Spoiler The Goal is to Become a Gold Spoon so I Need to be Completely Invulnerable

Hi all! First post, but I did a little MTL of chapter 69 and frankly, if the brother hasn't realized that the prince thinks of him as just a tool, then he's an utter fool. It's abundantly clear that the prince is trying to strong-arm him into giving away his sister, regardless of the feelings of anyone involved. If he were just doing it as a pure political marriage that would be kind of understandable, but it almost seems like he's using it as a loyalty test. The brother has politely, but pretty firmly, told him no, yet the sociopathic little blondie just consistently talks down to him and acts like he has the right to whatever he wants. I really hope the brother breaks away from and revokes all support for him, because he genuinely seems to care for the MC, and it's increasingly clear that the prince is a power hungry douchebag who may only want the MC as a way to guarantee big bro's support.

 

Spoiler: Ch 69 spoiler

Additionally to the previous post it turned out that the Emperor is deliberately touching the mana stones which leads to more monsters attacks, which in a long run might lead to the war with the demon race. This possibility is discussed between the demon prince and his aide. The demon prince is worried that the war will affect MC.
The Crown Prince shows his true colours to the MC’s brother, saying that the brother is not only a friend, but also a vassal of his. And saying that their house has too much power compared to other vassals. After the brother says that he has sweared an oath of allegiance to the CP, but his sister is not his vassal per se, he leaves and CP is thinking to himself that he knew the girl will bring troubles. The last panel shows MC reading some letter and saying it’s troublesome.
Also translators of this chapter have noticed a portrait of Marie Antoinette in BG behind the CP. They don’t know if it was added intentionally or not, but it could be an interesting allusion. Marie Antoinette was the last queen of France before the French Revolution. She was executed at the age of 37 and has became a symbol of what was wrong with the regime in France at that time. Who knows, maybe MC could turn out to be a leading revolutionary in the future, who will ruin the monarchy and class system in her world.

 

Hmmm. The manhwa adaptation seems to be different from the novel. I think the manhwa spiced things up. Here are some surprising things I found out:

Spoiler: Spoilers from Volume 3

• Romana and MC seems distant when she returned with MC’s brother. Even at the new year’s ball where MC’s brother was given the title of duke, MC and Ramona weren’t close. They only seem to make progress after Ramona invited MC out for a meal, just the two of them.

• MC did dance with the first prince at the ball.

• MC still maintains a friendship with the princess and second prince.

• Second prince falls in love at first sight with Ramona at the ball. They met in the private gardens and Ramona comforted him when he was feeling inferior to the first prince. He didn’t tell Ramona whom he felt inferior to though.
• After the ball, second prince called MC to visit him at the palace to tell her that he fell for Ramona. MC tells him that she believes Ramona and her brother are close so she hints that he should give up. He refuses though because it’s not clear with certainty that there is a romantic relationship between Ramona and the brother. He asks MC for her help with Ramona. MC reluctantly tells him maybe she can help a little secretly.

• The day after the ball there was a news article declaring there’s a love triangle with MC and the two princes. A few days later MC, her brother, the first prince and Ramona had lunch together.

• Since Ramona is a commoner, she’s harassed by the noble girls in various ways at social events but knows how to defend herself.

• The proposal by MC’s brother to become empress wasn’t very negative...at least not yet. MC knows she loves demon prince but she thinks it’s hopeless so it’s only right to keep her options open. However, she feels like she would be using the first prince to get over the the demon prince so she thinks it’s not right. Nevertheless, she does go on a date with the first prince. They had a meal and then went to the opera. She enjoyed it. She thinks of the first prince as a good guy and a good friend to her older brother. At the end of the date, she answered the first prince and confirmed that she’s not opposed to a second date.

• MC’s brother already told the first prince to win his sister’s heart because he doesn’t want to force her to marry politically. That’s why they are trying to spend time together to get to know each other.

• The imperial family seem to be using magic research that will empower them to go to war to get more magic stones and overwhelming defeat the demon army. MC doesn’t want demon prince to die by committing suicide over a lost war so she sent a message to demon prince to tell him that war will led to a dangerous consequences for them.

• Oh, at the brother’s title succession, he thanked MC for keeping his title safe during his speech on the podium.
• MC found out about demon princess’s tragic story from the cafe owner. She met him at demon princess’s tomb by coincidence. She went there to see if she can see demon prince because they haven’t met for a very long time.

Spoiler: Final spoilers from Volume 3

• MC persuaded her brother and the first prince to open the martial arts tournament to commoners. This is a tournament usually held around Founder’s Day to celebrate the holiday. MC’s primary motive is to get nobles to acknowledge Ramona’s strength in order to soften her rejection in society. Remember she’s a commoner.

• Ramona does succeed in getting second place at the tournament. MC’s brother, who has the holy sword, won the tournament. MC’s goal did work and nobles became interested in Ramona but of course there were some who still considered her unqualified to stand next to the duke.

