Just reached said chapter. I screamed too!! MC is so BAMF!!!!!
It sounds interesting. I am in love with QT novels truth to be told.
Adding on to this, for my future reference,
as soon as the task complete, MC appeared in the system space to the surprise of 009. She start asking about 008. It tells her that 008 was gonna be formatted by Lord God but before that 008 told 009 to take good care of her. After so many hosts, this is the first time 009 saw 008 so serious about a host. 008 said MC had experienced too many hardships, don't want MC, because of it, got reincarnated. 008 left 3 sentences for her.
Hope she will always stay healthy.
Hope she will cherish life.
Hope she will return home.
009's voice choked at this point. After 008 got formatted, except for 009, none will remember it. MC asked where 008 is at now and went to fetch it to the surprise of them all, since she can access the spaces. 008 who saw her desperately scolded her. With her ability, just a few more tasks and she can return so what is she doing here now?? It's a system, if it got formatted, it's still 008 but if she's discovered, she'll get reincarnated. Nothing will be left of her.
@LaDyViL , @charysa , how’s the story progressing?
According to the author's profile, it's still Ongoing. Chapter 1141 was just released today.
The last arc is still ongoing. Compared to all the other arcs, the plot moves at a glacial pace. Even learning the MC's backstory, something we take for granted at the start of other arcs, is like pulling teeth with how little has been revealed. It's like after so many arcs of quickly finishing things up, the author is now experimenting with how long they can string the readers along...
Spoiler: Summaries of arcs 40-49
Arc 40 - 我在远古当女神 (I'm a Goddess in Prehistoric Times)
MC is discarded by a fleeing primitive tribe and picked up by another. Helps warrior leader ML kick out the modern transmigrator (MP) and priestess who were looking to take over the tribe. Build a city, start civilization.
Arc 41 - 重生八零 (Reborn in the Eighties)
MC is the middle child of a sexist mother in a small town who wants to marry her off. ML is a wounded soldier who moved into town to recover. Older sister is a reborn who failed at city life last time, got jealous of sister's husband, but still failed at life again. MC easily passes high school, skips college, and goes direct into national R&D.
Arc 42 - 巨星大爆炸 (Superstar Explosion)
MC is a modern day mermaid used and dumped by slag boyfriend, and also smeared in the entertainment circle. Go on same reality show as them for counterattack - shows off fishing, predicting weather, mixing incense, heal poison bugs. Then patron fight (with ML) vs the rich girl who tried to kick her out of entertainment.
Arc 43 - 车王 (Racing King)
MC is a racer who just lost a match with injuries, and arrives as her brothers want to split the house on instigation by their wives. Takes up a new side job as math teacher at rich kids school. ML is her new sponsor after leaving old one. Wins future races and also gets her students to become math geeks, showing up reborn competitor in both.
Arc 44 - 武器 (Weapons)
MC is the orphaned elder daughter of a mastersmith line. Became a concubine to prince as part of a plot between him and her cousin to swap her blood with her younger sickly sister. Secretly builds up wealth with her masterworks and reveals her genius, as well as selfish side of sister.
From this point MC's system is replaced with 009 and all her memories of previous transmigrations are wiped for each mission.
45. 塔罗牌 (Tarot Card)
MC is the daughter of a housekeeper who swapped her with newborn of rich family. Swapped girl is top HS exam scorer and famous tarot reader, who is back with ambition. Shows up rival sister in dad's company, saves birth parents with miracle medical knowledge, and convinced to study tarot by ML (still with memory).
46. 渣女配 (Slag Supporting Female Character)
MC host was a golddigging country girl in college. Does the usual national R&D, computer company, etc. route. Also raises (adopted) younger brother into next level genius, with top grades at HS exams, stock market genius, political genius. Makes ex-BF and little brother's biological family regret looking down on them. No ML.
47. 炮灰男配 (Cannon Fodder Supporting Male Character)
MC is orphaned daughter of imperial cook, forcibly married off to a merchant by ex-fiance's minister father. Accidentally caused husband to go into coma (seems like ML had memories before going into coma but forgot previous worlds memories afterwards??), and his family attacked by 3rd prince (harem member of transmigrated FP). Gets chased from family after healing ML, then truth comes out. MC revives dad's restaurant while sending secret help to eldest prince. ML goes into politics. Revenge on 3rd prince.
