    Prologue
"Have you heard? The Qin Clan finally captured that demon, Qin Zuijia!"

"Pei! What captured? He presented himself to them!"

"I heard he's gone bonkers that he doesn't even know what he's doing?!"

"Even so he's already in proper custody."

The chattering inside the restaurant continued, as several black cloaked men entered. The scent of beer and wine interlocking together as the talk become livelier.

The shortest of the cloaked men took a glance at the people who were talking about the man named Qin Zuijia. An unreadable expression was plastered on his face. His expression only relaxed when the owner showed them to their table.

"I heard they're going to kill that devil in front of the people. I can't wait to watch!"

"What are you excited for?" a woman about eighty years old smacked the man in the head. She sighed and continued, "Don't you remember how he used to be such an amazing mage at such a young age. Even those sword cultivators can't beat him in combat."

"What are you sighing about, Woman!" He exclaimed. "He's already killed thousands of practitioners from different clans and academies. Even I know that he's irredeemable."

"I was just grieving for losing such an amazing child. If he hadn't practiced the unorthodox path then maybe we'd have such mage in our city."

"The Heavenly City has lots of great mages out there. Maybe one day a rising star might come and show the whole continent their prowess."

    "Idiot!"

    "Hag!"

As the man and the woman fought, the men in black cloak started chattering to themselves. But because of a barrier, their voices seemed non-existent. The short one suddenly stood up and went outside. The rest of the men followed, except for that last man still sipping his cup of tea. His eyes were deep red as though blood had seeped in.

"I wonder what the head would say about this?" He grinned and proceeded to follow the others after emptying the cup.

The moment he stepped out of the restaurant, sounds of screaming broke out. And the man and the woman clutched their necks and killed themselves on the spot.

And in the next day, The news about mass suicide rang all throughout the Heavenly City.

    Chapter 1: The Villain
The Heavenly City is situated at the south and is currently at the hand of the Qin Clan. The City is the largest city in the Southern continent and is considered the most prominent one in the whole Wolf's bane continent. The power of the City is on par with the Central Capital of the continent, but because the Qin Clan are all humble people, they never fight for power.

The Qin Clan has been around since the Ancient Heavenly battle, where the head of the clan fought against the heavenly emperor and claimed the freedom of the whole continent. Some say that the man in the stories became God for the sake of the continent, and others say he sacrificed himself to the heavenly emperor to free the people. But all of this was mere speculation, the only truth was that he was gone when the battle ended, and not a single part of him was found, as though he never existed.

The Qin clan's direct descendents ruled over the heavenly city when their head was gone. The head never had any children, nor was he married, so the title of the new head was bestowed upon his older brother. Yes, older brother. The former head was the youngest of the two brothers. Because he had shown the clan his great attributes, he became the head at the young age of Twenty, but he only lasted as the head for two years, before the heavens struck his crown and made him fall from grace.

The Qin Clan continued to prosper for hundreds of thousands of years, producing amazing mages and sword cultivators who protect and defend the clan. Then on their seven hundredth family descendant did the family fall. The man named Qin Zuijia was born.

In only a day the main family died, and only a few from the branch family were left. Now the current head was no longer from the main family, but from the branch family who fought restlessly until the demon left on his own accord.

This was the story eighty years ago. Now the Qin family has Qin Zuijia locked up in a dungeon filled with barriers, chains, and spells. If even the man tries to escape, he would face a painful punishment. A cut that will never heal, would be infested with worms and bugs, would smell like rotten flesh, and will make you wish for death.

    -------

The sounds of footsteps resound all throughout the dungeon. The pitter-patter of the water interlocking with the aura around the man made the whole place freeze up. His arms were folded to his back, making his shoulders look sharp and elegant. His neck exposed, and his Adam's apple showed pure masculinity. His jawline is sharp and strong. His lips were thin, peachy and no trace of a smile can be detected. But his eyes. His deep dark eyes seem to carry with him a cold dark void. His gaze alone could cut through ice, his brows often knitted, but no trace of arrogance in his demeanor. The eyes he had were void of fear. One look and everything around him seems to freeze.

He wore White and blue clothes with silver cloud patterns adorned on his sky blue robe. And often you'd think of him as a deity.

He walked past the first cell, passed the second, and the third to the last cell. One can faintly hear the gasping from the inside, as though someone was on the verge of dying.

The cell was covered with spells and barriers, and the men inside were donned with shackles. The men inside were soaked with water, dripping from the top. The smell of blood seeped through the bars, as the blood itself flowed from his forehead.

His eyes were unfocused, hair disheveled, clothes a mess, and by the looks of it, he was dying. But with closer inspection, one would see that his soul was still full of life. Only the barriers force him into submission.

The man in white caressed the iron bars separating himself and the man inside. His temperament was calm, but his eyes said otherwise.

Everyone knew of this person's disgust towards the other, and only god knew what he wanted to do with him. He's a gentleman, but facing the Villain that destroyed the name of his family, his eyes were filled with killing intent.

"Does this infamous villain plead guilty?" The man in white said coldly.

The one inside the cell had his head lowered, but replied still. "This poor mage is guilty."

The man in white slammed his hands on the iron bars. "What crime are you guilty for?" His voice hoarse and his words shake as if at any moment he's going to snap.

The guards at the side took notice of the man's shaking hands. They unconsciously step back in fear that they would be harmed by him.

The man inside the cell noticed the retreating figures of the guards and guessed that this person might have a strong background. Probably the new Clan head or the young master. Even so, he dare not linger in that thought. He was awaiting death, finding out the other person's identity is none of his concern. He lifted his head to meet the man's murderous eyes.