• Demon prince also participated in the tournament in disguise but MC recognized him. In the match against her brother, demon prince was hurt by a cut with the holy sword. MC runs to his “locker room” after the match to tend to his wound. She asks him why he participated and he said he wanted to see the power and strength of the holy sword owner. That’s to give an idea just in case of war with the humans. Since Kiel wasn’t there, MC did what she could to tend to his wound which is difficult to heal since it was caused by divine power.

• MC learns that the anonymous ring with mysterious stone that she’s wearing was indeed sent by demon prince. She received it for her birthday but the sender didn’t include a card. She feels happy that he confirmed that it was his gift. It’s a ubiquitous stone in the magic world but extremely rare in the human world and so it’s invaluable.

• MC learns that there are rumors saying that the demon race are plotting war. This leads to her brother, the first prince and Ramona making plans to strike first. MC is, of course, worried about Bergard. She asks second prince if he knows anything about the rumors. Turns out he doesn’t know since the emperor entrusted the response with the first prince.

• MC decides to buy information from Ken to determine what’s going on with the war with demons since her brother won’t tell her anything. She also can’t do anything like warn Bergard because she can’t betray her brother. Ken comes through and sent urgent info to MC about a war at a certain place.

• MC urgently takes a carriage to the site. She meets a few soldiers and asked what happened. The battle was over. It’s kind of confusing but it seems like her brother laid a trap for Bergard and then they used magic suppression tools. The brother fatally wounded Bergard. MC is besides herself with fear over Bergard’s life. The soldiers tell her that the demon prince was able to teleport from the battle but he’s as good as dead.

• MC starts to looks for a place that Bergard might have teleported to. If he was heavily injured like the soldiers say, he must be nearby. She thinks he would have gone to a nearby forest. She goes there and smell the pungent smell of blood. She does find him unconscious and barely breathing. She cries a lot but comes to her senses. She uses the communication device that the second prince gave her to contact him. She tells him to please help her because her precious person is hurt. Second prince does realize that the injured person is a demon just by connecting the dots.

• Second prince arrives in the forest with a blind doctor. The doctor was able to treat Bergard’s fatal wounds while MC and second prince sit nearby talking. Second prince saw Bergard once before. They talk about her acquaintance with Bergard for a bit.

• Second prince and the doctor leaves and MC stays with Bergard waiting for him to regain consciousness. When he does regain consciousness, MC gives him some herbal medicine the second prince left behind to calm his dizziness and slowly restore his strength. MC escorts Bergard back to Black Town where Kiel is able to heal him further. They’re of course upset that some warp magic was used to entrap Bergard.

• When MC and Bergard are alone, they talk about war with the humans. Bergard is indeed reluctant to go to war since he prefers another way to deal with the issue. He assures MC that he would be the leader of any demon army so if he doesn’t move, no other demon would. Bergard is surprised to learn that the second prince helped him.

• MC returns home and falls asleep exhausted. Next day she goes to her brother’s office and divulges to him and Ramona that she saved the demon prince. They were of course shocked but she tells them that the demon prince saved her life when the stepsister tried to poison her. She tells them that Bergard doesn’t want to go to war so they should also think of finding a peaceful solution. Her brother said he will think of finding a peaceful solution.

• MC and second prince talk about his mother’s mirror. MC doesn’t want second prince to get hurt because the original story has the first prince winning anyway. Her brother and Ramona are the hero and heroine and they both support first prince. Second prince admits that his mother showed him the mirror too about how the first prince poisoned his food. The woman had also called MC before to show her a dark side of the first prince in order to discourage her from marrying him. Second prince and MC decide to find out if the mirror shows the truth or falsehood.

• MC wants to find out more information about magic mirrors so Bergard takes her to the demon realm library. They find out that there’re actually twin mirrors. One that shows the owner’s will to show whatever the owner wants and one that shows the truth. MC surmises that the empress’s mirror is the one that shows her will and she manipulates others by using it in this way. The people she shows think they are seeing the truth but it’s really illusions created by her.

• MC and Ramona first plot to steal the mirror from the empress’s palace since they need to verify which twin mirror the empress possesses. However, when second prince is told the plan, he objects. He thinks rather than carrying the mirror from the palace, it’s safer to bring it to his palace.

• MC receives a fake message from second prince only to belatedly realize when she gets to the palace that something seems off, the sender might be fake and this might be a trap. When she tries to turn back, the person escorting her put a knife to her side. She meets the fake sender who is the empress. The empress caught on to MC and the second prince’s suspicions about the mirror. She wants to erase MC’s memory but not kill her. When her people are about to move, she hears her son’s voice through MC’s communication bracelet. Turns out that MC turned it on so he heard everything. The empress is forced to give up her plan since if the second prince doesn’t cooperate, her goal of making him the emperor will fail.

• Ramona successfully steals the mirror using her heavenly weapon that stops time. MC stays at home during the operation to minimize suspicion. Turns out that the mirror is the one that shows the owner’s will. Second prince exposes the empress’s use of the magic mirror. It seems she even used it to manipulate the nobles who supports the second prince. The second prince gives up his succession rights. The empress is banished to her family estate never to participate in society again.

