Chapter 1. Felt like in a paradise, huh?

Saturday, at a certain hospital center in New York City.

It was almost ten a clock at night when Emergency Department in the hospital was rushing up in live. A heavy rain was pouring down without any sign of stopping. Loud thunders and lightings was seen everywhere in the dark sky. An ambulance was rushing to ED in fast speed against the heavy rain.

Nurses and doctors were running forth and back in receiving an emergency patient. A first treatment immediately was given. But after seeing the injury, a nurse immediately ran to the ED office. Without knocking, she rushed to enter the room and call a doctor inside.

"Dr. Zhou!" She hurried to say as she gave the report in her hand to the doctor. "A car accident case just arrived. A thirty plus years old male, unconscious, with heavy injury in the head, estimated to have an internal bleeding, a severe brain trauma, severe injuries on the…"

Dr. Zhou flipped the report as he read them with his dark eyes in flash speed while his feet were rushing to see the patient with the nurse. They were walking in hurry to the Emergency Room while the nurse was reporting the situation at the same time.

"Prepare the operation room." He ordered in firm tone as they finally arrived in the ER. He gave the report back to the nurse as he rushed to the patient's bed. All assistance and nurse was already prepared as they immediately moved to send the patient into the operation room.

A woman, claimed to the patient's wife, was sobbing with red face. She grabbed the doctor's sleeves as soon as she saw Dr. Zhou was taking in charge of the operation. "D-doctor… p-please…s-save my husband… p-please s-sa—" she was sobbing so hard that her pleas were almost unintelligible.

Dr. Zhou grabbed the woman's shoulder in firm grip making her paused her sobbing in a moment as she saw a pair of beautiful black eyes that was so dark like a deep bottom of ocean. She couldn't help for a moment to feel calm and confidence as she stared at those eyes.

In a firm and calm tone, Dr. Zhou replied shortly. "I will do my best."

Then he rushed to the operation room with the assistances and nurses following the patient in ahead. Meanwhile the patient's wife was led by a nurse to the administration office.

After three hours of waiting, the red light above the door of operation room finally was turned to green.

The patient's wife was on her feet in a second as soon as the door was opened. A relief sobbing was heard as the woman heard the good news from the nurse. Her husband was now passed the critical situation. They only needed to monitor him closely in intensive care unit before was released to regular care. The woman then rushed with the nurse and led his husband who was still unconscious on the bed to the prepared room.

A few minutes after they were gone, the operation door was opened again.

This time, a young man in his middle twenties was walking out of the door in his white coat.

His face looked like a pure Asian descent. It was smooth and beautiful with a firm jaw and defined cheek. He had straight dark eyebrows with sword like point. His eyes were a pure black that was so dark like a black abyss and decorated by long and delicate black eyelashes. His nose was straight with small point while his lips were thin and small with natural pale pink colored. His fair skins were highlighting all of his beautiful features.

    His name was Zhou Zhiqiang.

He was the doctor who was taking in charge of the emergency operation just now. He was a pure Chinese and only 25 years old. He was known to be one of geniuses among surgeons in the hospital because he was already ahead of other in the same age. Almost all surgeons in his age usually just graduated from the surgeon school or just entered a surgeon residency training program.

A neurosurgeon needed at least seven years residency training in a hospital before becoming an independent neurosurgeon. Different with a general surgeon, a neurosurgeon was specialist in head or brain illness. Zhou Zhiqiang was about to finish his third years residency training. In two months he would enter his forth years and need thinking early on about his research for a neurosurgery.

Zhiqiang sighed lightly as he was entering the ED office. He took a glass of water and drank it before walking to his desk. A nurse was then entering the office not long after he sat on the chair.

"Dr. Zhou!" The nurse knocked the door lightly as a warning before she walked toward him.

The ED office was a large office especially for any staffs that had an ED work shift. So it was a public room that any staffs could enter freely. As one of senior surgeon, he certainly had his own office in Neurosurgery Department. But as he was still a residency neurosurgeon in training, he also needed to expand his experiences in ED therefore at least thrice in a week he needed to visit this office.

"Here the admission for the patient just now. It needs your sign, Dr. Zhou." The nursed said as she gave the paper in her hand to the doctor.

Zhiqiang read the report in detail before giving his sign on below. He gave the report back to the nurse, but the nurse quickly gave him another report.

"This?" Zhiqiang looked down to the report.

"It is the report from yesterday's patients. After you checked it, the patient would formally enter the regular treatment under Dr. Richard's care." The nurse explained in shy tone as she glanced at the doctor's handsome face discreetly.

Zhou Zhiqiang just hummed in agreement. He read briefly the report. He remembered yesterday he also received accident cases too. They were less severe than today, but still needed an operation from him.

Recently there were so many accident cases. In one night shift, he could even receive two to three cases. He was almost non-stop doing an operation at his night shift even with many other surgeons beside him.

Maybe, instead to call them recently, it would be more accurate to call it since a week ago.

That's right, the cause of many these accident began since a week ago.

    It was rains.

Heavy rains were overflowing without stopping even a second ever since a week ago.

It was pouring in constant continuously, not too heavy, but not lightly either. But it was certainly disturbing many people especially the workers. Because of these rains, a lot of driver was getting difficulty to see the road in blurring sight especially at night.

Many scientists and weather specialists had not found the cause of this abnormality. Therefore the government could only give a cautious warning to all people and extra donations to help their people.