"I failed as a practitioner under the Qin Clan." He said. When those words came out of his mouth, he couldn't help but feel lost. Never in his life did he thought of killing those people. He has always been upright. He was cold on the outside, but secretly he was kind. Nevertheless, he still needs to be punished. His eyes started to mist and tears were forming on each side.

The man in white looked at the other's eyes. Each moment he recorded in his mind, trying to decipher what kind of lunatic he really is. But the eyes he was looking at were unfocused, filled with sorrow, guilt, fear and lingering depression. His gaze softened. He bit his lip with dissatisfaction. The man in front didn't seem to be the same heartless man that killed those thousands of practitioners.

"Do you-" The man in white stammered, looking at the man in front of him gave him a different feeling. It wasn't anger. He felt familiarity with the man, as if he met this person before.

He repressed the emerging thought inside his head and felt that it was just misunderstanding. How could this evil being compare with a legendary figure. It might just be because they are from the same family and have the same blood. When this thought came to mind, he let out a hot breath.

"What is your name?" The man inside the cell asked. He doesn't matter whether he knew the other or not, but the man's whole temperament seemed to resonate with him. He became fond of his sudden change of emotion. To the untrained eye, no one would see the changes, since the young man never showed any expression, but to him, his gaze was enough to understand. He hasn't met such an interesting fellow before, and he felt regretful that this is the last time he'd meet him. He sighed inwardly and smiled at the man opposite to him.

When the other saw his smile, it was as if he was pricked with thorns all over his body. He can't help but turn away. Was he scared? He can't be! But why did he feel different?

While he pondered over it, the man in the cell also took notice. Was he shy? He chuckled softly which made the man in white glance back at him.

The man inside the cell stopped laughing and stared at the other and smiled. "May I know this young master's name?" He didn't care whether he'd died this moment, but he must know who this person is. He was desperate to know who he is, and his excitement was shown with his shimmering eyes.

The man in white felt as if his body was burning. He bit his lip and said softly. "Wei-Wei. Xiao." The last part was said so quietly that no one heard it. The man immediately regretted talking and ran outside.

The man inside the cell smiled. In his mind, if that person was the one who would kill him, he wouldn't retaliate, he would gladly accept fate. With that in mind his smile froze, he no longer felt happy, his heart full of regret. He slumped into the ground and coughed repeatedly.

Chapter 2: The Plum Blossom Springs
Wei Xiao runs until he passes the jade dragon statues that are erected by the bridge. He looked left and right and sigh. The feeling of familiarity he felt with Qin Zuijia was something he can explain but refuses to admit.

The sun sets as two figures walk towards him, passing through the bridge. The woman smiled at him. "Greetings young master Wei."

She had her hair tied in a high ponytail. Wearing a white cheongsam that signifies her position in the clan. She had a thin and delicate body - her waist was thin as though it would snap with a single touch, Her chest was full yet was covered with a red shoal. Although she is already past the age of one hundred, she still looks as if she was in her thirties.

This woman is Wei Xiao's aunt. To be exact, this woman is his sister-in-law's mother. Her relationship with Wei Xiao may not be cold, but it wasn't as if they were able to discuss the private stuff either. To Wei Xiao, she is simply a familiar yet unfamiliar figure.

The woman is called Li Xinfang. She is the eldest daughter of the Li clan and is the wife of Ran Xuan who is the current clan leader of the Ran Clan. Her appearance today is simply because of Qin Zuijia.

"Madame Li." Wei Xiao cupped his hand in greeting. Although he refuses to befriend hypocritical people, this doesn't mean he wants to get on their bad side. People like Li Xinfang would smile in front of you, but would stab you once you turn around. But for the sake of giving face, he won't slap the woman in the face. He would respect this elder, but that's as far as he'll go.

"Young master Wei seems to be running away from something. May I inquire what it is?" She flipped open her fan.

The thought of Qin Zuijia came to his mind, but because such thoughts are outrageous, he ignored it. "I Just left the dungeon after a confrontation with Qin Zuijia." He said, his voice calm. But as the name passed his lips, he couldn't help but furrow his brow.

"Aye! Seems like Young master Wei experienced the shamelessness of that beast." She comforted, but her eyes showed a slight delight. "I say. The Ran clan should have been the one to settle scores with Qin Zuijia to leave some face for the Qin Clan." She said, probing the young man .

Wei Xiao isn't stupid. He knew that this woman came to the Qin Manor in hopes that the clan would hand over Qin Zuijia and allow them to extort the man's soul. With Qin Zuijia's level of cultivation, practitioners from different parts of the continent want to either dual-cultivate with him or eat him to extract the essence of his soul - this would allow them to increase in levels very quickly.

But Wei Xiao isn't one of those people. Though he knew the advantage of having the man to himself, he never thought of doing such a thing to him. He wanted the other to be punished and would only wish for death.

Li Xinfang saw his dark gaze and smiled. "Seems like the young master has plans for the villain. But let me warn you. Qin Zuijia isn't like anyone you've ever met." She paused as she walked towards him to whisper in his ears. "Well, you haven't met a lot of people so..."

Her words were very powerful against Wei Xiao. Ever since his parents died, Wei Xiao has locked himself to cultivate, never going out to meet and talk to people. The friends he used to have left, and those that stayed no longer chat with him, just simply nodding and hurrying away. This made him no longer trust people. If the people he used to call friends changed just because you became stronger than them, then they aren't your friends. The only people he trusts are his uncle, his brother and brother's wife.

Wei Xiao trembles in anger. He wanted to peel that woman's skin off. Though he doesn't possess any other hatred towards her, those words really made him enrage.

To quench his anger, he ran outside of the mansion and went to the famous cold spring in Heavenly City.
For unknown reasons, the cold spring was deserted. It wasn't closed, but people seem to be going somewhere else.