• News of magic explosion in various villages are rampant on the streets. The newspapers attribute it to demons attacking. Now it seems that war will break out as the emperor sends a suppression team. Prior to this, MC’s brother told her that the imperial family has achieve magic detection device so now they can mine more effectively for magic stone. Anyway, after this development, all of a sudden they’re saying demons are attacking villages. MC goes out to see how folks on the street are reacting. She has tea in a certain place and the opposing guild to Kenneth’s business are spreading news that they need to kill demons etc. MC notices that it’s like they’re trying to instigate the crowd.

• MC suddenly realizes a pattern. Anytime these incidents with magic occurs, the imperial family is involved. She didn’t notice it before but suddenly it all comes together. She also recalls that Kenneth once said that some powerful person is behind the rival guild. She now thinks it’s the imperial family.

• MC goes to Blacktown. There she meets Leona first who basically tells her to live a happy life with a nobleman rather than choosing the difficult path of loving Bergard. MC pretends like she doesn’t know what the woman means. MC joins Bergard, Kiel and Leona at the hideout. Bergard confirms to the MC that the current magic situation is not their doing.

• Bergard says at this point, it’s better to tell MC everything. She learns that the magic catalyst is probably the cause of the current erratic magic phenomenon. The magic catalyst is some type of source that creates magic stones. If the catalyst is removed, it creates rampant destruction by mana. The only person who knows this, other than the demons, is the emperor. Basically, MC is now realizing with much incredulity, that the emperor who created the prosperous society is likely a greedy man. Even if he wants to create a stronger empire, removing the catalyst which is now creating havoc is a terrible decision.

• MC doesn’t have to think of marriage with the first prince anymore since second prince gave up his right of succession. MC also realizes that her heart won’t allow her to give up her feelings for Bergard. Still, the first prince thinks she would be good for an empress candidate. MC doesn’t want to pursue that path though and she tells her brother.

The book doesn’t outright say it because it’s mostly told from MC’s perspective but there does seem to be this undercurrent that the emperor is kind of shady. It’s also surprising how weak the demons seem. The imperial family seem to have created technology to vanquish the demons. It’s like in the battle between Bergard and MC’s brother, Bergard’s magic was suppressed.

 

Spoiler: Volumes 4 and 5 spoilers

• Bergard thought that MC would believe the rumors and blame them but when MC showed no doubt in him, he’s relieved. It seems that he now acknowledges to himself that he likes her. He thought he liked her for a while now but the decisive moment came when she saved him in the forest. When he was unilaterally beaten by the holy sword, he had no expectation of surviving after he managed to teleport. However, when he opened his eyes after regaining his consciousness, she was the first person he saw just like when a princess saves a prince from a different world. (Probably like The Little Mermaid)

• MC [foolishly] goes to the palace and confront the emperor about stealing and using the magic catalyst. The magic catalyst is important because it keeps the power of mana stones stable. When it’s removed, mana runs rampant destroying places. The emperor admits to everything including backing the Maron guild. MC asks him how can he use the magic catalyst so recklessly since many people die from the aftermath. The emperor basically dismisses the death of people by saying those are necessary sacrifices to make a stronger empire. MC is appalled by the emperor’s own admission. The man even says that he protected her life because of her father but now things will change. He also tells her that nobody will believe her tale even her own brother.

• MC leaves the emperor’s hall and on her way out of the palace people are shunning her. She finds out that the emperor released information to the nobles that she’s in cahoots with the demons. Even when her brother returns from the magic suppression trip, MC had high hopes that he would believe her but he thinks she’s been brainwashed by the demons.

• MC leaves the duke house after leaving a note saying that they shouldn’t look for her. She intends to go live in the demon world because her reputation is totally ruined. She’s the hot topic of gossip because she’s supposedly a traitor. Bergard let’s MC stay in the home where his mother used to live. He shows MC around the neighborhood and she familiarize herself with the area. She finds a part time job at a dress shop where she sews for the designer. That’s how quietly and peacefully she lives her life.

• On the first day of her job, MC waits at a restaurant after work to meet Bergard and his mother. His mother asks MC if she wants her to adopt her as a daughter in order to raise her status. MC doesn’t like the idea because she still have family in the human world and she doesn’t want to be considered Bergard’s sister. She tells the mother that she’ll slowly think about it. MC asks about the reason why her bracelet won’t communicate with the human world. She wants to contact the second prince. It turns out she needs a lot of mana to do that. Bergard looks unhappy and says he’s going outside to get some fresh air.

• After Bergard doesn’t return for a long time, MC decides to take an umbrella outside to him since it’s raining. She finds him in an empty lot just standing in the rain staring at the sky. MC walks up to him with the umbrella. She asks what is he doing. He says he has a lot on his mind. He doesn’t want her to be his sister. MC tells him that she refused the offer and she won’t accept it in the future. He tells her that he doesn’t want her to be proposed to by the prince. MC wonders if he’s jealous. He cups her cheek with his wet hand. MC tells him that she’ll misunderstand that he likes her if he does that. Bergard confesses that he likes her. MC is shocked. It’s like the whole world grows quiet except for the sound of her beating heart and the rain. Bergard stares at her and MC starts to feel hot. She answers Bergard’s confession and admits that she likes him too. Bergard’s face slowly approaches and the two share their first kiss. Next day, MC had a fever and is sent home immediately from work. Later Bergard comes by to nurse her.

