A side character that barely gets as much screentime seems to be developed so well. I respect Princess Changle man, she is a well-thought out character that you can't help but feel sorry for. Sigh. On another note, Jing Chi is cute.

Changle is a sad character. Because of her birth, she is required to fulfill her duties as per noblesse oblige. And now, she can't be with the man she loves because she doesn't want to harm his future and his life. Characters like Jing Chi are actually quite common in Chinese history and literature. Jing Chi, of course, is based on the historical figure of Yuchi Jingde (尉迟敬德), a general who served Li Shimin, the Taizong Emperor of Tang. Eventually. There's too many obstacles, at present, and Jiang Zhe has yet to show everyone (re: emperor and Noble Consort Zhangsun) how capable he is.

There's only six volumes total. Prologue, Volume 1 - 30 chapters, Volume 2 - 30 chapters, Volume 3 - 42 chapters, Volume 4 - 30 chapters, Volume 5 - 41 chapters, Volume 6 - 49 chapters, Epilogue. Although that doesn't add up to 228. Qidian must also be counting random BS posts.

You know, I actually kind of like that Fan Huiyao lost her way. Not because I'm a sick twisted person but because it makes her much more human. We all screw up sometimes anyways! It makes her a much more believable character and in one sense, a better antagonist! She's not evil because she literally is, but she too has her own beliefs shaped by her own life experiences which may or may not have twisted her originally pure intentions! Anw, I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll go read the recent chapter now!
Seems like Xia Jinyi has some sort of past association with Li Hanyou... I get the feeling that she's the "Liang Wan" of the past two volumes (a character that most readers can easily direct their hate towards) oh man I wonder how Xia Jinyi is gonna get out of this one...