Wei Xiao ignored those thoughts and went inside. A man about fifty years old welcomed him in. Cold sweat forming on his forehead, his voice a bit shaky. "Young Master Wei, there's someone looking for you in here?"

"Here?" He furrowed his brows at the other person. "If he wanted to meet me why not go directly to the clan?"

"Ah..eh.." He stammers before forming the right words. "Madam Li seems to be in the mansion right now."

And with that Wei Xiao found out who this person is. In all of Wolf-bane Continent, there is only one person who would come to his favourite cold spring to meet him just to get away from madam Li...Ran Shixuan.
Yes, Ran Shixuan. The eldest son of madam Li and clan leader Ran. The man had been in hiding from his parents for six months for the sole purpose of getting out of the arranged marriage.

He has told his parents a hundred times that he would rather die than be wed with a woman that he doesn't love. His hardheadedness made his elders want to sever his limbs and be locked away.

Wei Xiao pinched the bridge of his nose, contemplating. The man in question saw his 'in pain' expression and called out to him.

"Brother Wei!" He smacked the other's broad shoulders. "I can finally talk to you!" His face was flushed and his voice brittle and nasal. He smells heavily of liquor and looks horrible. He held a beer bottle on his right hand, and he smiled like he had seen his savior.

"What do you want?" His very existence made Wei Xiao's head spin. With him here, he won't be able to do much work.

"I came to you to ask about someone!" He beamed at the other. Though Ran Shixuan was obviously drunk, he still has some resolve left.

    "What is it?"

"Help me find a Mo Lanyu!"

    "Mo..Mo Lanyu?"

    "Yup!"

Wei Xiao looked at him in astonishment."Why?"

"I fell in love!" He said, clutching his chest in an exaggerated manner. His cheeks became more flustered while his voice became croaky.

For the first time in history, Wei Xiao found something ludicrous, even the other's drunk talk is amusing to others, to Wei Xiao, what he said was funnier. But because of his cold demeanor, his face still shows his cold and distant gaze.

"Mo Lanyu is getting married this month. Don't bother." He stated flatly.

Ran Shixuan's beaming exterior was suddenly destroyed. His first love is getting married..not to him. His face darkens as he clutches Wei Xiao's shoulder.

"Help me stop the wedding from happening." Ran Shixuan looked at Wei Xiao with the thought of murder in mind. His eyes were focused on Wei Xiao as if his life depended on him.

    "The elders won't allow you."

Ran Shixuan sat expressionlessly at a nearby chair. He comb back his hair with his hands. "Then why the hell am I here?" He buried his head on his palm and sobbed.

Wei Xiao didn't answer, instead he asked the receptionist to prepare his bath towels and other essentials.
Before he went to the spring, he looked at the half dead Ran Shixuan. This man disgrace his family in front of the mass by telling them that he won't marry the person that his parents wanted for him, and here he is sulking over the fact that his first love will never be his.

Wei Xiao didn't want to intrude in other people's business. The fact that he told Ran Shixuan that Mo Lanyu is getting married is already going to far.

He sighed and walked towards the spring.

Taking the stone path, Wei Xiao found new demon beast statues erected to the side. These were the demon beast of the five great clans in Heavenly City. The first beast you'll see is the White Tiger of the Qin clan, next is the Metal Swallowing Dragon of the Li Clan, afterwards, you'll see the Blazing Phoenix of the Ran clan, next is the Cheng clan's Black Tortoise, and lastly the Mo clan's Wyvern. These statues were crafted by the Heavenly City's best sculptors and were placed here as a tourist attraction, as well as boasting to other clans of how important these families were.

The Plum Blossoms Cold spring is one of the places where cultivators all over the Wolf bane's continent would wish to bathe in. Not only is the service top level, it was also the place where spiritual energy is most concentrated. The amount of cultivators who would come to the Plum Blossoms Cold springs are always in double digits. Which was why Wei Xiao found it odd that the place looks quite deserted.

He walks to the stone path, moving his gaze from one Plum tree to another. When his foot landed fifty meter before fully entering the spring, he could already feel himself being refreshed, that he could work seven days in a week without passing out. The Plum Blossoms sway with the wind while the chirping of the crickets seem to sing a song just for him. The cold wind blew past his cheeks, and swayed his long black hair. The agitation that he felt earlier calmed down and he found himself wanting to smile. But still, his face maintained his cold demeanor.

Once he reached the changing room, He took off his boots, neatly folded his clothes on a wooden rack, and wore a single white towel around his waist. He strolled towards the waters and submerged his whole body in it.
When he raised his head, trickles of water flowed down from his peachy lips, his chin, Adam's apple, chest, down his secret place. He sighed and stared at the black empty sky. He pushes back his hair, and glides his hand from his neck down his chest. The burning agitation he felt this afternoon, extinguished.

Wei Xiao closed his eyes and began to meditate.

The stillness of the evening seemed to last forever. The coolness of the breeze seems to whisper coquettish words to whomever touches it, tickling their ears till it was red.

    five minutes.

    ten minutes.

    twenty.

Wei Xiao opened his eyes to the former black sky which now has thousands of twinkling stars around it. The moon stares at him.

The night was cold, yet the person bathing doesn't seem to notice it.

When he finished his bath, he prepared to get up, only to find a white rabbit with blood red eyes looking at him. The lone rabbit seemed to be watching his every movement. When Wei Xiao stepped foot on the ground, the rabbit would look at it then back at him.

    Is this a demon Beast?

He ignored that idea, thinking that such a small creature would not be a demon beast. But when he looked closer he felt like this rabbit had consciousness.

He turned towards the changing room. The rabbit follows.

