It is the ultimate gateway BL, that the majority of girls (or anyone who loves beauty and cuteness) will fall in love with regardless of their normal reading preferences. Just be sure that you have read it before you show it to her, so that you can talk about it coherently.

First, as Teadragon said, observe your mom's reaction. (Based on what you said, she doesn't seem to be too agitated?)

Even though you probably feel like a guy who has just been busted 'polishing his gun', you should first stay calm and not freak out : the last thing you need is the guilty behavior of a criminal. You may be embarassed, but there you did nothing to be ashamed of.

My advice is to thicken your skin and act as if nothing's wrong or unusual. After all, you were simply reading some words (some racy words maybe, but still letters), not skinning live puppies.

The next steps will depend entirely on your own judgement based on your situation.
I have a few suggestion.

1. Your mom won't press the subject? Act as if nothing happened, shameless people are invincible ;
2. Need to justify? Here are a few arguments you can use to brainwash your mother (however, let's just omit counter-examples) :
   • The novel is a parody of the 'transmigrate into a novel' trope (just look at the cover picture) ;
   • The night interactions are consensual ;
   • BL is romance, BL is pure love ;
   • Chinese novel are not known to be the most explicit (crabs and fade to black) ;
3. Create a hearthwarming story about how you are interested in a fujoshi/fudanshi and wanted to study the thing that interest them in order to have a common topic and strike a discussion, thus creating a legendary friendship afterwards ;
4. Pray to any deity you belive in, even the flying spaghetti monster or the chaos god if necessary ;
5. Begin training, just in case (100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, 10km run)
