I'm on the side of the authors so I just want to help all the authors out if I can.

I believe my suggestions if implemented would have a positive impact for the authors and translators.

I pick Gravitytales as an example since they are releasing a lot of ebooks lately. My suggestion will also apply to other sites when they release a lot of ebooks (WW, QI, Volare etc..)

    SUGGESTION #1:

how about adding Ebooks sub-section to Gravitytales.com?

    Translated Tales
    Original Tales
    Ebooks
    Ranking
    About Us
    Forum

so that alll ebooks will gain more visibility? This will help all authors (Chinese authors, Korean authors, Original English authors) sell more ebooks. It will also help translators too since they get a share of the ebook royalties.

    SUGGESTION #2

Please hire a professional cover art to do the ebook covers. Many Gravitytales ebook covers look very amateur. In order to sell ebooks, a great cover is a must. Make a great first impression. Some readers will selectively ignore crappy covers. So you are losing some potential buyers by making a bad first impression.

I believe you can get a good ebook cover for less than $100.

I did a quick search on kboards and they have a yellow page for cover art. There are hundreds of entries so pick some ones.

    https://www.kboards.com/yp/index.php/?action=go&seq=&p_service=Cover Art&p_sort=name&p_search=&p_page=1

A quick search and I found some good covers for $45 and $75
    https://www.vividcovers.com/product-category/science-fiction-fantasy/

    For example
    https://www.vividcovers.com/shop/cover-no-2007/
    $45 for this cover

    It would be great for
    A Dragon's Curiosity

versus this cover for A Dragon's Curiosity

One looks professional. One looks very amateur.
Which will leave a good first impression for buyers?

    or this $45 premade cover

For A Dragon's Curiosity instead of

How about something like this for King of Gods

    $45 premade cover

    $45 premade cover

    or
    $45 premade cover

instead of what is currently being used?

@cequ weren't you a qidian clone account, are trying to test the market before implementing the change or try to make it seem like GT take community feedback?

Even so, the saying of "Don't judge a book by it's cover" still exists. Also, why should a site like Gravity Tales get someone to create an ebook cover? Even if the "translators" get a share, why is their job to do so and not the original author's job? I get it if it's for "Original Tales," but for translated tales?

I'm just a reader who wanted Qidian International to be something like Crunchyroll

    Free for every with ads
    $5.99 a month for ad-free, read ahead

so I made a poll and hope everyone will vote for it in order to influence QI. In the end it has zero influence since they are going with paywall anyway even though 90% wanted freemium.

    https://www.strawpoll.me/14527896

Survey for www.webnovel.com; which is better?

Free with ads; $5.99 a month to skip ads, read several chapters ahead of free users, extra power stones for voting
    428 votes

$0.04 per chapter paywall (first 100 chapters are free)

Weird your post count is that high and every time a see you is in a qidian thread, soyou have to talk about other things if you don't want to be confused.
In other news, you should ask for a raise, or more hours so that the account has more activity

Authors get royalties from Ebooks sales on amazon.

    Amazon pays 70% royalties.

From that, the author, the translator and the publisher will receive their share according to the contract agreements. How that breakdown, I don't know. Only Gravitytales and gravitytales translators know.

Using Reincarnation of the Strongest Sword God: Book One - Starting Over as an example

    https://www.amazon.com/Reincarnation-Strongest-Sword-God-Starting-ebook/dp/B0798FXKJ8

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #2,586 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
    #2 in Books > Literature & Fiction > World Literature > Asian > Chinese
    #3 in Books > Science Fiction & Fantasy > Fantasy > Myths & Legends > Asian
#4 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Science Fiction & Fantasy > Fantasy > Myths & Legends > Asian

That is about 100 ebooks sold each day at $3.99. So about $279 in royalties paid today.

The author will get a share.
The translator will get a share
The publisher will get a share.

    At $3.99 price point

    5000 ebooks sold x $3.99 x 70% royalties = $13,965
    7500 ebooks sold x $3.99 x 70% royalties = $20,947
    10000 ebooks sold x $3.99 x 70% royalties = $27,930
    15000 ebooks sold x $3.99 x 70% royalties = $41,895

Isn't Gravity now majority owned by Qidian International?

Any publishing house is in the business of only giving "their" authors as much money as it takes to convince them to let the publishing house rake off the lion's share rather than going to some other house or indie.

From what I remember, Gravitytales is 90% owned by China Literature.

As for royalties, Qidian in China pay authors 70%. So a reader buy a chapter on Qidian using Qidian points, Qidian keeps 30% and the authors get 70%. So a reader buy $10 worth, the authors get $7 of that. But that is in China.

With ebook sales (English version), I don't know what the royalties rate is. Since there is translation cost. The only ones who know for sure are Gravitytales and the translators there who have released English ebooks.

Found some more good covers for $50

What is important in a fantasy series is that there is continuity / similarity in the Book Covers from Book 1 to book 2 to book 3 etc...

So it's best to hire the same cover art designer and have something similar for each book.

There is no continuity/similarity for King of Gods at all.

Despite the amateur covers with no continuity / similarity, King of Gods probably sold thousands of ebooks already.

Imagine what it could have sold if the covers are well made and are similar to each others.

Learn from the best selling Xianxia authors on Amazon (he has made probably $250,000+ from the 4 xianxia ebooks on there)

    Similar book covers.
Same fonts for the author names and the title names.
    Continuity

Compare that to something like King of Gods Book 1, Book 2, Book 3

It's kinda funny that the best selling Xianxia author on Amazon is American and not Chinese.

Anyway, I hope there will be more Chinese translated novels published as ebooks on Amazon. I support the authors so I hope they can earn more money. A rising tide lifts all boats so the more ebooks sold, the more the authors will make.

In the future, we will see Korean translated ebooks on Amazon as well since Munpia is now licensing novels to English sites.

I get the feeling that QI is trying to make me work for free by thinking of suggestions for them.

What, slave contracts not enough labour for them? Had they done this long ago they might have me biting but all the multi accounts and paid shills with the pro QI line have turned me off ever giving free suggestions on line, even to people who may not be shills but are likely shills.

    a small critique:

Book 1 to Book 2: the font is not the same.
It would be better if the font is the same similar to Will Wight's Cradle Series.
