(not a bad thing for the next head of state?). She also has body strengthening magic that lets her be a little superhuman. (everyone with magic can do this). She is "imprisoned"(from the book she knows of a secret door) in the tower by her father to learn proper control, he does provide for her, by assigning her a maid(both are children??? WTF?). Alicia the maid's magic is countering other people's magic Luxeria was in a rush to move into the tower as her abilities are are painful? for her. So she and Alicia spend the first few weeks cleaning and building furniture. Self inflicted cindetela CH 6-10 Luxeria and Alicia are spending their time deepening their friendship, studying and doing other cute things 8 year old girls are likely to do. During Luxeria's 9th birthday an assassination attempt is made on her and the rest of the royal family. Luxeria's parents are killed and she blames herself because she summoned the ancestral weapon to protect Alicia Spoiler: Overview Ch. 11-20 After the assassination attempt Alicia has amnesia and Luxeria's magic isn't working. She returns to the palace to take up the throne backed by te slade Marquis family. After examination by a magician she learns her magic is still there and she just has to rest it for 7-8 years. She then arranges for Alicia to be adopted by count Nicholas and begins her revenge plot with marquiSlade. It apparently involves her appearing useless to expose those that plotted her family's death TIME SKIP 7-8 YEARS GO FIGURE Alicia is back working as luxeria's personal maid. Still no memoy. Alicia is engaged to Marquis Radaford's son, prepping for the wedding AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S REVENGE O'CLOCK World building. We learn the country is a commonwealth of 5 former independent states, each one now having a marquis in control and taking a portion of the national government Spoiler: Overview CH21 - end volume 1 Warning, I managed to make it to CH 30 but then found myself skipping to the end of the volume the story became incredibly difficult to follow,shifts in POV, Plotholes and continuous problems determining who was speaking made reading difficult at best. 21 to 30 We see Luxeria going through the lead up to her corronation and wedding. There's numerous incidents of her fiance apparently cheating on her with a baron's daughter(really? always a baron's daughter, someone who can be eliminated by a sneeze from royalty?). Luxeria meets with a spy who talksabout plans to poison her Fast forward corronation/wedding Surprise Luxeria reveals her magic, mamifests all the swords at her vorronation first takes out her betrothed, then marquis radaford and looks to be moving to crack down on/ exterminate all his relatives. Later we get to see william was her beloved and not really dead but in a coma in the royal panic room Scorecard: 2 Comas 1 Case amnesia 1 plot convenient illness That's three strikes and they're out or at least I'm out of this novel Even if you're stubborn avoidance is a good idea.