When he arrived at his destination, he saw Ran Shixuan taking off his outer robe. The other noticed his presence and beamed a smile at him.

Wei Xiao ignored him and went to get his clothes.

"Oh! What a cute rabbit!" Ran Shixuan exclaimed. "Is this yours? I didn't see you bring any pets when you went in?" He picked up the rabbit who then tried to resist his hands.

Wei Xiao continued to ignore him whilst covering himself with layers of his now-warm clothes. He picked up his boots and sat at a stool, fixing the hems of his pants and wearing his boots.

"Aiyah! this little guy looks as if he wanted to come to you."

Wei Xiao stood up, preparing to leave when he heard a small squeak coming from the rabbit. He turns to find that the rabbit is already stuck to his foot. The rabbit was only half the size of a ruler and was fluffy to the point that you'll have the desire to squish it.

Wei Xiao, although cold and apathetic, had the urge to hug the little rabbit. But because he was in front of someone, he contained his inner excitement.

"The little hare wants you to take him back to your manor." Ran Shixuan raised brows while staring at the rabbit, then at Wei Xiao. "You might get a wife if you bring him with you."

Wei Xiao shrugged and lifted the little rabbit to his arms and left the room.

When he took his fifth step, he heard a muffled sound of laughter from the changing room...then he had the desire to kill.

The little rabbit nestled under his lapels when he found the perfect place to sleep. Wei Xiao petted its head and left for his manor.

    Chapter 3: Xiao Bai?
The little rabbit was silently sleeping inside Wei Xiao's clothes. The warmth of his body gave the little guy a comforting place to rest. Before he left, Wei Xiao asked the people of The Plum Blossoms Spring if they knew who this rabbit's master was, but was told that it might be a stray. Nevertheless, Wei Xiao isn't planning on making this little rabbit his pet.

When he arrived at the front gate of their mansion, The red wooden gate inlaid with golden leaf designs, seemed to glow with the night sky. The moon light hit the gate making it feel like the gates to heaven.

Wei Xiao waved at the guards by the gate, and the two guards opened the gates to welcome their young master.

    The night was still.

    The moon was bright.

The cold breeze blew on his hair, making them sway.

It was a peaceful night, but an unknown feeling rose inside Wei Xiao. He cleared his throat and made his way into his side manor.

"Young Master!" A surprised voice came from the west. He seems to have been startled by the sudden appearance of Wei Xiao. "Why are you still out this time of night?"

Wei Xiao turned to meet the young man. He seemed to have seen him before, but he can't remember. The boy was about 180 cm tall, his facial features aren't as handsome as other men, but because he takes after his mother, he looks a bit feminine. He wore a white and blue hanfu which indicates that he is a direct disciple of the Qin Clan. When his eyes met with Wei Xiao, he shrunk a bit.

Wei Xiao wasn't interested in befriending weak people, but he seems to have forgotten a lot of people he met before. The boy should have a status accompanying him to be able to wear such clothing. He asked the boy :

"Who are you?" He asked with a frown.
The boy was startled but still bowed his head with respect. "I am the eldest disciple of Master Qin Wenyan. My name is Mo Lanyu."

Wei Xiao stared at the other with indifference. He seemed to have a vague guess on why he felt uncomfortable when he entered his home. To meet Mo Lanyu after hearing Ran Shixuan's rant about his love seemed ludicrous, but his face only shows a frown. He started walking towards his side manor when Mo Lanyu called him again.

"Is there anything you need from me?" Wei Xiao raised an eyebrow and stared at the other.

The other flinched and said with a cough. "The Mo clan asked me to tell the Qin Clan Leader that if they ever need help with Qin Zuijia, they could always call us." He lowered his head and turned his gaze away. "My father said that if it's too much for the Qin family to lock Qin Zuijia, the Mo clan would help take care of him."

So this is why this boy was outside and was surprised to see him. The boy must have received a message from his family to try and take Qin Zuijia to their clan by using fawning words and words of distress. But how could Wei Xiao not see this. He knew that many clans wanted to take all the credit in killing Qin Zuijia and bite more than they could chew, but that doesn't mean he would be kind enough to give them what they wanted.

"I will tell my uncle about it." Wei Xiao said as he continued to walk to his house. He stopped as he remembered something. "Do you know someone called Ran Shixuan?"

Mo Lanyu raised his head, his eyes wide open. "Ran Shixuan? The eldest young master of the Ran clan. of course I know him." He smiled and added. "He ran away from his home to get out of marriage." He seemed to find it ridiculous as he puffed out a small laugh.

    "Do you know him personally?"

"No. It's probably best if I don't get close with someone who shamed his family."

Wei Xiao looked at him, and continued to walk. He clarified that this was merely a one-sided love and dare not intrude with their business.

As he walks leisurely towards his house. The little rabbit began to wake up. The rabbit burrowed his little white head onto Wei Xiao's chest and kicked his leg again and again.

Wei Xiao stared at the little rascal and patted it's head. "Be good, I'll bring you back to my chamber and you'll sleep better there."

The rabbit replied by shuffling his body on Wei Xiao's chest.

Wei Xiao sighed and continued to walk.

Once he passed by the judgement hall, he saw his brother with his uncle.

The two men talking to each other with a very warm atmosphere. His brother said something and his uncle nodded in agreement. Both their stature were tall and strong, although his uncle was older, his brother was a bit taller than him. They were both very handsome; His uncle has a chiseled chin and sword eyebrows. He has broad shoulders and whenever he walks he emits such powerful male hormones. His brother, on the other hand, is defined as a jade. His skin is white and smooth, and is always described as a beauty seen once in a blue moon. Although Wei Xiao and his brother are very handsome, and have similar appearances, people would still say that his brother is more attractive than he is when being compared. This was because Wei Xiao is colder while his brother is warm, people would rather choose the warm type of person rather than the cold and distant one. But these comments never bother Wei Xiao, because he never heard of it.