48. 被遗弃的少女 (The Abandoned Girl)
Future beastman setting. MC was "waste" abandoned on rural planet. Saves ML; becomes master energy crystal smith. Makes slag family regret looking down on her. (Some on screen making out with ML and probably secret marriage.)
49. 直播女神 (Streamer Goddess)
LoL streaming turned to full talent show rivalry. ML is rich esport player.
I think the Main arc has ended, just the Extra is still ongoing so the story hasn't been labelled completed. 1158 chapters with 6 extras right now.
Yeah, the main story is done. The extras are actually are like an epilogue, they just continue on from the time the main story ended, I guess to make sure all loose ends are taken care of or whatnot.
The most frustrating thing about the real life arc was the slow pace that MC's backstory was revealed. There were some twists that didn't come out until like the last couple of chapters, even. So it's a big spoiler, but for people who want to know the backstory out of order:
Spoiler: What is ML's deal and his connection to MC's world hopping
During the world transmigrations, we're led to know that ML's name have something to do with "云" (cloud) since all of his incarnations have that character in their name. But in the real life arc, for the longest time, nobody with that character in their name appears. It's not until halfway through the arc, that we're told that the guy who's been helping MC out, 慕行之 (Mu Xingzhi), has a courtesy name 慕归云 (Mu Guiyun). So, yeah, that's our ML.
Anyway, ML was the scion of a large high status family, heir apparent by the time of the arc, but not yet officially the next head of house. He was a prodigy much like MC (prior to the advantages she got over the course of world hopping), and they were both student/trainees at the same top secret military-esque academy, where they pretty much always shared the top spot, miles ahead of all other competitors. MC at that time was focused on building a name and career for herself, and probably didn't see him as more than a friendly rival. ML however had a huge crush on her, and stepped in to help her out when she was later forced out of that circle (details below).
ML also had a second lineage as scion of the mysterious 归 (Gui) family. Apparently this was an ancient line who were custodians of these artifacts that came into their world due to some rift or transmigration event in the past. It's unclear if these artifacts are divine or supertech, but the Gui bloodline had some way of sorta connecting to the potential of parallel worlds through them, and also provided some superhuman abilities (which ML never used casually in order to maintain his "normal human" cover). ML was also noted as to being especially gifted, or having potent blood lineage.
When MC died due to a bomb trap at the beginning of the story, ML had been keeping track of her and got word of it immediately. He was desperate for a way to save her, so he made a sacrifice to the Artifacts. His heart's blood, carrying with it all of his special potential, in exchange for a...I guess benediction. This is what caused the 008 system to detect and bind to MC, and it's also what created all the ML alter-egos in the various worlds MC went to. It's also why all the ML's in those worlds, in addition to having a similar name, also had the same scar in the palm of their left hand (it's where the sacrificial cut was made).
I'm don't think ML knew exactly what would happen to MC after he made the sacrifice, that she'd be getting a system and doing world hopping. From his POV, he basically made the sacrifice, and soon afterwards, heard that she was back alive. He was surprised by the additional skills she'd gained during world hopping, but he mostly rolled with it. Also, I'm not clear, but I think later on MC also reproduced a serum from one of the sci-fi worlds she went to for ML, which would probably restore his abilities, or give him other abilities, not too clear on that.
Spoiler: MC's backstory prior arc 50
So MC was born to the Ye family, who is a generational military family that's in decline. Her grandpa is a nice guy. Her dad is...ok, bland, and sorta not there a lot of the time, but he's not a bad guy. Her mom is from the Su family, which is primarily business-focused family...and is kinda an idiot. She also has an older sister, and a younger brother who is probably the one she gets the closest to.