• The emperor and his magic stone researcher decides it’s time to experiment with the magic stone. The researcher said that they can’t use the magic catalyst for now because it’s power is too latent. However, they can experiment with absorption of the mana stone. For money, Milia, one of the guild members, comes to be the test subject. Needless to say the experiment went awry as the mana stone absorbed into Milia’s body turns her into a monster. Milia is knocked out by sleeping gas. She’s taken to a remote area and goes wild destroying everything. The researcher stays a distance away to make notes on the monster he created. Unfortunately for him, even he is eventually killed by monster Milia.

• MC’s brother tries to find MC. They even searched Black Town. In a meeting with the first prince, second prince, Ramona and him, he expresses his concern. Second prince argues that if MC says don’t look for her, she means it and she’s probably fine. The brother still thinks that MC is brainwashed. Second prince adamantly refutes this. The MC he knows who endured so much alone is not the type of person to be used by the demons. Furthermore, he believes MC. There must be something wrong. Ramona supports the second prince’s conclusion about MC. She also believes MC wouldn’t act this way through someone else’s manipulation. That, of course, means that there’s something secret going on with the emperor.

• MC’s brother and Ramona are sent to kill the monster. They of course don’t know that it’s a human that was experimented on. However, they sense something a little strange. Anyway, Milia’s partner threw a smoke bomb and switched places with Milia. Consequently, the friend ends up dying beneath the holy sword while Milia escapes.

• Monster Milia is captured and brought to the demon realm. MC and another human who lives in the demon world goes to prison to visit the monster. MC realizes right away that the monster is Milia. She’s upset that the emperor has experimented on Milia. She asks the human friend and Bergard, who joins them a bit later, if Milia can be saved. Bergard says perhaps if they find the Wise Man from Arcentia. MC wants to keep Milia alive as proof of the emperor’s dirty deeds.

• MC, escorted by Kiel, goes to the human world to ask Kenneth’s help in finding the wise man. When they meet in his office, MC apprise Kenneth of her experience. He finds it difficult to believe that the emperor would do all that MC said. MC clarifies that the emperor is not doing it for personal greed but because he wants to make their empire stronger. It’s only then that Kenneth believes her allegations. However, when MC mentions what the emperor did to Milia, the Count believes that part with certainty. That’s because Milia’s partner was found dead after MC’s brother struck him with a sword. In other words, in the smoke, the brother killed a human instead of a monster. Hearing MC’s account, the count now sees the full picture. MC leaves after her business is finished with Kenneth. Left in the office alone, Kenneth gets to work on tracking down possibilities for finding the Wise Man and he thinks about how happy and peaceful MC’s face looked.

• MC and Bergard takes a boat ride on the Stynx river and ends up branching off to a lake. Both bodies of water have mermaids in them. They make a sound like dolphins but Bergard understands them. They want the couple to kiss for them but of course the couple is embarrassed. The mermaids therefore tilt their boat and the couple falls into the water. When they get on shore to dry their clothes, one of the mermaids comes to apologize. As a peace offering, It gives MC a mermaid tear so that she can use to breathe under water. Bergard takes MC to a jewelry store to get the mermaid tear mounted on a chain so that she can wear it. The tear itself looks like a jewel.

• MC leaves the demon realm to go pursue wise man to get the medicine for Milia to be returned to normal. Bergard gives her a gift to give to the wise man because everything has its price. While the man might not want money, Bergard thinks he will like a magic tool that changes the color of water. Kenneth joins MC on the trip since he met wise men about eight years before. They also use his trading business as a disguise for the goal of their trip.

• On the trip, the group spends some time at the academy where MC’s brother attended school. There they coincidentally meet the ancient language professor whom MC knows from the description provided by her brother and friends who talked about the professor a lot. The professor also recognizes that MC looks like her brother with black hair and pink eyes. MC is able to get documented proof from the professor that magic crystals exist and magic stones are the by product. As soon as MC leaves with a copy of the professor’s report on magic catalysts, the professor is held up by a masked person who demands that the professor give him the ancient book and her research data. The professor values her life so she gives them all up. The ancient book was found by Ramona, the first prince and MC’s brother.

• Meanwhile, without any knowledge of this, MC and Kenneth leaves for the mountains where wise man is staying. Fortunately the information on his location was correct and wise man is able to make the medicine for Milia. He’s the one who originally had the ancient book and he’s also 199 years old.