"Uncle, I have talked to madame Li, and she said that the five clans should all decide on what would happen to Qin Zuijia." Wei Xiayu (Wei Xiao's brother) shook his head and sighed. "I'm afraid that the others would try everything just to get their hands on Qin Zuijia."

Qin Xuan (uncle) laughed. "Let it be Xiao Yu. The other clans have their own selfish desires and would do everything to get it."

"But this is our family problem. They should just stay out of it." Wei Xiayu sighed.

"No matter what we say, they won't back down." Qin Xuan patted Wei Xiayu on the back. "Don't stress over this matter. Let me and your brother handle this matter. You will be advancing soon, focus on cultivating."
Wei Xiayu sighed. "I know uncle, I just worry about -"

Wei Xiayu hadn't finished his sentence when Wei Xiao walked towards them. He had a hand on his back and the other holding the white rabbit. He nodded at his brother and turned to his uncle. "Uncle."

"Xiao-er." Qin Xuan nodded. "Have you eaten yet?"

Wei Xiao shakes his head. "I just came back from the plum blossoms spring."

Qin Xuan saw the little rabbit on his hand. "Xiao-er, what is that in your arm?"

Wei Xiao held the rabbit to the two. "I found him in the spring. He followed me around and I had no choice but to take him." he paused for a moment before adding. "He doesn't seem to be owned by anyone. Nevertheless I still plan to ask around."

    Qin Xuan nodded.

Wei Xiayu stared at the rabbit. "This little rabbit. Is it not spiritual?"

Wei Xiao turned to his brother. "I do not know, brother, but he doesn't seem to be special."

Wei Xiayu chuckles. He smiled at his brother. "I will help you search for the owner of the little rabbit." He walked towards Wei Xiao and raised his hand to carry the rabbit. Wei Xiao handed him the rabbit. "I must say, he is certainly adorable. If he doesn't have an owner, shall we keep him?"

"I dare not let the little rabbit run around. He might get hurt."

    Wei Xiayu nodded.

"Xiao-er. What about Qin Zuijia?" Qin Xuan infer.

Wei Xiao nodded to him. "He admits to his wrongdoings. I find him difficult."

Qin Xuan smiled warmly. He patted Wei Xiao's shoulder. "That's alright. Qin Zuijia is different from the people you've met before. He is, after all from the original Qin family. I am afraid that they are the only ones who can understand him."

Wei Xiao nodded. He knew that such a person would never be understood by the normal people. He didn't want to dawdle on this thought, and just threw it at the back of his head.

The three went to eat dinner together. They walk towards the dining hall where most disciples of the family eat. They may be the head and the young masters of the clan, but they prefer eating with others. Although Wei Xiao prefers eating by himself, he still comes to the dining hall with his brother from time to time.

They choose an inconspicuous place in the hall where most disciples wont see them. The two brothers may be handsome, but they are heavy eaters. While Qin Xuan doesn't eat much, having to dine with his nephews makes him happy.

The three ordered their favorites. The Wei brother's food consists mostly of spicy food and two servings of vegetables. Qin Xuan's plate only has mild flavored food and some sweets. The differences in palates are quite apparent, which made Qin Xuan feel down. He knew that the two aren't blood related to him, but he still treats them as family. He sighed in his heart and continued to eat.

"Ah-Xiao, What do you want to do with Qin Zuijia?" Wei Xiayu asked. "The other clans seemed to be planning on something."

"I am afraid that no matter what they try, we won't give them that person." Wei Xiao replied firmly. He held a small meat covered in red hot sauce and delivered it into his lips. He chewed the meat and eventually swallowed. "As far as I know, this is a family matter, outsiders should stay out."

"But we aren't exactly related to him." Qin Xuan mumbles.
The two look at their uncle.

Qin Xuan continued. "Qin Zuijia and the current Qin clan have no blood relations. We may have the same name, but we can't be considered family."

"Uncle. Me and my brother don't have the same name as the clan, but we are considered as family." Wei Xiao defended. "Qin Zuijia is of the Qin clan. They won't be able to use that as an excuse to have all the clans in the Heavenly City gather up and decide on what to do with Qin Zuijia."

Qin Xuan smiled and patted Wiei Xiao in the head. He stood up and said. "I have another matter to attend to. You boys continue." He walked out of the dining hall. His bowl was still half full.

"Ah-Xiao." Wei Xiayu called. "You do not know how vicious the other clans are whenever they see such treasure." He took a bite of his meal and added. "If they had the chance, no matter how small it is, they would take it if it would get them such an advantage in cultivation."

"But this matter should only involve the family."

"Yes. If it was just a normal member of the clan, they wouldn't move, but this is Qin Zuijia. He is the only one left from the original family, and has the highest level of cultivation. Even the noblest of character would be tempted to get him." He sighed and continued. "Having Qin Zuijia in the clan is quite problematic."

Wei Xiao looks at his brother. Indeed the situation they are currently in is a problem to the clan, but that won't mean they would just hand over Qin Zuijia to the other clans. They have to make a decision immediately before the other family moves.

Wei Xiao thinks of a way to solve this issue when the little rabbit hopped onto the table and drank the water in the bowl. His little pink tongue scoop up the water, covering his pink nose with water. Wei Xiao placed a green leaf right next to the rabbit who ate it. Wei Xiao squinted his eyes then turned to his brother.

"Do you think that this rabbit came from the other clan?"

    Wei Xiayu Smiled. "Maybe."

The answer made Wei Xiao worrisome. If this cute little rabbit is indeed a spy from the other clan then they would have disclosed such information to it.

