ML comments pretty early in series that he can see people's souls. Red = kills, black = evil, white = good. Even when he kills, MC's soul is pure white. And all kinds of animals and plants unequivocally love the MC and will grow for him. Turns out this is related to the MC's parentage. I'm a bit fuzzy on this in MTL, but MC seems to not be human either. He has demon blood like ML or something similar.

Yes, we get lots of cute moments. MC likes to pick up animals. There's a funny scene near beginning of novel when MC shows ML the paradise he developed for his strays. There's a fluffy black duck that acts all haughty until ML tells MC he wants to eat duck and details the process of killing, cleaning, and roasting a duck... MC is busy remembering all the scars, etc. on the ML from his hard life and just says, okay, if you want roast duck you can have roast duck. The poor black duck is scared out of his wits by the demon child. XD

You definitely can, it's doable. The ML's name can be hard to catch but if you get a grip on his character you should be able to figure out which lines are his.

 

Nope, think of red names in PVP (if you game). It's just an indicator of how many people a person has killed. So a mass murderer would be super red vs. a regular joe schmoe who'll lack the red tint.

 

Then what's the difference between black and red? I know there are black who won't be red and red who won't be black, but what about people who are both?

Also, I 100% agree with the author's comments for this series being hilarious~ If someone translates this, the author comments should definitely be included.

 

Then their souls will be both black and red colored. ML sees a lot of people who are a mixture of colors. So someone can have a 30% black and 70% white soul.

 

Oh @winter-t I saw your page giving reviews on novels, I wanted to ask about "rebirth of chen an". I got the the fantasy arc and got so confused by what was going on, I wanted to ask how quickly it gets resolved and how long that arc is. I might go back to finish it.(i stopped because I thought google translate failed me once they went into a different timeline or something)

ML doesn't need to lol. He takes action independently of MC, and like MC, he knows which people are bad this time around. No need to look at souls.

 

What about in their first life?

 

Seeing a soul's color isn't a cheat lol. Just because someone's 60% black (for example) doesn't mean they'll act against you. So I'm guessing that the ML couldn't tell if the people around the MC would act against him for sure, if at all. By the time MC was killed, it was too late.