• MC and Kenneth return from the mountain to find out that the emperor in their country launched a large military force to fight the demons. The military force is headed by MC’s brother. What MC doesn’t know is that the emperor blackmailed her brother into heading the military force by framing Ramona with trumped up charges. He put Ramona in jail by accusing her of instigating the second prince. That was possible because Ramona and second prince met at his palace and were thinking of using her time stopping tool to steal the letter that proves that the demons warned the emperor against taking away the magic catalysts. Although they discussed this in second prince’s sound proof room, the emperor used one of his knights to pretend that he heard them conspiring.

• MC goes to see her brother for the first time after walking away from home. She’s really there to stop him from going to unjustly fight the demons and cause casualties on both sides. Kenneth is with her to demonstrate that he believes her. MC shows her brother the report from the professor. He knows they gave the ancient book to the professor and the professor has been studying the book. The report serves as proof of the magic catalyst that MC told him about before when he didn’t believe her. Moreover, MC tells him that wise man made the medicine for the monster he tried to kill in the mountains.

• The brother asks MC to forgive him. MC tries to act tough but then tells him she forgives him for not believing her. She leaves the camp and her brother realizes that there’s a distance in their relationship. He reflects on how he didn’t believe her and she still ran ahead and worked to resolve the problems. He thought of her as naive of the world but it was he who didn’t know that the emperor was doing these things. Now he can’t even stop his sister since unlike him, she’s trying to stop a needless war. The brother calls in his platoon captain to force him to alter his report to the emperor. He tells the one to write that he and his sister fought and then she left.

• MC contacts second prince and the first prince is there. She informs them of everything she found out about what the emperor is doing. The second prince, of course, readily believes that she wouldn’t make such accusations if they weren’t true. She tells them that she will meet them soon. Second prince says it’s also time to think about the succession to put his brother on the throne.

• The medicine restores Milia to human form but now she’s paralyzed. MC asks her if she wants revenge on the emperor for making her like this and for her friend’s death. Milia thinks it’s a pipe dream. How could she get near the emperor? MC asks about any documents that prove their guild’s relationship with the emperor. Milia tells them about a safe house on an isolated island. She’s never been there but her dead partner told her about it.

• Bergard takes a team to the island after his scouts report back on the logistics, manpower etc. MC insists on going since she has the mermaid’s tear that allows her to breathe under water. Bergard reluctantly allows her to go with them. They’re able to retrieve the documents in the safe after much hassle. Fortunately the documents are protected by preservation magic so water won’t damage them. The group had to subdue the guards and escape a water trap that was triggered by the safe.

• Rather that immediately returning to the boat after they obtained the documents, some person of the group suggested the foolish idea of washing off the seawater before they leave the mansion they just broke into to head for the boat. (The seawater was from the trap.) By sticking around, the imperial guards show up at the mansion just when MC and another female were going to wash in an outdoor pool designated for women. The owner of the mansion had sent a signal about the group’s intrusion and the emperor sent out the soldiers.

• MC, who can’t fight, is forced to hide behind a rock near a cliff. Two soldiers find her and realize she’s the duke’s sister. They warn her to come along calmly. MC picks up a rock and jumps over the cliff into the seawater. The rocks sinks her into deep water so that the soldiers would think she’s dead when she doesn’t resurface. A seawater mermaid greets her and tells her that the mermaid tear does more than allow her to breathe under water. It protects her against sharks and other sea predators.

• Soon MC sees Bergard swimming towards her from a distance. The mermaid bids her goodbye and swims deeper into the sea. On shore, MC asks Bergard what happened. That’s when she learns that a signal was sent from the mansion. She also learns that he took longer to find her because the soldiers had new magic weapons. He says the boat will circle back back and pick them up. MC is cold and Bergard’s body temperature doesn’t help her because it’s normally low. All he can do is shield her from the wind. Fortunately the boat arrives soon and they’re able to board it so MC can change from her wet clothes.

• The emperor hears about MC’s action of jumping to her death with the documents. He sends divers to retrieve the documents. He also sends a letter to MC’s brother claiming that she died and the demons are responsible. The emperor’s main purpose in sending the soldiers to the island was to try out the new magic weapons on the demons. He didn’t realize at first that the guild kept secret documents to safeguard against him.

• MC, Bergard, Ramona, and the princes meet at a restaurant. MC shows them the documents with the emperor’s seal. She also shows them the professor’s study and tells them about Milia. They devise a plan to confront the emperor and ask him to step down. They will also invite the nobles to expose everything. Only problem is that the nobles will be very upset about the imperial family’s transgressions. First prince says it’s a burden he will have to bear.

• The day of reckoning comes and the above group goes to confront the emperor. When he sees MC alive he’s a little surprised. In a nutshell, he even admits to hiring someone to steal the ancient book from the professor. His sons tell him to admit his faults and abdicate the throne. He agrees too easily to stepping down but the others are forced to leave to go to the room where the nobles are waiting while the two princes will come behind with the emperor.

• MC, Milia, Ramona and Bergard go to the room with the nobles. People are shocked to see MC after she left home to live elsewhere. Time passes and the team realizes that something must be wrong. Bergard leaves first and Ramona and MC follows. They find the two princess deeply asleep in their father’s room. He used some kind of drugs on the princes.

