    I was going through colour pages of Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin on Baka-Tsuki and I found this map which bears an uncanny resemblance to the map of India, especially the Gujarat part in west:

    i am from india and thats a rough draw of indian map by a child of 12 year i think :p

    They had to have a base or idea for a map, and i guess they chose the India since they could make an arc with an area with the geography just like India. But if its not India, it really looks like it though..

    It isn't all that uncommon for fantasy authors or mangakas to just take real locations and maps and change some placenames, maybe rearrange the continents a bit or even just turning the world map upside down, basic laziness in cases where having a original map don't really matter that much.
