Discussion Suggestions for must-read novels

Not my cup of tea.

 

Stellar transformation: i think all of the books by this author are great, we have romance, mystery, feeling, action and passion.
But the problem with his books is that its a russian mountain: you have the time when you can read for days without getting bored and you have the time when you ask yourself why you started this novel

 

The Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich
genre: comedy adventure
Reason: It has somewhat slow start in the sense that we are not immediately slapped with a sense of purpose. It starts with the comedic antics of the mc. We are slowly and strategically give the past of the mc and an explanation of why he is doing what he does. The story is very well written with side characters that are well rounded and have a sense of purpose. Even when the story gets more serious, it still manages to keep a lot of its comedic aspects. It is not repetitive in its plot with its constant twists and turns with us wondering what the grand plan of the story is. And when we do finally understand the plot, roughly around ch. 50, everything makes sense and we gain a better appreciation for the mc.

 

Why is Zhan Long not on this list?

 

Either because people don't have the same taste you do, or because people didn't consider Zhan Long a good novel for people that are getting started on the whole thing of reading Asian novels.

romance(rather slow), admirable female lead(she has no martial arts though but still intelligent), quite well-written, the ending was incredibly satisfying

yu wo's stories are quite different and interesting

Objection. Yun Che is not arrogant OK. He was just prideful. And its fully justified. Because at the beginning, he was immature and he thought he knows all about the world. Now, look at him. He just stays silent and does not stays even if someone insults him right infront of his face.

 

Everyone else is a returnee
A korean novel that has game features a a pretty original start. Im mainly recommending this because i like it

 

Ive only read the initial post so forgive me if someone already suggested it. I suppose it borderlines on romance and mystery, though honestly it's neither - Gekkou. This is one volume only novel, that pretty much is a must read for very big (for me anyway) reason. It gives a lot of perspective. It's by no means perfect, nor is it genere defining, but it shows that not all light novels are mae with recipe of bunch of one liners and ecchi sprinkled on top of it ( by no means am i suggesting novels on the list in first post are ALL that).

For the exact same reasons, Tsukumodo antique shop (...magic bullshit mystery?). For a Light Novel its rather clever.

As for lighter stuff, i highly recommend reading Kizumonogatari, part of Monogatari series. Sadly most of the novels from it are untouched and unfinished.

 

You really need to add novels Like TGS and all in there. They are also great albeit has different timeline and all.

 

Lately haven't all the web novels been about reincarnation (or summoning) to a medieval European world, includes RPG game element or something dark? Excluding light novels and non-Japanese web novels can someone name me a few web novels that doesn't include those things?

I said no Non-Japanese web novel, also a lot of the web novel you listed included RPG game element.

 

Not sure if posted, but FILWTV (Falling in Love with the Villainess) is a gem

 

LMS and tka are only novels with rpg and others are not.

 

I noticed your sig has "royal Road: Grass Porridge Cult". I checked on royal road and there is no such fic. what's the deal with that?
