One day, the love interest will be relatively plain, or slightly pretty, or roughly average, but leaning towards the MC's preferences, or something other than a peerless beauty that could easily pass for a professional model.

I have a feeling that he's going to miss all the prelims and almost miss his own.

Because the author wanted them to, same as every other VRMMO story on this site. From a business perspective, it doesn't make any sense, but pretty much all writers use it as their baseline because it makes writing easier.

are you kidding? i'd do nothing but suicide at level 50. You get to compete in the rookie tourney which apparently has a huge fame reward, and then grind skill proficiency until i'm ready to move on. "oh no i have to take every other day off"

 

Weren't they trying to keep Ian's reset a secret? Won't participating in, or worse, winning the competition, be the same as announcing his reset to the world?

 

They were trying to keep it secret until they secured enough resources to maintain their base I think.

 

But they haven't secured it yet. Its still super weak.

The Ice Golem isn't much of a hidden card if he pulls it out right away. Now everyone's going to know he's got it, and it won't take much research to figure out what most of its attack capabilities are.

I wonder if a reporter will try to interview him now, and if anyone will remember his picture from that post outing him as the top summoner in the game.

He is chuuni that is fine it would be great if he becomes friends with mc. But to complain about losing after the match made me sad. I thought he was gonna pull a "I wasn't serious at all" "This isn't my final form" or "As expect of my rival" or some similar chuuni lines. Didn't expect him to cry about it.

 

Why wasn't he planning to beat Transparency with Ice Wave? And why didn't his turtle block any of the flying knives? Its not like Limlong was avoiding the turtle at that point, and, since Ian was running away, they would be much more likely to hit it than not. Alternatively, why didn't he swap places with the Ice Golem? Its main purpose is to soak damage for him isn't it?

I thought hidden classes were supposed to be hard to get?

 

well yeah, hidden classes are hard to get, but you have to remember that its likely ian, the assassin and the black mage are among the very few that have hidden classes among the new classes. The rest of the plebs that have normal classes have a slower lvling speed and thus couldn't participate in the tournament. and those that did, likely lost badly.

 

I wonder if that guy will ever amount to anything or if he'll just be the perpetual butt of jokes he's too clueless to understand.

3 m^2 isn't really a "wide scope." Its less than half a meter radius. That's significantly less than the arm reach of an average person.

Are familiars immune to each other's attacks or something? If not, how would he use the Ice Golem and the Lava Witch at the same time?

Also, why isn't he trying to get a flying familiar? Even if its just a common European swallow, if he evolves it, it should be able to carry him as easily as a coconut.

 

If he's too big, he'll be useless in indoor locations, including many dungeons

 

Huh, thats... worryingly true. Doubt it'll ever come up in the story though.