"But I doubt the other clan would send a small animal as a spy." He took the last piece of meat on his plate. "The little rabbit would have died before he went back to his masters."

"What if it's master is already here?"

"Then we'll just kill it before it comes back to its owner."

The little rabbit continues to nibble his food. He didn't seem to understand what the two just said. Wei Xiao stares at it as though examining it.

"I don't think it's smart enough to do so." Wei Xiao said firmly. "He might have just gotten lost."

    Wei Xiayu nodded.

After eating, the two went separate ways. One went to the peach blossoms pavilion on the east and the other in the side manor on the southwest.

Wei Xiao carried the little rabbit back to his chambers and placed it on his bed to rest. He sat crossed legged on the floor and started to cultivate.

He opened his eyes the next morning and went to see the little hare. The rabbit was still sleeping on his bed. The rabbit was small, but it was fat. Its cheeks were round looking like fresh dumplings. Wei Xiao felt as though he wanted to pinch it's cheeks, but the rabbit woke up and bounced around. It jumped towards Wei Xiao who grabbed it by the ear.

"Be still. I have to come visit the dungeon again." He patted its round behind as if scolding. "Be good and I won't turn you into stew."

The rabbit looks at him with the same eyes. It didn't show any response to his threat.

Wei Xiao put him inside his lapels and went to visit the dungeon.

On the way, he was greeted with young disciples and guards.

The dungeon was as cold and dark as any other. The walls were wet and the ground was covered with several cracks from which weeds grew out. Wei Xiao continued to walk to the end where Qin Zuijia was locked up in. He prepared himself to talk to the other, thinking that this person won't remind him of another.

The person in front of Wei Xiao has his head lowered, his body slumped on the wall. His clothes were tattered, covered with mud and was wet. His skin was pale. His whole appearance was pitiful.

Qin Zuijia raised his head to meet his eyes with Wei Xiao. His eyes were kind with no hint of viciousness like the story says. "Hello." His hoarse voice spread through the dungeon. He coughed and added. "Does young master Wei need me for something?"

Wei Xiao looked at him up and down. He suppressed the burning feeling on his chest when his eyes met with the other. Just then, Qin Xuan came to the dungeon.

"Elder Qin!" He said with a smile. "You might not know me. I am Qin Xuan, the eldest son of Qin Baili, and the grandson of Qin Wanyin."

"Wanyin?" Qin Zuijia looked at the person in front of him. He smiled and said. "He used to borrow books from me back then." He lowered his head as he remembered something. "He always brings me a basket of fruit whenever he wants to borrow a book from me. I didn't understand why he wanted to read them, they were all manuals and recipes that mages use."

Qin Xuan smiled. "I do not know much about my grandfather, but I heard he was an amazing practitioner."
"He was." Qin Zuijia chuckles. "I'm sorry about what happened."

    "I understand." Qin Xuan replied.

Qin Zuijia lifted his head to look at Qin Xuan. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, I understand that you are aware of what you've done, and are willing to compensate."

"I am." Qin Zuijia looks at him with baffled eyes. "Are you going to kill me to repay my debt?"

Qin Xuan shakes his head. "I want to ask for a request from you."

    "What is it?"

"Run away from Heavenly City with my nephew."

Wei Xiao looked at his uncle confused. "What do you mean, uncle?"

"Xiao-er, Qin Zuijia is in danger of being stolen by the other clans of heavenly city. Run away with him to a place where people won't know him."

    "But-"

"Clan leader Qin!" Qin Zuijia interrupted. "What makes you think that I wont run away if you let me go?"

Qin Xuan smiles at him. "There seems to be a story about you that isn't known to others." He stepped forwards and held the iron bars in front of him. "Elder Qin, you don't seem to be that kind of person to run away after presenting yourself to the clan. I trust that my nephew would help you with the problem you had before everything went wrong."

"Uncle, are you sure about this?" Wei Xiao intervened. "What did the others say?"

"They won't have to know." Qin Xuan looks at his nephew. "Xiao-er, you have to leave tomorrow in the evening, before the rest of the clan notice something."

Wei Xiao looks at his uncle in disbelief. He turned his gaze towards Qin Zuijia. His lips opened but he didn't say anything. He stopped and thought about what his uncle just said. Then he spoke to Qin Zuijia. "What do you say?"

Qin Zuijia looks at Wei Xiao. He lowered his head. "up to you."

Qin Xuan nodded with satisfaction. He left after telling the guards not to say anything about this matter to anyone else.

Wei Xiao stood face to face with Qin Zuijia. "You won't run away?"

"No." Qin Zuijia replied accompanied by a series of coughs. "Your uncle is right. I have already set my mind into receiving punishment from the clan."

"Do you understand what he meant? about the others knowing."

"Do the other clans want to take me for their selfish desires?"

"Yes. Uncle isn't confident enough to say that he can keep this as a family matter. With you as the issue, people would be tempted to intervene."

Qin Zuijia didn't reply. He slumped back to the wall and rested his head on it. His eyes were red and his lips were chapped.

Wei Xiao wanted to leave when the little rabbit inside his lapels suddenly jumped out and rushed towards Qin Zuijia. It licked his nose as if trying to get his attention.

"Xiao Bai?" Qin Zuijia's quiet voice sounded.

    "You know this rabbit?"

Qin Zuijia looked at Wei Xiao and smiled. "If I am not mistaken, this should be the rabbit that woke me up that time."

Wei Xiao's chest began to hurt. He felt irritated and a bit confused. He bit his lip and cough to cover up what's happening. "Then take him. He isn't mine to begin with."