• Bergard pursues after the emperor and his knights. He confronts them after he stops them somewhere outside the city. The knights fight against Bergard and when the emperor tries to escape during the commotion, MC’s brother appears. The knights think that he will support them but he takes charge of bringing back the emperor to face his crimes. It’s the first time that the brother has faced Bergard since almost killing him so he apologizes to him after learning how much he has helped his sister.

• The emperor is dethroned. The public is outraged to hear that he was behind all the magic “run wild” deaths and casualties. The victim families even stage a sit in front of the palace gates. The first prince has a lot to do to atone for his father’s crimes but the second prince, Ramona, and the duke assist him.

• MC returns home. Rudolph is happy to be reunited with his sister. For her part in exposing everything, the newspapers give her a lot of credit so her reputation improves. She begins to receive invitations again but she refuse them all. The first prince and Bergard also work together for the peace between the two races. Anti-discrimination laws are enacted in the human world and demon world to promote the relationship between humans and demons, respectively. Blacktown is also revitalize into a place with homes, shops, restaurants, etc. The count even opens businesses there and gives advice on the town’s development.

• Bergard proposes to MC in a field of roses in the demon world. MC readily accepts his proposal. She wonders how come the king gave his approval. She wants to know so the couple visits the king. He tells them it’s because of her accomplishments in reconciling the human and demon worlds and their marriage will also be a good symbol to further strengthen that reconciliation.

• MC and Bergard’s family meet for a meal including little Rudolph. They discuss the marriage plans and decide that the couple will marry in the imperial palace of the human world, have a brief reception then participate in a parade in the demon world followed by a ball.

• MC wants to meet Cecilia, Bergard’s sister. Bergard is at first hesitant but he takes her to the room. The sister is looking out the window as though she can’t hear them. However, as soon as MC introduces herself as Bergard’s fiancée, the sister looks back and realizes she’s human. This stirs the sister and she starts to ask why Ber can marry a human but she couldn’t marry her lover. Her magic goes wild and Bergard protects MC. He then rings the bell for the maids and sedate his sister. MC apologizes to Bergard after she thinks about it. She was so eager to meet the sister without thinking how her race would affect the sister who was denied her human lover in an accident.

• Finally, MC and Bergard marries. Many people attend their wedding including wise man who traveled from the mountains to attend. He says that it’s the first time in his two centuries that he has ever witnessed the marriage between a human and a demon. Many people celebrated the wedding day in both worlds and the heavenly realm didn’t interfere.

Spoiler: Spoilers from side stories

• Children: MC finds out she’s pregnant while the couple is traveling to various countries on vacation. MC takes Bergard to the country where she lived in her past life. It’s the same country where Ramona grew up. Coincidentally, they run into her brother and Ramona there. The couples spend an afternoon together before separating.

• Next, the couple travels to a sea resort. Once they get there, Bergard couldn’t eat anything except strawberry cake or other cakes. The scent of the food makes him sick. Different smells, even in the gym, makes him sick. After a few days like this, MC tells him that they need to call a doctor. That’s when the doctor’s assistant asks MC when last she saw her period. MC wants to know what does that have to do with Bergard feeling sick. The assistant says sometimes men experience the morning sickness of their pregnant wives. Bergard acknowledges that his father was sick throughout his mother’s pregnancy with him. MC therefore lets them test her and she’s indeed pregnant.

• The couple immediately returns home and announces the news to the monarch couple who get very excited over the news. The father sympathizes with Bergard when remembering that all he could do is drink wine throughout his wife’s pregnancy. Months later, Bergard still cannot eat properly but does improve a little. MC feels sorry for him because he’s become very thin while she’s perfectly healthy and alright. The doctor says it’s because demons are more sensitive.

• Years later, it’s shown that MC had twins, Altair and Vega. Altair is a boy who looks like MC. He’s normal. Vega is a girl who looks like Bergard and she’s strong. The twins get along well together. According to Altair’s dairy, he thinks Vega is most suitable for the crown and he wants to support her from behind. He doesn’t have any desire to rule over people and he considers his sister physically stronger. He’s also just a normal person in terms of strength and swordsmanship.

• Once at his cousin Jenny’s birthday party, her friends finds Vega a little scary. Remember Vega looks more like Bergard and Altair looks very much like his mother with black hair and pink eyes. Altair thinks to himself that he doesn’t get why they’re afraid of his sister because his sister is much nicer than him who can be scary. Anyway, it doesn’t take long for Ramona and Vega to disappear. Next time Altair sees them, the two are in the gardens fighting with their swords even in their dresses. Altair soon get tired of Jenny’s friends and goes upstairs to find his mother in her old room. The room is preserved just like it was when his mom was growing up. Altair thinks he’s seen a side of his mother that he’s never seen before. His mother tells him about how she met her dad in that house.