So at some point possibly before MC was even born, her older sister actually got swapped with another baby. Unknown if it was on purpose or by accident. By the time the sister was 6 and MC was 4, the sister had already learned the truth from her biological brother (a guy working as a mercenary). So during this one incident when their family was on the run due to some terrorist threat or another, the sister convinced the mom to con MC into go looking for some candy that her sick brother wanted, and essentially to draw their pursuers away as a sacrifice. (She likely did this to get rid of another competitor for the inheritance, and cuz she's a stereotypical evil stepsister type. The mom is just gullible, shallow, and dumb. The little bro had a high fever and like 2 years old, so we won't blame him.)
MC, being a kid prodigy (though no one realized at the time yet), of course understood the real purpose of sending her away. So of course she didn't go seek death, but avoided the pursuers herself, and got saved by this kindly grandmaster type guy from the Niejin family, who essentially became her surrogate father and mentor-figure. He's the one who realized her potential and got her into the top secret academy.
At the academy, and then afterwards in the special ops department/circle, MC always did her best to prove herself. But her sheer talent made a some people jealous/nervous, and she didn't have the blood pedigree/backing that others like ML had. So the end, a bunch of bigshot political families got together to force her out, calling her a threat and liability, and locking her up because she was too dangerous if she turned against them. Her mentor and ML both fought to get her out, and her mentor passed away during this time.
By the time ML got her out, she was pretty crushed emotionally by what happened. It also wasn't helped that of her mentor's two grandchildren, the older sister was also secretly jealous of her and was trying to push her out from her standing with that family (and trying to kill her via slow poison and the later bomb trap that almost succeeded). So at that point, MC just wanted to leave the entire thing altogether, and ML helped her to leave and set her up with new IDs and stuff. He was also concerned that she'd might've lost the will to live or do something stupid, so he was also keeping close tabs on her (hence how he immediately learned of her death).
While wandering around aimless/homeless, MC took out some of her frustrations to write a novel (this novel featured a couple of times in her world hopping) which became a huge hit. The feedback from her fans gave MC some little new goal in life, so when she got recruited by a entertainment biz talent scout in a web cafe, she switched careers to acting. By the time the story started, she was already a first line actress due to her looks and her talent.
And that's the point where the RL arc starts...
I was gritting my teeth the whole time wondering where and when will the ML show up, and when his name is mentioned, I went all "wut?" and rewind my reading. MTL can be confusing that way, hahaha...
The mother frustrate me. Being an idiot is one thing, but she didn't recognize what she did as wrong. "Yes, it was wrong of her to do that but she had no choice to she can't take all the blame" - that's her mindset. Lady, that's your daughter. You can be guilty all you want, can feel regret all the time but when it's time to come out with the truth then you should spill and grovel for forgiveness. What happened to her? I didn't read much of the main arc yet. It was super slow, so I was stacking it.
So ML doesn’t remember what happened?
Not much other than the crashing and burning of all her hopes and dreams. She pinned all her hopes on her older daughter, and then found out (1) that's not actually her daughter and (2) even if she is, she'd never amount to 1% of MC's accomplishments.
He knows that something happened involving parallel realities that brought MC back to life. He doesn't know that she lived a bunch of extra lifetimes (with alternates of himself).
What happens to his alt selves then? What happen to the real daughter? MC said that older brothers can’t be trusted, is that because of the fake daughter’s older brother?
ML's alt selves lived out their lives in the worlds they were in... He made the sacrifice for MC's benefit, not for his own. I mean, it's not like he *needs* to have the memories of his alternates. He's already a winner at life given his position and abilities. And after returning to life, MC has learned to return his feelings, and they've gotten together romantically.
It's unknown what happened to MC's real sister. The author has mentioned that MC will probably get around to looking for her and rescuing her if need be in the extra chapters, but we haven't gotten there yet.
Hm... not sure what MC meant about older brothers, since she never actually had any. I'm pretty sure she didn't actually know that her older sister was fake until the revelation in the story. Unlike with the other worlds, in the real life world, she didn't have a system to give her a omniscient narrative of her own story. She has a younger brother, but they get along pretty well. The only one of her peers that she has a deep impression of is ML; all of the other young men of their generation are so far behind her that I doubt she really noticed them too much.
Thank you for all the spoilers. It is truly an enlightenment
Separate names with a comma.