Beside the accidents, flooding also was happening in a lot of places. Zhiqiang had heard there was a sudden escalating of case in flu, diarrhea, hypothermia, high fever, cholera, allergies, and so on from other doctors.

But, even after all those things that had happened. There was one thing that gave everyone a cold chills in the spines.

The continuous rain was happening in every inches of the world.

Regardless of the country, climate, weather, or even season, all the sky above the earth was pouring continuously. Even here, New York City that should be still in the peak of summer season, the rain was still pouring non-stop without care.

The end of the world, they said.

    A great apocalypse, they said.

A god punishment, a god crying, a devil curse, a witch's doing, the doom of the world, arrival of another world, an alien's attack and so on many other ridiculous things that people said in panic in the social medias.

The government could only say for people to keep calm and they would soon handle it. But with the rain kept pouring non-stop even after a week, no one believed them.

Zhou Zhiqiang sighed in relief as he finally finished his shift for tonight. It was early in the morning now. Today was his day off, so he decided to sleep all day as soon as he reached his home.

Zhiqiang looked up at the sky from the ground floor of hospital. His furrowed his eyebrows a bit as he saw the dark sky. The sunrise could not even be seen a bit behind the thick dark clouds. But it was normal thing even since a week ago.

However, Zhiqiang felt there was something different in the sky today. He just could not name it clearly.

He stared up at the sky for a while, before finally giving up without care. Any tiny different most likely would not make the rain stopped after all.

It should be an eighth rain now.

A lot of people called the rain abnormality as seventh rain for seven days of continuous raining. It was the start of the eight day ever since the rain was pouring.

Zhou Zhiqiang opened his umbrella before running to his car in the parking a lot. He shivered a bit in cold and turned on the car heater in seconds. Then with swift hand, he started to drive the car home.

His home was just a medium apartment in a building not far from the hospital. Because of his job, he needed to be able rushing to hospital in any moment. If not for this reason, he would have chosen to live in the China Town area in the Lower Manhattan. Therefore he chose a closer apartment with only five minutes driving in distance. If not for the rain, he would prefer to jog toward the hospital to keep his body fit.

After arriving home, Zhou Zhiqiang immediately was taking shower. Even though he loved medical study, he disliked a smell of medicines was lingering on his body while he was sleeping.

He came out of the bathroom with only a dark boxer was dripping lowly on his hip. Teasing curls of dark hair was seen peeking up from the top of his boxer.

Using a towel, he wiped his black hair dry in a lazy movement causing the water was slipping down from his head to his chest temptingly. This motion caused his fair skin was glistening beautifully under the light while the muscles in his stomach rippled in sexy motion each times he moved around.

After he felt his body was dry enough, he threw the towel carelessly to the floor, before flopping on the bed in a huff. His hand was reaching out toward his phone on the bedside table.

With a lazy motion, he read the news about the rain incident on the internet.

There had not any news about the rain again from the government. Almost all news in the internet was same with yesterday. People were gossiping non-stop about the rain apocalypse. Seeing no important news, Zhiqiang placed his phone back on the table and turned off the lamp before closing his eyes

In just a few minutes, he was sleeping soundlessly.

Unbeknown by him, a while after he slept, the rain was abruptly stopped.

The world turned in silence shock as white thick fogs suddenly was arrived and enveloping every inches of the world.

It was then the world was changing.

    .

    .

    .

Zhou Zhiqiang opened his eyes groggily.

He yawned as he stretched his body in lazy movement showing his beautiful curve. A low moan was heard from his lips as he moved his body.

Weird, why did he felt his body was so stiff?

His body felt like it hadn't moved for a long time. Did he just sleep in wrong position?

Zhiqiang thought in absentminded as he rubbed his temple in dizziness. He sat up from his bed and swept the room with his dark eyes briefly as he reached for his phone. But that brief glance immediately froze as soon as he saw the state of his room.

    This…

Zhou Zhiqiang stared at his room in confused eyes.

    Was he still dreaming?!

Zhiqiang thought in muddle head. He pinched his skin hard and even felt more confused as he felt the pain from his pinch.

    This…

    What the hell was happening?

    Was he really not dreaming?

Zhou Zhiqiang stared over at his room in blank mind. He felt like there was something dirty covering his brain and stopping him to think in a clear mind.

His black eyes were sweeping the state of his room in daze.

A green plant, yes, he supposed that was a green plant, with a size so big, almost a meter in diameter was breaking through his apartment wall from outside.

His apartment that was in the ninth floor of the building…

Cold winds were breezing into his room from outside the cracks of the wall.

Zhou Zhiqiang blinked from his daze, as he felt chills were spreading over his body because of the breeze.

Absentmindedly, he removed the blanket covering his body to the side. He placed his feet on the floor. Blinking in surprise when he felt something wet was touching his feet. He looked down to the carpet on his feet before sweeping his dark eyes all over the floors in his room.

The floors were wet as if dews were just covering them. There were even a few of puddle of water on a few places.

Green vines were hanging all over his room like his room was just transported into a wild jungle.

    Did it?

Zhou Zhiqiang thought in daze. He blinked a few times, before he swept his room once more this time with a clearer mind.

He noticed the wall of his apartment had a lot of cracks with vines or branches of the plant breaking in, causing his room looked like just got attacked by a lot of wild plants. There was even a lot of mushroom and mold was forming on the floors and the walls. Wet muds that he suspected from the dusts were covering all furniture in the apartment.

