    Does the Empress Dowager die? Isn't she the one who was most fond of YJQ? Also, since the Crown Princess is just a few months along, the chapters happen over a few months, right? Since they had to wait for the gender of the child. Did it say why the Emperor didn't move against SJW?

    Also, thank you for answering.

    What happened to the small princess ( the crown princess child)? Is she death or able to live? And when YJQ became the emperor did any other noble tried to force their daughters in?

    Because at the start you feel like she's helpless and is a bit pitiful but then you get further into the plot and you discover that the layers of her deceit are not so simple.

    To even do this is shocking. Although, I don't really blame her. It was often repeated that she was always groomed to be a Crown Princess. Perhaps these incidents are her way of surviving in the imperial family.

    There's about 37 chapters left. This one is a lot shorter than To Be A Virtuous Wife.

    Not really... she did what she needed to do. She was raped by the Emperor (her Father in Law) and made pregnant. She had no choice in anything that happened to her.

    She was brought up like a sheep for the slaughter, moulded to marry the Crown Prince from childhood. Later, when she entered the Imperial Family, she had no support. Her MIL sent concubines to her husband's bed and her husband was a lustful, greedy, good for nothing whose impotence she was blamed for. Her FIL raped her and got her pregnant. The only thing she had was her child and all she wanted was for that child to live a better life. She gave her life to stop the rumours against her child. The only way she could prove her innocence was by killing herself and she did that. She's a very sad character. Someone whose only choice in life was the way she died.

    I don't remember anything being mentioned about the Crown Princess' child. I think given HXW's personality, she would have made sure she was brought up well. She was no threat to either HXW or YJQ after all.

    As for nobles trying to force their daughters in, there's no specific mention either. There's a mention that YJQ thought something like "A man who needs to make the woman he loves unhappy in order to maintain his power, doesn't deserve that power." and promised HXW that they would be monogamous for a lifetime.

    Pointing these details, she is really pitiful. Especially being raped, all the while I thought it was a mutual thing to preserve the Emperor's lineage. That whole family is disgusting - emperor, empress, crown prince.

    Btw, it was pointed out that both SW and YJQ's fathers died early. So the Emperor did kill his brothers even if the former Emperor tried to protect them.

    I don't think the Crown Princess is a good person, given that she did, after all, plot Hou shi's miscarriage. She obviously had her own lust for power, and wasn't just driven by the ambitions of others. She definitely didn't deserve to be raped by her FIL (nobody deserves to be abused), but throughout the novel, she was overall as much an evil-doer (no matter her reasons) as she was a victim, so while her tragic ending is sad, it's not exactly unexpected. Imho, among the women who married into the imperial clan, Hou shi is the true pitiful figure who did nothing to deserve her fate. Though she did get her revenge on Yan Bo Yi in the end. You don't trample a good woman's heart and expect to have no retribution--when that woman is driven beyond sanity.
    The Crown Princess' child is a son, and it's hinted that the "inauspicious" signs during his birth were staged by Yan Jin Qiu, to prevent the Emperor from naming the grandson (actually the Emperor's son) as the heir to the throne.

    I always thought that the Crown Princess was just used by the Crown Prince and the Empress in regards to Houshi's miscarriage. It was really the mother-son tandem who did evil. So it's a son. But wasn't the inauspicious signs something like thunder or some natural phenomenon. How could YJQ do it?

    The acting award really should go to the whole Imperial Family.

    It was a son--unless they purposefully deceived everyone in the initial announcement of the child's gender.
    Chapter 86: “恭喜皇上,恭喜皇后,太子妃诞下一位皇孙。”
    皇孙 = imperial grandson.
    Yan Jin Qiu did get lucky as in, there was a thunderstorm on that day when the Crown Princess went into labor. But the fire in the suburbs (which alarmed everyone in Jing) is man-made (HXW later speculated that no human lives had been lost, as if someone had known about the imminent conflagration in advance, and a Guard Office patrol "coincidentally" happened by just in time to save everyone), so I figured that the evergreen tree by the imperial tomb being struck by lightning was no coincidence either. During a thunderstorm, lightning can be technically drawn to strike a specific location (at least, with a higher probability), if one has the necessary know-how (in particular, trees attract lightning because of two things: their water content and their height).
