Not really, do remember that in their world there is a huge emphasis on honor, procedures of a noble and especially between blademasters/knights.

Basically, the old man gave up on noble traditions and warrior ones too. It was shocking to see an old man who was a huge influencial and traditional house of noble act that way, even more so considering he is a rank 3 blademaster. Plus, we see that the duke did not even have a clue of Lorist's individual strength... yet, he acted so shamefully. I did not expect him to be such a massive scum. (from our perspective it seems ok in our world without nobility but the world was built up in the name of noble traditions and honor... even his highness has to follow such rules and every noble does so, or else he would not be really acknowledged/considered a noble by the whole world)

Well, to be fair, Lorist saw Xanthi acting like that too, when she tried to send the soldiers to gang up on him while she hid and tried to find an opportunity to catch him off guard and assassinate him, so honestly, Lorist should have saw it coming. He just became a lot more arrogant for no reason. I mean, he should have at least brought his own troops with him to ensure that the Duke couldn't escape and/or prevent anyone else from interfering.

That's the thing, I do not remember Xanthi being a noble and also, Xanthi herself is unreasonable and looney. She was set to have a unreasonable/illogical personality... I mean, she has seen how talented Lorist was and she still treated him like garbage unworthy of Sylvia and believed it to be a fluke that she lost in her previous duel.
Furthermore, when she first dueled Lorist... she did not take advantage of him after that duel... as Lorist ran out of energy and she could have killed him then. So, there are plenty of times where we see the traditions and noble way of duels and warriors.

She doesn't need to be. She's the lover of the Duke, as well as a Rank 3 Blademaster, and Sylvia's mentor/guardian. She should have been well aware of what noble etiquette would entail. As for her duel with Lorist, I would assume it was because she wasn't stupid enough to think that if she really killed him, she would be able to safely protect Sylvia and escape the building that was fully surrounded by armed Norton soldiers..

i meant the blood lust clouds locke's mind. after he kills a few dozen people/guards he doesn't always think to clear. that the duke might be able to run from him.

I think it was not bloodlust that clouded his mind but rather, he was like the usual ssj Vegeta who got arrogant and was enjoying dominating the opponent. Clearly, Locke was being personal because of what happened with Sylvia and Duke's offer was humiliation at best.
Locke had total control of the battle, he was aware of the openings and flaws of the duke but his pleasure to tease and torment the duke as revenge made him too arrogant.

Well, the thing is that it was never stated that Xanthi has any sort of noble status. She showed some etiquette previously when she dueled Locke the first time but after that, she was like a barbarian or a illogical nut. We can argue about Xanthi this and that but do remember that noble etiquitte is huge in that world and even nobles rebel or try to kill their king if the king shows no respect to noble traditions. Furthermore, even if Xanthi would have a somewhat noble title... she cannot compare to the duke and his lineage. Additionally, even Locke's best friends at times even in private refer to him as mi'lorde... in the end, my point remains about etiquette.
Also, I do think that she could have killed Locke and escaped with Sylvia... most of Locke's knights at that time were silver rank and few gold ranks could do what? They could have used arrows or other things but the army was not as developed at that time.

What was your entire point to this? You're trying to say that Xanthi is not a noble, so her not conforming to noble etiquiette makes sense. But I'm saying is, regardless of what, she is the lover of a Duke, as well as a Rank 3 Blademaster. If even she is willing to disregard noble etiquette, it should be clear that Duke Fisablen has consented to it, either directly (under his explicit orders), or indirectly (he didn't do anything about it). In either case, it shouldn't be surprising to Lorist if the Duke is willing to similarly disregard noble etiquette, since even in Lorist's mind, the Duke is a sly fox.

Also, what makes you so clear? By that point in time, the Norton forces had long already killed their first blademaster using ranged weapons. Even if Xanthi wasn't weakened enough to be killed from it outright, you actually think she'd be able to move freely whilst defending Sylvia at the same time?

two things. i think its mentained that Xanthi is the half sister of his/the duke wife's?... in the raws i think but the translation didn't put it in? with the blood lust its said that it took his knight forever to get him out his daze after slaughtering 1000? people on a ship and a rank 2? blademaster by that i mean blood lust not arrogance thinking he's in control of all his fight and stuff. also the fight with the archers its said that some of the archers are silver rank not most or all so it was easier than 100 silver rank fighters.