Zhou Zhiqiang stood off from the bed in rush, ignoring the aches that he felt in his body before walking toward a large hole in the wall where the large green plant was breaking in from outside.

Carefully he grabbed the wall as handle before looking over outside from the hole of the wall.

His black eyes was soon widening in shock.

    This…

What the hell had happened to the city?!!

Chapter 2. Hey, beautiful, let’s camp in the jungle with me.

Zhou Zhiqiang stared in daze at the city outside from the hole in his apartment.

He supposed the correct words to describe the city right now were a wild and huge wilderness just fell into the city. That's right, fell.

Because what else he could say to the wilderness that was suddenly appeared covering all over city in just one night?!

Huge plants and trees was growing all over the places without care, breaking a lot of building that he had hard times to discern which this building and that building were.

If not from him already familiar with the city, he would not be able tell any those ruins of building.

From a far, he could see the NYC Hospital Center he works for. The building was in half ruin. An enormous tree was growing from the ground floor in the left building and breaking through to the sky topping over the hospital that had more than a hundred meter in height. Green vines were branching all over the building from the tree.

He looked over his own apartment building. There was also a huge tree that was growing from the front yard of building. It was not as tall as the hospital tree, but it was still high enough to top over his apartment building. The large green plant that was breaking through his wall was one of branch from the huge tree.

He suddenly felt thankful his building was strong enough to not fall in ruin like other building. Just the thought of dying in the middle of ruins while sleeping was causing him shivering in chills

Zhou Zhiqing blinked in surprise as he finally noticed the sky was bright blue. There were no more thick dark clouds. The rains really had stopped!

    Since when?!

From the bight of the sky, the rains should be stopped since a long time ago. A sun was seen hanging high in the sky.

Wait, what was the time right now?

What was the date right now?

Who said it was just one night since he was slept?!

Zhiqing rushed to his room. He grabbed his phone from the bedside table and switched it on. A frustrated sigh was released by him as he couldn't turn on the phone no matter what.

He switched on the lamp, television, and all electronic things on his apartment. But not even one of them was on. All of them were dead. Figure the electricity was dead when the wilderness apocalypse came.

He breathed a relief sigh as he finally found a flashlight that was on. It seemed he still could use any electronic device that was using batteries. His phone must be dead because the battery was empty. But that just let him confirmed an information that gave him chills.

Days really should had passed since he slept.

He especially bought a phone that had a long battery life. His phone should at least be able to last three days in standby mode. He also remembered he just charged the phone full before sleeping. If his phone was dead, it was at least three days since he slept or there was something that caused it dead.

But he guessed on the former more because he remembered his body was aches a lot when waking up. He also felt dizziness in his head. Anyone would felt a lot of aches, stiffness, weakness when waking up from coma.

Zhiqiang checked condition of his body. Furrowing his eyebrows as he felt something strange was in his body. He just could not tell what it was.

As a doctor, he always paid attention of his body. The state of stiffness and aches in his body should because of a long vegetative state for at least a week. But seeing the speed of his body recovery was telling him otherwise.

Only just before, he felt a lot of aches and stiffness when waking up. But it was not even ten minutes since he checked outside but the aches and stiffness was already vanishing. The dizziness in his head was even long gone since a while ago.

This recovery speed was three to five times faster than his normal recovery.

Loud grumbles were then heard from his stomach. He frowned a bit as he felt the state of hunger in his body. He was so hungry like he hadn't eaten any food for a month. Even though there was no aches and stiffness in his body anymore, but his body felt so weak and empty.

He walked toward the kitchen. Praying in heart the food would not be expired.

Zhiqiang could only let out a frustrated sigh as he saw a lot of mold and fungus was growing in the foods inside the fridge. After searching his cupboards, he finally found edible biscuits and a few of canned food. He swept them up in a flash, letting a relief sigh as his hunger was temporary die down for now.

After drinking a few gulp of water, he then browsed his clothes in the closets. Almost all of them were wet, full of mold and fungus. But he finally found a clean and dry jeans, shirt and thick jacket. He wore them without hesitation.

He grabbed a usable big backpack from the closets. He filled another clothes in them, and then grabbed a lot of usable water bottle he could find, there were only six by the way. He filled them with clean water before storing them in the backpack.

After a few moment of thought, he also grabbed a lighter, two flashlights and a few extra batteries he found, his medicine kit and all sharp knifes he could find in the kitchen before storing them all inside his backpack.

He slipped a large kitchen knife inside his jacket pocket and a few small knifes inside his jeans pocket. He felt thankful for his love in cooking in his free times. He had a lot of kitchen appliances.

Then he picked the strongest boot he had and wore them on his feet, before slipping a small knife inside the boot. More cautiousness would not hurt after all. He didn't know what dangerous thing that was waiting him outside, but he wanted to be prepared at least.

After he felt prepared enough, he finally walked toward the door.

His door was wet, full of mold and fungus, since it was created from a wood. He carefully pulled open the door, and sneaked a peek outside. It was quiet in the corridor. Outside was a bit dim since the lamp was dead. Without even checking, he knew the elevator would not be functional since there was no electricity.

First thing first, he had to search for food and then walked toward hospital or police station to ask any authorities about what had happened to the city. He prefer to hospital since it was familiar domain.