• Bergard’s sister, Cecilia: She develops amnesia after an incident that Leona instigated because of her jealousy towards Bergard and MC especially after the two are engaged. Cecilia comes back to her senses but as a ten year old. She gradually regains her memory after several years and recalls her dead lover. She goes to Blacktown, which is now a revived district with homes, restaurants and shops. There she meets with the brother of her dead lover. The two talk about their loved one. She decides to start working part time at the cafe that the brother owns. She goes there twice a week.

• The sister is pretty much normal now and she takes good care of her niece and nephew. They’re basically a close family. The grandparents already retired so Bergard and MC are the monarchs. The grandparents probably live elsewhere because the twins write to them. The grandfather and Bergard usually talk about which twin should inherit the throne but Altair thinks it should be Vega. He can aid her because she can get a little careless at times.

I’m interested to see how different the manhwa adaptation will be.

I was under impression that ML’s sister has died, but maybe that was a wrong translation or just what the manhwa implied to give a surprise reveal later. Which in my opinion is not a very nice move because it adds more drama to the ML’s life in the beginning but then takes it back. His life was tragic enough even with just him feeling guilty for his sister’s unhappiness and further mental health problems, there was no point in adding a more tragic detail for pitying and then erasing it when it’s not needed.
Also right now in the manhwa the 1st prince behaves like a complete sociopath but in the novel he looks capable of making emotional decisions and behaves mostly like a nice person, so I hope the manhwa will show his personal growth and forgiveness instead of making him a bad guy who’s being supported by many people just because he’s the first born prince.

 

Yes, first prince is a good guy. There’s not much negative about him in the novel except that he’s blunt.

The friendship between MC and second prince is also comfortable to the point that they share beauty tips. lol I would say he’s her best friend even though she is part of his sister’s clique.

Regarding Bergard’s sister, he did tell MC that his sister’s body is not in the grave. That gave the impression that she might be alive. She’s been living locked up in her room all these years. She doesn’t respond to people mostly because she chooses to lock up her mind. However, after a magic accident, she went into a coma like state and then slowly woke up with a ten year old mentality. Then as years pass, she slowly regains her memory. I suppose for her family, they didn’t think she would recover so they were hopeless. When MC asked Bergard to introduce her to the sister, he was quite reluctant. MC insists that no matter what, the sister is still part of the family.

In the last translated chapter he called mc a pest in a way like he wanna get rid of her!
Is it possible that the story will move away from the novel?! the first prince acts totall Like a villain!!!!

 

Actually, there's a possibility because like the prev post, there's a minor change from the novel in the manhwa, but maybe the story didn't change that much like who made me a princess. But.. at the very least.. I would like to mess the relationship between Adrianna and Theodore. I don't know why but I don't like Theodore that much, but not to the point of hating him (cause there's so much trash character worth my hate more than him).

That he was very sorry when he found out how his sister suffered when he's left her alone and that he promised himself to take a good care for her from now on. And that now he's left her alone there and left.

