Well, it's it's not exactly a translation problem as an English localisation problem, but there's a term in Japanese called 剣の腹 (belly of the sword) which refers to the flat(?) part of the sword. There's a joke in this novel I'm TLing about it being a part of the body and thus the sword having a body or something.
Anyhow, does anyone know any sword terms that allude to parts of the body (the heart is already a part of the joke so that won't do)?

    剣の腹 could also mean
Sword flank (the side of the sword perhaps?)
    Sword willpower
Sword's heart (probably means the way of the sword)
    Spirit of the sword

Isn't the fuller the decorative craved channel(s) on the sword blade?