He walked toward the next door apartment and knocked for a while. There was no answer and the door was also locked. He never really close with his neighbors but didn't mean he didn't know them. He at least wanted to know if any other people were survived.

He knocked many apartment doors in the corridor as he walked toward the staircase. But he received no answer. He finally found the last door before the staircase was not locked.

Zhou Zhiqiang carefully opened the door. But as soon as the sight inside the room was seen, he froze in shock.

    The room… was in ruin...

All the wall of this apartment was broken. A large tree was breaking brutally into the room from below. Almost walls and floors were in ruin. He could even see a bright sky clearly from the door like there was no wall at all.

His dark eyes quickly stopped to the corner of the room. There was a lot of tainted liquid in there that looked like a dry blood.

Zhiqiang rushed carefully toward it. An unpleasant smell quickly reached his nose. He held his breath, immediately knew what was the cause of the stink.

He cleared rubbles of wall and chairs from the corner. A corpse of human was finally seen under the rubbles. It was old man.

Zhou Zhiqiang held his breath as he saw the body. There was a large wound on the stomach and the head with a lot of maggots swarmed around them. The body already yellowed red, looked bloated and mushy. Fluids were spilling out from the wound and cracks of skin as if the old man had dead from two weak ago.

But, from the state of the room, the man obviously died when the jungle disaster came. The old man was either unconscious or couldn't save himself when the disaster came so he found himself trampled by the ruins.

Did that mean the disaster came two weeks ago? So Zhiqiang had been in unconscious state for a long two weeks?!

Zhiqiang could not help but shivered a bit thinking what would happen if the thing that happened to the old man also happened to him.

He shook his head and took a large cloth to cover the old man's corpse. But as he was about to do so, something caught his eyes. The maggots, there was something different about the maggots.

Zhiqiang was sure a normal maggot was not that large. After he looked at them attentively, the maggots were indeed twice larger than normal. They also vicious red colored. There were even purple colored ones that looked ominous.

The longer he stared, the longer he felt the maggots were really strange. He felt hair was standing at the back of his nape as he stared at them.

Zhiqiang shook his head and quickly covered the corpse with a cloth before walking out fast from the room. After slamming the door shut, the clear air immediately inhaled by him.

As surgeon, he had seen too much of dead and corpses to feel sad or disgust about them. Even so, the sight of corpse just now really made him felt strange. As if there was something that clawing at his mind to tell him something, but he did not know what it was no matter how much he thought about them.

Zhiqiang let out a sigh before continued to walk toward the staircase.

Thankfully the staircase was not broken, so he could climb down to the ground floor without any problem.

The ground floor was as empty as upper floor. If not for him finding the old man body, he would think only him who was stranded in the middle of wilderness city. He had heard a lot about transmigration novel in Chinese after all.

He walked out of the apartment building and immediately froze in stunned.

Even though he already saw them from his apartment, the sight before him still made his shock.

The city was really like a wilderness.

Zhiqiang walked toward the parking lot in daze, touching the grass that was almost as tall as his body. The grasses that should only reach his feet were now reaching up to his chest, only his head to his upper chest that was seen in the thick grasses. He looked over the road in distance, finding only thick and long grasses before his eyes.

He could only abandon his car then, he thought in a sigh.

Zhou Zhiqiang decided to find a convenience store first and search for foods. He remembered there was one at few hundreds meter distance from his apartment building. He walked toward its direction cautiously.

The grasses was really disturbing his sight. If not for him taller than the grass he would not be able see at all. Thankfully the journey was peaceful beside a lot of big plant here and there. He almost felt like it was not a city anymore. Almost all buildings beside the road were broken and full of plant. It did not seem like a city anymore, more like an abandoned ruin in the middle of wilderness.

He looked up in awe as he saw a huge tree was standing tall ruining a building beside it. He blinked in surprise as he saw a huge van was stuck in the middle of the tree roots. It seemed the van was in the middle of running when the tree was suddenly growing from the ground.

Now, he thought about it, there was a lot of car that was crashed in the middle of road. He quickly walked toward one of them. After getting rid of the plant and grass from the broken car, he finally could see the passenger.

But a disappointment was filling him as he saw the driver was dead.

Zhiqiang covered his nose as smell of rotting reached his nose once he checked the body. The driver was stuck in the driver seat as the car was crashed to other car.

He checked the driver in other car, finding them in same condition. Zhiqiang furrowed his eyebrows while he checked the driver. There was just something that made him felt strange seeing them.

From the condition of the car, it seemed the car was crashing without any resistance. It was in the middle of crossroad after the traffic lamp. Two cars were crashing from two opposite road. The driver had his body laid flat on the steering wheel. There was no sign of resistance to steer the car to avoid the crash or any move to get out of the car before crashing.

The driver looked like just laid flat on the wheel without any resistance while the car was crashed. It as if the driver was sleeping… like he was unconscious before the crashing…

Zhou Zhiqiang widened his eyes at his own conjecture. Don't tell him—!

They all fell into unconscious state like him?!

He checked the other driver and found even more convince of his conjecture.

But why?! What was the cause?

Did all people in the city fall into unconscious state before the disaster?

Zhiqiang rubbed his chin in thought. He stared over the road, thinking to check the car one by one. But after a moment of thought, he decided it would be too troublesome. The most important thing right now was searching foods for his survival, not the cause of this disaster.

But as he was about to continue walking, a rustling noise suddenly was heard from behind the tall grass. Zhiqiang froze and turned his head in cautious motion.