"He isn't mine either." He lifted his hands to pat the little rabbit in the head. The chains sounded harsh when he lifted his hand, but the little rabbit didn't care. "He just showed up in my cottage and I gave it a name. I don't intend to keep a pet."

Wei Xiao looks at the rabbit, then at the hand which was playing with it. His Adam's apple bobbed. "I'll be leaving now. I haven't had breakfast, and I should bring something for Xiao Bai to eat."

"Take him with you. This place would cover his fur with dirty water."

Wei Xiao nodded and called the rabbit over. He nodded at Qin Zuijia and left.

    Chapter 4: Qin Family Journals

When he left the dungeon, Wei Xiao's mind was still thinking of what his uncle had said. It's not that he doesn't trust the decision made by his elder, but the fact that having the lunatic that killed thousands of practitioners set off to hide with him made him feel uncomfortable and reluctant. Qin Zuijia may be hiding facts about his past, but that doesn't mean they should just free him from the punishment. Wei Xiao was pondering what his uncle might be up to when the little rabbit jumped down from his arms and hopped straight to a bush.

Wei Xiao reached out his hand to grab the little rabbit back and found his nephew hiding by the bush and patting the rabbit on the head.

"Bad rabbit!" The child berated. The child was only two years old, a little chubby with his cheeks swollen for eating too much. The flushed cheeks make him look cute and his eyes shine like the morning sun. Indeed a child that has not seen the coldness and ruthlessness of the world are the most beautiful.

"Xiao ling?" Wei Xiao called his nephew. The sudden appearance of this young master here is very unusual. He is currently standing in front of the judgement hall where Xiao Ling shouldn't have been in. "Why are you here?"

Xiao Ling looked up at his uncle and smiled. His white teeth were beaming at him, and although it was missing one tooth in the front, he looks rather adorable. "Xiao Ling wants to see uncle!"

Wei Xiao looks at the child intently. He furrowed his brow as though examining if the other was lying.

Xiao Ling saw his expression and copied him, furrowing his brow and pouting. When the child does this, his eyes would cross and he would look more cute than intimidating.

Wei Xiao noticed his actions and softened his brows. He showed the kid his hands and said. "The ground is dirty, come with uncle and we'll get you something to eat."

The child heard his sentence and became excited. Yes, even the child is gluttons like his father and uncle.

Xiao Ling stood up, patted the dirt on his clothes and walked towards his uncle. Wei Xiao lifted the child up and carried him to the dining hall. The little rabbit followed behind them, never failing to keep up his pace. Soon they arrived at the dining hall where many disciples and guards had already gotten their food. Some came in, and some went out. The place isn't crowded, but there are still a lot of people inside.

Wei Xiao found an inconspicuous table to sit on. He had his nephew sit down and he went to get them food.

Later, their table was filled with hot and spicy food. Though Xiao Ling was only two years old, his appetite is very large. He could eat a whole chicken in one sitting and still want more. Good thing is that their clan is very rich and could pacify the gluttons (a.k.a the Wei brothers and the little Wei child)

The little rabbit was happily nibbling on his green cabbage and occasionally looking at the two human beings in front of him. One tall was eating three bowls with dumplings and spring rolls, dipping them in hot sauce. The small one was happily holding a chicken leg and greedily munching on them. The atmosphere in their table would be considered harmonious, although one was cold and the other was like the spring. Their interaction was still warm.

Upon suddenly seeing this scene. Wei Xiayu's lips curved into a sinister smile. He planned on surprising his son who had his back on him. He giggled menacingly and quietly walked towards their table. The little rabbit saw him coming and immediately ran towards him, ruining his planned surprise.

"Dada!" Xiao Ling exclaimed as he saw his father coming to greet him.

    "Ah-Ling!" Wei Xiayu awkwardly replied.

Xiao Ling ran towards his father and pulled him to their table. "Dada eats with Xiao Ling." He stated.

Wei Xiayu smiled helplessly and let his son drag him to the table.

"You haven't eaten yet?" Wei Xiao's cold and indifferent voice sounded from the table.

"I have, but I'm still not full."

    "Dada Eat!" Xiao Ling exclaimed.

Wei Xiayu rubbed his son's hair and smiled warmly.

Xiao Ling loved being spoiled by his father so he didn't stop him from rubbing his head. He took his half eaten chicken leg and handed it to his father.

"Ah! Ah-Ling loves papa so much!" He exclaimed, stupidly. The father-son duo was ridiculous to look at yet their interaction is very warm.

"Has Big Sister eaten yet?" Wei Xiao asked.

"She has. We had some guards bring food in the pavilion, but it wasn't enough for me. The meal was enough for Ah-Ling, but not for me." He sighed regretfully while rubbing his stomach.

Though the Wei Brothers and little Ling have big appetites, they never gain too much weight. Their body proportions are perfect, and both brothers had eight pack abs. Their spiritual energy helps maintain the beauty of their body. But Xiao Ling, on the other hand, is a chubby baby. His face almost resembles a ball. But for a two year old child, no matter how fat he gets, he still looks adorable.

"Uncle Xiao! Eat!" Xiao Ling exclaimed. Wei Xiao looked at him with his brows furrowed as if he was angry. Xiao Ling copied him while adding a pouting lips and with his arms crossed. The little fatty looks even rounder with him crossing his arms.

"Aiya! Xiao Ling is mad!?" Wei Xiayu teased. "tsk tsk, Uncle should apologize to Ah-Ling."

Xiao Ling continued to pout. Wei Xiao took advantage of his pouting lips to deliver a spring roll to his mouth. Xiao Ling opened his mouth and let the spring roll be delivered while still pretending to be angry.

Wei Xiayu laughed at his arrogant yet adorable act. He tried to suppress his laughter but was unable to. The neighboring table has long seen the scene, when they saw that their young master's and the little young master's actions, they couldn't help but laugh as well. Now the whole dining hall is filled with laughter.