• Back at home brother tells MC it's a brooch that is supposed to save the owner if they are in danger
• Brother apologizes, MC says it's ok though she thinks that she actually was disappointed
• Brother says Lamona was angry at him and today he realized how the 1st prince was not loving her and only trying to use her for manipulation, to keep her hostage against his friend
• MC said that she doesn't want their friendship to be ruined because of her, but brother says that an Emperor can't have friends and that a time will come when he will become a ruler and will need only loyalty, not friendship.
• MC says that it's his responsibility to give the 1st prince whatever type of friendship or loyalty he wants.
• Brother's flashback to their academy days when the 1st prince has received a letter from his father demanding his return back home. They all have decided to go back together.
• Cut to the 1st prince who's checking MC's profile and notices that she's been kidnapped by demons before. He smirks thinking about how to use this information to oppress the brother.
• MC is walking on the hill where Demon CP sister's grave is located. She is thinking to herself that her survival has screwed up the plot and now her brother and the 1st prince are not friends anymore. And that maybe it'll be better if she disappears.
• At that moment the Demon CP appears
• They both are happy to meet each other and both blush thinking about this
• They don't talk much, MC is just venting how she wants to help her brother but can't do anything and he's going to solve everything alone. She notices how calm and nice she feels even just sitting near the Demon CP.
• She thanks him for the brooch and he says it'll save her once and will turn to ashes. She's saying that she won't be wearing it then, but the Demon CP asks her to wear it because that's the point of his gift.
• Then there's a big part of a chapter where 3 friends and MC are discussing an upcoming knight tournament and that Lamona can't participate because she's a commoner. MC asks isn't it possible to change rules so that commoners could also participate, to which the 1st prince is trying to flirt saying if it's her wish it can be done. Both MC and her brother are irked by this.
• During the tournament Lamona, brother and incognito Mr.Black are proceeding to the finals.
• Brother hurts Mr.Black with his holy sword and the guy surrenders. MC realizes he's the Demon CP.
• She runs out to help him and finds him with a small wound that is brining too much damage because of the holy powers.
• MC helps him in some isolated room while waiting for his personal doctor
• They talk why the Demon CP decided to participate and he said he wanted to know what it feels to be hurt by the holy sword.
• He's happy to hear that MC is worried about him and is holding her hand which makes her very shy.
• She changes the topic and asks is he getting ready to a war and this is why he wanted to feel the power of the holy sword
• He says he doesn't want to start the war because both parties will have sufficient damage
• MC is thinking about the original novel where the war was destructive and the Demon CP was killed
• The doctor comes and takes the Demon CP away. He says that he's here not only to check the power of the holy sword but for something else too, looks at MC and blushes
• He says it's sad he couldn't give her a winner's crown, but he'll send her one made of demon's stones. She's laughing saying she'll wait.
• Lamona wins the tournament, she's happy and brother is blushing saying he couldn't win because it was her. She's blushing too.
• During the ceremony Lamona gives her crown to MC.
• Brother gives his crown to the 1st prince making it look like a knight's oath
• The 1st prince looks smug and happy
• Fast forward to a few days later. MC hears the news that the war with demons has started.
• Brother says there's nothing to worry, it's a local war for now and demons have started it. MC doesn't believe it. Brother says they are insidious and sly and were always waiting for a chance to enslave humans.
• MC says it doesn't make sense because humans have the holy sword.
• Brother says he'll go there and kill the Demon CP, without him demons can't do anything.
• MC starts crying realizing she couldn't change the story and the Demon CP will die all alone like in the original
• Demon's POV: the Demon CP gets news that humans have suddenly attacked them and keep coming through teleports.
• The Demon CP decides to go there to distract them, because he's the only one having the power to survive the holy sword to give a chance for other demons to run away.
• Brother comes to the battlefield and discusses with Lamona how demons didn't look prepared to the war at all. Lamona mentions that the Demon CP is there giving his army a chance to run away.
• Brother is surprised that he has such determination and devotion to his people.
• Cut to the Demon CP, his friend is asking him to run but he says he can't do this because he's responsible for his people.
• At that time brother comes there and requests a one on one fight
• During the fight brother recognizes him as Mr.Black during the tournament
• Demon CP loses, but brother doesn't kill him. He's asking angrily what's his relationship with MC.
• Cut to MC. She hasn't received any news from her brother yet.
• The brooch falls onto the floor and is broken. MC starts panicking.

 

Yeah it would be nice if she hated him a little and he needed to appeal to her but she just forgave him or something similar, that part was a little boring when you compare to some novels/manhwas . And considering all the trouble MC had been through and what she did for him he still didn't believe MC but his lover and second prince believed her even though MC brother did not when the opposite should have been when you think about his "trust in his sister", and only then he believed in MC, but at least he realised that there's some distance between them.


And from the manhwa at the start of season 2 is it just me that I thought that the prince would become a villan with the emperor and try to kill MC, he even considered her a pest. With all the information from the manhwa he can be considered as cold-hearted and cruel person who has 0 trust in anyone basically but he is cunning basically villain persona.

And I feel quite sorry for ML sister after considering what she went through and now her brother is marrying human even though he lead to her lover's dead.

Hmmm. From what I read, the sister’s lover died when they were pursued and they fell over a cliff. It’s technically an accident. Most of all, it’s the father, the king of the demon world, who could not accept her lover. That’s why it was a big deal for MC/ML to be accepted by the father. The father only allowed them because he regretted what happened with his daughter. ML also felt guilty because they were pursuing the sister and lover and the end result was the lover fell and died.

However, there is also the fact that the demons were always “generally” vilified by the humans so I can’t really blame the demons for not wanting to associate with humans. In fact, the main villain is human. ML was also almost killed by MC’s brother because his holy sword is that detrimental to ML. If MC hadn’t saved him, he really could have died.

 

1. ML didn't support his sister who from her point of view was the only one she thought would support her. If he had supported her then atleast worst case scenario would have been avoided and in the end they could have been together but he only started to support her when persuade force was sent and when he finaly reached them it was too late.

2. True and MC brother was quite easy to manipulate from the story

 

Considering the enmity between demons and humans, I can understand why he wouldn’t necessarily support his sister at first. While reading the book, I felt that the demons were portrayed surprisingly weaker than the humans at least when it came to how the human imperial family took advantage of them, vilified their reputation and made them scorned by humans. That in turn made the demons defensive especially since the emperor of the human world was the real villain and the demons knew it. It’s just sad that the sister’s tragedy happened. I think the only reason MC was able to marry ML so easily is because her brother had already betrayed her trust so much that there was no way he could object. He had too many strikes against him.

 

True. And honestly you can't blame the humans for being wary of demons and vise versa. I agree with all the hate for fl brother when it comes to fl and the things she has endured, but not when it comes to the actual war as it started. Her brother is now the duke and an important military figure. He has to think of not just fl but also the safety of the people of the empire. He has no other choice but to defend his people. I mean, it is a war.

 

Indeed the brother should be patriotic. I don’t think MC’s grievance against him has anything to do with his patriotism. She didn’t even blame him for injuring and almost killing ML. MC’s issue with her brother is more to do with him not personally believing in her.