However after looking around for a while he didn't find anything. Did he just misread it? He thought nervously. He calmed his breath and decided to ignore it. Maybe he really did misread it. Even though his mind said so, his palm could not help but gripped tightly his knife inside the jacket.

Zhiqiang walked again toward the convenience store direction. He kept his ears focus to his surroundings. His heart was beating louder as he was walking in tight nerve.

    KROSAK!

Zhiqiang flinched hard as a loud rustling noise suddenly was heard behind him. He quickly turned around with his right hand arose holding tight his knife.

"Who?!" He called cautiously. But only thick tall grass was seen in front of his sight. He waited for a while before releasing a relief sigh. As he was about to walk again, a flash dark thing suddenly pounced at him in fast speed.

Zhiqiang gasped aloud. His vision turned dark in second as his body was thrown hard to the ground with the dark thing attacked at his body. He cried out in fear and pain, raising his knife wildly to the dark thing.

He heard a loud hissing noise like in a pain and the dark thing were jumped away again. Zhiqiang forced his body to stand quickly, hissing out in pain as he felt a sharp sting on his stomach. He lifted his shirt immediately to see a large scratching wound on his chest. Bloods was dripping out of the wound making red stain on his shirt.

A loud growling was heard in front of him instantly waking him from the daze. Zhiqiang held his breath and stared at the thick grasses in front of him. He could not see the dark thing that just attacked him because of the thick grasses, but he could feel its hungry gaze at his body. His blood must make the thing even more ravenous now.

A loud rustling noise was heard again before that dark thing was jumping out again to attack him. But this time, Zhiqiang was more prepare, he quickly rolled on the ground to avoid the attack, gritting his teeth hard from the pain in his chest. He stood again without wasting time and immediately rushed to attack back.

He swung his knife hard to the thing, but it jumped away to avoid him easily and pounced to attack him again instead.

"Fuck!!" Zhiqiang cursed aloud as he threw his body to the side, missing the sharp claw in a breath. The dark thing growled in annoyance and stalked toward him again.

Zhiqiang widened his eyes in shock as he finally could see the dark thing in clear sight. It was a dog. At least, he suspected it was a black dog before. It was huge, about two meters in height. With a sharp and very long fang grew from it jaws. There were sharp spikes growing in his spine, making him looked even more monstrous.

A mutated dog? Zhiqiang thought in confused mind. The sight of the strange maggots immediately flashed in his mind. Don't tell him all animals were mutated like the plants?!

He grabbed the knife tighter to stop his trembling. He knew he could not win against this monster. He could clearly see that the monster did not kill him already because a carnivore liked to play with his prey before eating them. He also could not to run away from the monster speed. He would only make the monster even more excited to play him.

He looked around his surroundings in brief to search any way out. But it seemed the monster was getting bored as he growled again before attacking him again.

    "Fuck!!"

Zhiqiang quickly ran to avoid it, but his body was thrown hard to the ground as the monster swung his claw at him again. A sharp pain was instantly felt by from his back. Zhiqiang gritted his teeth in pain and quickly rolled his body again to his back at the same time of the monster pounced at him body again. Without hesitation he stabbed his knife to the eye of the monster as it opened his sharp jaw at him

    ROARR!

The monster roared in pain as bloods quickly spurted out from its left eye. Zhiqiang tried to stab the knife even deeper, but the monster threw his body with its claw to the side.

Zhiqiang coughed in pain as his body fell hard into the ground again. He gritted his teeth hard, before without hesitation forced his body to stand up and run away quickly.

Chills were spreading all over his back as he heard a loud angry growl from behind. Zhou Zhiqiang held his wound tightly and ran even faster. His heart was beating loud as he quickly looked around a place for hiding. A flash of traffic light was seen in his sight, making him realize he was running back to his apartment.

Panting breaths was soon felt by him. His chest felt suffocated from running nonstop. But he could not stop his running. He could hear the monster was getting closer. He looked around trying to find a building that was still intact for a hiding place.

A huge tree was seen in far distance. He took a quick glace behind him to see the monster was already in a few meter behind him. Gritting his teeth, he pushed his feet to run even faster toward the huge tree. A huge van was seen under the huge root of the tree. The door at the back of the van was opened, making him even more desperately to run toward him.

After it was only a meter distance to the van, he jumped into the van without hesitation and pulled the door closed hard at the same time with the monster pounced at the door.

    BANG!!

A heavy strength was slammed hard to the door of the van, causing a huge dent was formed instantly on the metal door. Zhiqiang held his breath in tensed as he felt the van was trembling.

The van would not be broken right? He thought in fear as he saw the real strength from the monster.

The monster growled at the van angrily. He paced a few time at the van, sniffing here and there, searching away to get him.

    BANG!!

The monster slammed its body to the door again in anger. It did not seem to give up anytime soon.

Zhiqiang stared at the huge dent on the door that was getting even wrecker. The van was trembling dangerously now.

Fuck, he really had to search another way out. Zhou Zhiqiang cursed aloud.

    Whistle ~

A low sound suddenly was heard behind him, causing him to flinch hard. Zhiqiang turned his body sharply, staring with wide eyes toward the sound source.

Behind him was metal cage, or maybe it was cell, because he suddenly noticed a police icon inside the van. This van must be a prisoner transport van.

Inside the cell was dark, but he could vaguely see a blond man sitting inside with a pair of silvery blue eyes staring at him in intense.

