Sight, if we where to learn morality from games, in 30 years we'd hear about mothers bragging like this.
"Oh my child is just a sweet heart, he doesn't go out having sex with those floosies, he doesn't even swear. All he does is take his assault rifle and shot random people. I'm really lucky to have such a good kid. you won't find a nicer one in this neighborhood."

For those wondering, you can sue valve if they remove the games without a refund, i'm fairly confident that all countries (except n.korea) have sufficient consumer protection laws for you to reliably win the case

Like it was said many times before (to me as well), you don't buy games on Steam, you buy the right to download and play games that Steam owns the rights to. If Steam does so wish, they can legally remove everyone's games from their account at any point, for any reason that comes to mind.

No one owns the games on Steam. They just rent the right to play them for an undetermined period of time.

Valve has always been bullshitting about this, but it’s kinda what you can do when you own more than 80% of the distribution of PC games...

So far, the only games that seem to be affected are visual novel and anime-esque games. In other words AAA titles aren't getting kicked at all even though they have much worse such as the new Wolfenstein's pregnant woman straddling a guy with her top off, covered in blood, while shooting assault rifles or w/e it was. The Witcher is also not being affected and everyone knows about the scenes that game has.

Also, this is political considering the groups claiming their victories with this "achievement."

Here are some reviews on mostly 18+ anime games on steam. Especially the last one is great.

Yeah, but they don't have a real 18+ game by default, right? ;)

This indirectly means that majority of steam users are below 18. Big reason for the cancer in all those games. Some just popped out of their mother's womb and start playing online games.
P.S Nothing to do with the topic. Just hating on stuffs XD

Oo ok, still the no refunds part feels harsh, like how most contracts work.

I don't think they have, but one, for example, has the description of not being for children or the easily disturbed. Another should not be played by limbless war veterans.

This is political i think as the audiences of these type of art in the west is on the rise. Perhaps another protectionism on the works.

Damn it! Hopefully, the thread won't be locked as long there isn't political discussions here, since it's just people clarifying on what will likely or exactly will happen with this sudden change of regulations on Steam. Though if this thread does get lock, it's mainly a news thread. So people can read and click the links for information on this lock down on sexual/mature content.

I should probably clarify that the discussion itself isn't political, but the reason this is happening is political. What we can all agree on is this is a stupid move though.

This might cause a drop in people that'll ever trust valve = There will be less buyers = Less income = Less titles to buy = less games = less people signing onto steam = Steam becomes a 3rd world company

    bad move

I think this is a bit ridiculous. There are much more sexual games on Steam than some of the ones listed.
I only know of a few of the developers on this list, and they seem to be Western developers. From what I can tell, this is targeting Western developers that are making Eastern-styled games.
This is pretty unfair, considering SakuraGame (as a publisher) literally has out a shit ton of nukige with translations so poor that I find it easier to understand the spoken Japanese sometimes. (This egg will admit that she has played and bought some of the games. Don't judge me too hard. >.< ) I've played HuniePop, and compared to some of the games published by SakuraGame, it's really mild.

if porno games made half as much as GTA has for steam, I'm sure valve would not care about porno materials anymore. The only reason they do is they fear the backlash when overconcerned moralistic parents get their hands on the megaphone to lead a crusade against games, but if the benefits outweigh the risks, I doubt valve would care so much.

And here I thought people were starved off food or something important.
    Meeh :blobunamused:
If Steam alienates their creators, a competitor will welcome them.
    It's no big deal
