    I immediately thought of this when I saw the thread title.

    Anyone wanting to know Cantonese humour should watch Stephen Chow movies. Americans probably only know of him from Shaolin Soccer and Kungfu Hustle, but his earlier works in the 90s are much better and funnier to Asians.

    Many historical Chinese webnovels are like this, with a lot of harems and politics. But they aren't translated to English yet, would be really difficult to translate because of poetry compared to Xianxia.

    You should, and once you're done, lookup Stephen Chow english sub in Youtube, many of his movies from the 90s are there.

    For those looking for wuxia, search for Royal Tramp I and II, they are shameless adaptations of The Duke and the Cauldron which is fully translated and listed in this site. It has kungfu, people flying around, harem, sleeping with a girl to save her life, courtly intrigue, sects and so on. Another similar film is King of Beggars.

    Then there's the Bruce Lee parody Fist of Fury 1991 and 1992, and the ridiculous Love on Delivery which is loosely based on the manga Noritaka.