The blond man whistled again in appreciative tone as those blue eyes was gazing his body up to down.

"You are so beautiful." A low teasing voice was heard from the man.

"Who are you?!" Zhiqiang asked sharply in tensed voice.

Under the dim light, Zhiqiang somehow could see a smirk was forming on the man's lips.

With a teasing voice, the man said again. "Seem like you need a help there, pretty doll."

Chapter 3. Roasting a meat is a must for our first date, right, pretty doll?

A pair of black eyes and a pair of silvery blue eyes were staring in tense at each other.

No, maybe, it was only the black eyes that were in tense, while the silvery blue eyes were staring at him in hungrily.

Zhou Zhiqiang pursed his lips as he stared at the blond man in somewhat angry, cautious and relief feeling.

"What do you want?!" Zhiqiang asked again in tensed voice. The blond man was inside the cell therefore he must be a prisoner, right?!

Under the shadow, Zhiqiang saw the man titled his head at him. A smirk was still on his lips as he replied in his teasing tone. "You don't want my help, pretty doll?"

Zhiqiang scowled somewhat annoyed at the man tone. "Don't call me that, and I don't need your help."

"You sure, babe?" The man smirked further at him.

    BANG!!

The van was slammed hard again by the monster's attack as if further proving his state to the blond man. The vibration was shaking the van hard for a while before stopping.

Zhiqiang pursed his lips and refused to say anything. He stared tensely at the monster outside. The door began to crack now. It would not last a few more attack from the monster. He was running out of time.

Inside the van was narrow because of the cell. The ceiling was also low, so he could not stand up properly. The only way to go out of the van was from the wrecked door. While behind him was a large cell that was caging the blond prisoner.

What did he thought the van was a good hiding place again? Zhiqiang thought in regret. But regretting would not solve his situation. So he instantly got rid of it and thought over his situation even more thoroughly.

He looked over the cell, trying to see if there was any door in there.

"There is nothing here, except iron cell, babe. You have to go through that monster to escape here." The blond man teased at him as if he knew what he was thinking.

Zhou Zhiqiang stared at the man suspiciously. "It is you who need my help to let you out of the cell."

The blond man chuckled in amused tone. "It makes us need each other help then, pretty doll."

"Do you really can help me against that monster?" Zhiqiang stared at him not convinced.

"I can help you to escape from that monster, sure, babe." The blond man said simply with a smirk.

Zhiqiang stared at him even more suspiciously. But the thought of the monster made him let out a sigh. It was not like he had any other choice.

He looked over the cell. The cell had narrow iron nets, so the prisoner could not use his hand to open the lock from inside. The iron door was thick. He could not help but thinking what would happen to the blond man if he didn't come here.

After looking over the lock, he let out a small relief. Thankfully, the iron door was not using a key since searching the key would only complicate his situation even more. But he needed to understand the mechanism a bit. It was using some kind of magnetic lock. This was the first time he know the police was using this kind of lock. He pulled over the leaver, and rotated it a few times before a loud clicked was heard from the door.

He grabbed the door handle and paused to stare at the blond man. "What did you do to be caught by the police?" he suddenly asked in cautious tone.

The blond man titled his head and chuckled amusedly in low tone. "Why, you sure are fast, babe. We haven't even introduced each other names, but you already wanted to know my private life."

Zhou Zhiqiang pursed his lips in irritation. "I don't want you to suddenly hurt me or even kill me after we escape from here. Who know, maybe you are some kind of serial killer or even rapist to be caught here."

"Don't worry, I don't kill a beautiful doll like you, babe." The blond man smirked.

Zhiqiang glared at the man as he noticed the man didn't say anything about raping him. He glanced at the monster behind the van, before finally gritting his teeth and pulled open the door.

A bit of sunlight immediately lighten up the cell from door. It was really just an iron cell inside it. Only a small window connected to driver seat was seen at the back of the cell.

He blinked his eyes a few times trying to see the blond man appearance. A low jingle sound was heard from below. He looked down to see the man have iron shackles in his ankles and wrists.

"I don't have a key to release those." He said frowning. How was he supposed to help him against the monster if his limbs were shackled?

"Nah, you don't have to worry about this." The blond man said in lazy tone before splitting his arms in casual move till the chain between them was taut. Then with a strong pull, the iron chain was broken in loud cracks.

Zhiqiang widened his eyes in shock. He flinched backward as he saw the blond man was moving toward him. There was another loud crack sound as the man broke the chain between his ankles.

Zhou Zhiqiang quickly moved to the side of iron door cautiously, letting the man got out of the cell.

The blond man was huge, was the first thing that Zhiqiang thought as he finally saw the man in close sight. The narrow space inside the van instantly was squeezed empty by the man as he squatted beside him. He could see the thick muscles inside the man's arms and shoulder.

The second thing that was flashing in his mind as he saw the blond man's face was…

    He was so handsome…

The man had a pure Caucasian looks. Ash blond hair, pretty blue eyes, and handsome sculpted face like a high aristocrat. The man was full of masculine aura.

"Hmm, as expected, you are more beautiful from a closer look, doll." The man praised appreciatively as he moved the younger man's chin from left to the right.

Zhiqiang flinched back in surprise, not realizing since when their face were so close. He blinked a few times before glaring coldly at the man. "You said you will help me."

"I did, didn't I?" The man teased with a grin.