Funny chap, Lorist again wasting gold like a bad businessman being used of. What's with the wobbly legs after sex? I don't see the relation, sex isn't exhausting nor will cumming drain your energy lol.

It's honestly a bit disappointing seeing Lorist handle the Queen in such a stupid manner. He could have done things a lot differently. I mean, just because he didn't have to be a dick to her doesn't mean he has to be kind to her. I mean, where's the logic in that? He could have just handed her over to the Fisablen troops that were hiding on that mountain top and use that to potentially create an opportunity to take over. Or, worse comes to worse just knock her out and literally escort her back to the Fisablen territory. Zero repercussions. Smh man.

??? For all we know, a significant amount of time could have passed since then. And how do you know he was stressed out at that time? He was never shown to be stressed out over the incident. He simply acknowledged that he had made a mistake. This should have been made clear when it said that he was relieved when he found out that Josk and Yuriy were both still alive.

Not to mention how inconsistent that would be, if the author used him being stressed as the excuse. He was too stressed to think and deal properly with the Queen, yet was clearheaded enough to think of a plan to have Pedro properly defended? Makes no sense.

he previously got stressed out by the failed siege town the one with the crater. stressed/regretted. and it just said he was worried about his men that where looking to captured a few enemy soldiers its totally reasonable to see him having more important matters to think about its show when his men die he regrets not being able to save them even when he couldn't. so it being on his mind is totally a jugdement you can see without out the author putting it right in front of you.

Even if Lorist shows regret over not being able to save the men that he lost, that doesn't automatically mean that it would get in the way of him keeping his cool and thinking up of countermeasures when facing matters concerning the war. Not to mention whatever timespan between when he got the letter detailing the Jaegers' defeat and when he decided to deal with the Queen, immediately after he read the letter, he was able to think of and implement a plan in response to the situation.

Obviously the author doesn't need to explicitly state it, but he would have at least needed to allude to it, hence why I said that "He was never shown to be stressed." This should have been obvious if you reread the chapter he receives the letters as well as the most recent one (378 and 383).

When Lorist is told of the bad news, he immediately thought of the consequences: him possibly needing to divert troops from his current position to strengthen the gap in the defences caused by the loss of the Jaegers, which would mean that they couldn't hold their current position, and would instead allow the Fisablen soldiers to reclaim the lands that they had lost/are losing. If Lorist was indeed stressed out by the loss of the Jaegers, then that would be the most important reason, but even so, Lorist still managed to compose himself enough to order that Pedro be held at all costs. Then, when Lorist is informed that Pedro managed to hold out against the barbarians, he was explicitly stated to be relieved, since it would mean that he would still maintain a strong position against Iblia and Duke Fisablen. So whatever stress that he had received from the loss of the Jaegers due to its consequences disappeared the moment he heard that Pedro managed to hold on.

In regards to Lorist regretting over the loss of his men, while that is indeed the case, Lorist has been shown to be much more practical about it. He doesn't dwell on it, but tries to learn from it, as was shown in the latest chapter. He immediately thought of where things could have gone wrong (important locations being under defended), and tried to think of how he could prevent it from happening in the future (reorganising his troops). So, as you can see, even in scenarios where he suffered losses that could have caused him stress, he was still calm and smart enough to think things through and try to make the best decisions. Yet all of a sudden, when it comes to dealing with the Queen, which happened well after he heard of Pedro's successful defence, he suddenly makes such a stupid mistake like giving in to her demands and helping her out? Even when a couple of paragraph before he was talking about how things nearly went wrong due to his own carelessness ... do you not see that there's something wrong with it? Or at the very least, a little weird?

I thought it had to do with the aristocratic values to face and... she was still a queen at that moment I thought. It wouldn't look good on the Nortons rep if she was held there. Though, I do wonder if there was a... less consuming way to get her out of the way.
