Tall people in Asian novels

    Ok ok I know this isn't all the novels but still find it funny when I see it like the mc of the story I'm reading it kept describing him as tall muscular and good looking then recently gave his exact hight (5'9) I almost shot water out my nose laughing I'm 6'1 fairly average where I live so I had a imagine of at least my hight then to find out about this "Tall guy" I couldn't help but mentally look down because to me he's kinda a shorty

    One question though... Asian countries don't use feet/inches, they use meters/cm. Maybe by 5'9 they mean 5 meters, 9 cm?

    According to this, the average height for a chinese man is 169.4 cm (5' 6.7"), so (5'9) is pretty much tall :hmm:

    Depends on how the translator translates. 5'9 or 5'9" is short hand for feet and inches. There is no mistaking that

    A “heroine” is a female hero. “Heroin” is a drug. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I do not think OP meant to say, “funny as a crack head on female hero.”

    well you know, gravity in those novels are different seeing as how the stronger you get the more people around you feel pushed to the ground. so the weaker you are the shorter you will be XD

    In JPN stories girls are considered tall and unattractive if they are 5'7 and higher...

    I live in the US and have seen some Asians 6 ft and up but it might be the Western food being the cause who knows.

    This is why I don't do the conversion at all while reading, I just take the characters word for it, that they are way~ taller than other people. They say 165cm, I am like "well, that sounds like a lot, must be tall" I don't look into it, and definitely never compare to my 5'9".

    130cm can not ride size
    140cm shrimp size
    150cm short
    155cm a little short
    160cm below average
    165cm average
    170cm above average
    175cm tall
    180cm handsomely tall
    185cm clothes hanger tall
    190cm too tall to be comfortable

    Knocks out 5-10cm for women. Mostly for the heels.