"Then hurry up! I am hungry!" Zhiqiang said angrily as he pushed the man to the door.

"Mm, so you want a dinner as our first date, doll? Not bad, meat roast is sound good, right babe?" The blond said with a teasing tone again. But he still moved his body closer to the door.

Zhiqiang just glared at him to shut up which the man replied a bright grin.

After a while the blond man finally turned to observe the monster seriously. The monster was still glaring at the van from outside. Growling would sometimes be let out by it in anger.

He rubbed his chin in curious expression as he said again. "You sure are attracting a beast, babe." But from his tone, there was not any sign of him scared to the monster. Zhiqiang even heard an excitement from the man's voice. This man must be crazy.

Zhiqiang glanced at him curiously. Somehow his fear was disappearing because of this man. "What's your plan?"

"Plan?" The man grinned again at him. "You wanted to know?"

"What is it?" Zhiqiang stared at him suspiciously.

The blond man just grinned and pointed his finger at him to call him closer.

Zhiqiang stared at him even more suspiciously. After a moment, he moved closer to the man to listen to what he said

    "What is it—Mmph?!"

A large hand suddenly pulled his neck forward and a pair of lips was crushing to his lips.

Zhou Zhiqiang widened his eyes in shock. The blond man didn't even give him a chance to respond as he pulled him even closer. Then his lips were being bitten hard by the man and hot tongue was entering his mouth.

"Ngn—!" A low moan could not help but let out by him in surprise. Even though he had kissed before, it was only normal kiss with girls. He never really interested with sexual or even romantic relationship either. All sexual things he ever did was only some experimental here and there.

But this kiss, if it was even called a kiss, was sucking all of his energy. It was really rough and full of bites. The man was sucking, biting his lips, and licking his mouth without care. No even an inch of his mouth was left. Hot and impatient tongue swept inside his mouth sucking all his breaths and fluids. The man was kissing him as if he wanted to suck him empty.

He tried to resist and push then man, found the man's body was so strong. Dizziness started to rush to his head as all his breath was taken away. His body felt weak as he unconsciously swept by pleasure taste of the kiss.

After a while, the blond man finally let go of his lips. He licked the saliva on his chin hungrily as if could not get enough before really releasing him. A dangerous glint was flashing in the silvery blue eyes as the man stared at younger man's red lips. He licked his lips deliciously before smirking in satisfied tone, "Sweet!"

"You—!" Zhiqiang glared in anger. His breaths were panting hard. He really wanted to punch the man to the pulp, but his body felt so weak after the kiss.

The blond man grinned at him and said teasingly, "Wait after the dinner, babe," before he suddenly kicked open the door and jumped at the monster without warning.

"What—?!" Zhiqiang jumped in taken back. But the blond man already rushed to the monster. The monster roared excitedly and he pounced at the new prey.

    That fucker!!!

Zhou Zhiqiang cursed aloud. He really should not believe at that fucker!!!

Zhiqiang quickly got out of the van too. He walked in cautious motion to avoid the battle. Thankfully, the monster was focused to the blond man so it didn't bother to him who was trying to get away.

If the man showed any sign of losing from the monster, he would immediately run on the spot!

However, after a while, he was surprised to find the blond man was as strong as the monster. It had been a few minutes, but the blond was not showing any sign of losing. He even punched the monster hard a few times, causing it roaring in pain. He realized the blond man was really huge. Although not extremely muscular, but the man was tall, almost two meter in height. No wonder he could hold his ground against the monster that was about in same height.

The monster pounced angrily at the man who equally rushed without fear. They were crashed in the middle, pushing at each other. The man grabbed hard the jaw of the monster, preventing it from biting him while the monster kept pushing it jaw to bit the man torso. They fell into stalemate as their strength was equally pushing at each other.

The monster was glaring in anger at the blond man. But the man was just grinning in excitement. The ground was cracking as the man's feet pushed down even more strength to hold his foot. Muscles were crackling strongly on his thick arms. Then he forced all his strength to his grip on the monster jaws and then with unbelievable power, the blond lifted the monster's body using its jaw and slammed away the monster to ground in loud bang.

Zhiqiang inhaled a breath sharply as he saw the man's strength.

The monster rolled into the ground roaring in pain and anger. It tried to lift his body again, but found out no strength from his body.

The blond man walked toward it curiously. "Done?"

The monster was growling in anger as a reply. Its body was trembling and full of pain, but it still forced to lift his body with difficulty and prepared its body to attack again.

"What are you doing?! You should kill it already!!" Zhiqiang shouted in irritation seeing the man was just lazy around observing monster's pain.

"Hm?" The blond man titled his head toward him in question. A teasing smirk was on his lips as he looked at the black hair man. The man opened his mouth to say something, but paused when Zhiqiang widened his eyes in fear as he cried out. "Watch out!!"

The monster suddenly attacked again with its last strength. Its sharp jaw opened wide to bite the man shoulder. The man turned his head quickly, but the monster was too fast and crashing to the man sharply.

Zhiqiang cursed out as he saw the man was thrown hard to the ground with the monster bit his shoulder. He ran toward them before pausing immediately in a few steps.

Fuck!! He should just run now instead!! The man was so dead!!

Zhiqiang cursed in his mind and he turned around his body. But after a few steps he could not move again. His morality could not let him to just leave the man dead like that. He also felt guilty if the man was dead because of fighting the monster to help him.

Zhou Zhiqiang gritted his teeth as turned his body again. But the scene in front of him immediately made his froze.

A laughing was suddenly heard from the blond man. It was loud and full of excitement. Zhiqiang didn't know why, but he felt a chill was spreading to his spine as he heard the laugh.

The man tried to lift his body, but the monster got his shoulder in its jaw. Growling angrily was the monster refused to release its bit. A crushing sound was heard as it bit even harder.

The man narrowed his eyes in displeasure. "You are not cute at all," he said in flat tone before with a sudden force, the man slammed the monster away to the side. Then with a speed that a normal human could not see, the man pounced at the monster with a large knife in his right hand.

    SLASH!!

The knife swung with strong force to the monster stomach. Blood immediately spurted out staining the man's face. But he ignored it without expression and stabbed the monster again repeatedly with a fast speed.

The monster roared aloud in pain, struggling to get away. But the man gripped it with strong force and kept stabbed it without mercy. It was bloodbath. The man kept swung his knife hundreds times before the monster finally let out a last whine and didn't move again.

Zhiqiang inhaled a sharp breath. His body was frozen to the spot as he saw the cruel scene. The man didn't stop his knife even after the monster stopped moving. Blood was spurting out everywhere bathing the man in a lot of blood. But it was not the blood that made him felt chilled in fear.

    It was the man's expression.

The blond man was smiling. His blue eyes were blazing in excitement and bloodlust as if torturing the monster was the most interesting thing in the world.

The man stopped his stabbing after a while. He titled his head in disappointment as he saw the monster was really dead. He then turned his face to look at the black haired man.

Zhiqiang held his breath sharply. He could not stop his body to flinch a few steps back in fear when the man was staring at him with his blue eyes.

The blond man titled his head at him in curiosity. He stood off from the monster body and raised his knife to clean it with his bloody shirt. "Are you afraid?" he asked in curious tone.

Zhiqiang forced his body to not flinch. He recognized the knife as his kitchen knife that he used to stab the monster's eye. He swallowed with difficulty to hide his fear. But the man noticed it as his blue eyes suddenly turned cold.

"N-nothing!" Zhiqiang immediately replied in panic. He shook his head quickly and forced his body to calm down. He cleared his throat discreetly. "It's nothing."

Then as casual as he could, he turned his body to the van as distraction. "I wanted to check the the van." He explained with a tone as calm as he could and walked toward the front door of the van.

The man didn't answer. Zhiqiang also didn't dare to glance behind him, so he quickly turned his focus to the van as if he was not actually wanted to run away from the man.

There was a large tree root that was breaking through the drive seat. Zhiqiang saw a police man was dead in his seat with the root was stabbing his body. It was gruesome. Thankfully the door was not locked.

He held his breath quickly as unpleasant smell of decayed body reached his nose after he opened the door. He then searched the police man's clothes, carefully avoiding the rotting body. It was bit difficult as the large root was half covering the body. But he let out a low relief sound as he finally found what he was searching for. It was a gun. He didn't know what type, but it similar to a revolver and the bullets was still full inside.

He took a quick glance to the blond man who was still on the monster corpse and discreetly slipped the revolver inside his jacket.

He searched the police body again, but did not find anything again except a ring of key. He stared at the key for a moment before finally taking it.

Zhiqiang then walked around the van to open the other side of door. He immediately searched the passenger seat and the front compartment. He did not find anything except a lighter, some tobacco and a black briefcase.

He opened the briefcase to only find some documents inside. With a disappointment he closed the briefcase again. But as his hand lifted the lid, a flash of picture caught his eyes. He paused and picked the document carefully.

It was the blond man's photo. It was half body photo with his face facing camera. The blond man had same clothes he wore right now.

Below the picture was his name.

    [Dominick Black, 28 years old.]

There was a brief description about the man's appearance, birth date, height and so on below the name. Zhiqiang flipped the page uninterested. His dark eyes paused as he read the next page. It was list of crimes of the blond man.

His black eyes widened a little as he read the crime.

[Killing. Victims : 2 people, a woman and a man]

There was a brief description of the incident and the way of killing. But the date told him it happened a week ago.

He skipped to next page briefly, finding more curious about the next crime. The next page was about a past crime. But his dark eyes widened in shock as soon as he read the incident date and the age of blond man when it happened.

[At the age of ten, Dominick Black killed his own family which consisted of father, mother and sister.]

Zhiqiang inhaled his breath sharply. He skipped the description to the special information that was added in lower page.

There, in capital bold texts, one sentence was listed.

    [Diagnosed as a Psychopath]

Zhiqiang stared blankly at the bold text. But his hand was trembling hard in gripping the paper, showing the fear he was feeling right now.

    "What are you reading?"

The blond man's voice was heard beside him. Zhiqiang flinched hard and quickly turned around to hide the paper. But it seemed he was not fast enough as the blond man's eyes immediately narrowed his eyes as he stared at the paper behind Zhiqiang's back.

"Ah that…" The blond man murmured. A dark glint flashed in his blue eyes in a second before vanished again. The blond man raised his eyes to stare at the black eyes interestedly.

Zhiqiang held his breath and he stared back to the blue eyes in a forced calm.

They stared at each other for a while before low chuckles was released by the blond man.

The man titled his head at him curiosity. A teasing smirk was curled at the corner of his lips as he said in a low magnetic voice.

"Well, doll, are you regretting for releasing me now?"