When Xiao Ling saw that everyone was laughing, he couldn't help but laugh as well. He was the type of kid that follows what the others are doing. He could be stubborn sometimes, but he was still a child. When people around him were happy, he felt happy and he couldn't help but share it to everyone around him.

When they finished eating, Wei Xiao separated from the two and went to talk to his uncle.

In the middle of the Qin clan's massive manor sits the office of the clan leader. The two doors separating the outside from the inside was filled with an oppressive atmosphere where normal people won't be able to take. Beyond that door is a room filled with files, important documents and many artifacts that should not be seen by others. Though those things are in that room, they were still hidden in a secret chamber.

Wei Xiao tidied his clothes and proceeded to knock on the door.

"Who is it?" The tranquil voice of Qin Xuan sounded as if it came from a heavenly figure. Wei Xiao subconsciously stiffened.

"...It's me, uncle." After a minute, Wei Xiao finally replied.

The doors opened, showing a man in celestial white robe reading scriptures and several letters. He had his long black hair loose, spreading to his shoulder, and his chest. He looks as if he was a fairy and was more heavenly than Wei Xiao, himself.

"What do you need?" Qin Xuan looked up at him and smiled.

    "About what Uncle said earlier."

Qin Xuan laughs. He had his hand covering his lips. "What about it?"

"Could Uncle enlighten me about your sudden decision to let Qin Zuijia go."

Qin Xuan hummed. He stood up to take a booklet from his drawer and handed them into Wei Xiao. "I don't know what others might think, but the Qin family are the most honest family in the whole Wolf bane continent."

Wei Xiao saw that it was a journal written by Qin Zuijia. Here was writing everything that he thought during the last five years before his name was smeared with blood. The cover of the journal lights up white then yellow.

"Over the years, The Qin Clan has never lied, that book states all of Qin Zuijia's inner thoughts." Qin Xuan reclined back to his chair. "With his personality, it is very doubtful for him to have inner demons and kill those thousands of practitioners. On top of that he is a mage."

Wei Xiao understood what his uncle had said. Qin Zuijia was a mage. Mages can strengthen their spiritual force to drive away inner demons that lurk and try to destroy one's mind, leading to a Qi deviation and death. The higher the level of the spiritual force the greater the chances of expelling the internal demons, that was one of the advantage mages have over martial artists. It was really weird for Qin Zuijia, who was the highest level mage in all the Wolf bane Continent, to go berserk and have inner demons controlling his thoughts. Probably the reason why people didn't notice this abnormality was because they were too focused on cursing and hating Qin Zuijia. But what exactly happened? How come he was controlled by inner demons? Now, Wei Xiao understood why his uncle wanted him to escape with Qin Zuijia. His uncle wanted to uncover the truth and maybe clean the Qin family's name.

Although Wei Xiao was still reluctant to do so, he was trusted by his uncle to such an important job. He nodded in agreement, but his heart was still unsure of Qin Zuijia.

Qin Xuan smiled at his nephew and patted him on the shoulder. He pushed the other out of his office and locked the door close.

He bit his lip and went back to his house.
When he left, he continued to contemplate what his uncle had said. He figured out why he felt unsure of Qin Zuijia. Yes, it is unlikely for a mage to have inner demons, but the fact that he has inner demons was frightening to anyone who would notice. If even the purest mage had inner demons, what about the others? Qin Zuijia may be pure before, but because of inner demons he fell into the wrong side. If Qin Zuijia fell, then the other mages would fall as well.

He frowned when ponders a bit more and found that something didn't sound right. The reason why mages don't have inner demons is because of the nature of their soul, mages' souls have marks that are stronger than martial artists and the color by which the mark shines tells how powerful a mage could become. Mages' souls act as defense against inner demons that infect their thinking. With this, doesn't that mean Qin Zuijia's soul was damaged, but when they checked, his soul was healthy.

Wei Xiao can't think of a reason why it happened. Maybe Qin Zuijia was just crazy, but when he looked at him that time, he looked normal. He reluctantly pushed that issue aside and resolved to follow his Uncle's orders.
He walked towards the direction of his manor and found two people waiting for him in the front. One was the irritable madan Li and the other was the Clan leader of the Li family- Li Biming.

The Li family's head was extremely arrogant but has the face to be one. He was handsome, but not like jade like Wei Xiayu and Wei Xiao. His attractiveness is like a beacon, beautiful to look at, but the moment you get close, you'll burn. Li Biming has delicate features making him look like a woman, his voice is soft yet the words that come out of them are menacing. He is madam Li's half-brother from the same father, but the gap of their age is quite large- madame Li is already 126 years old, while Li Biming is only 24. When their father died, He was already 200 years old, and the clan had wanted him to step down, but because he was very powerful, he remained seated only to be killed by his own son. This fact is known to others, but because Qin Zuijia, who used to be the next clan leader of the Qin Clan, killed thousands of people, they choose to ignore the former.

"Young master Wei." Li Biming cupped his hands and bowed to Wei Xiao.

"Clan Leader Li." Wei Xiao merely nodded. "What brings you to my residence?" His voice was deep, cold, making the others feel uncomfortably freezing.

Li Biming cleared his throat and spoke. "Young master Wei Xiayu has mentioned that the matter concerning Qin Zuijia is supervised by Young master Wei, I came here to discuss this matter with you." He spoke resolutely without a care for what the other might say.

Wei Xiao looked at him indifferently and proceeded to enter his home. He slammed the door close, which told the other party that he has no care to listen to what they say.

Li Biming fumed with anger. He gritted his teeth and struck the door with his fist. The hard collision made the door quake, but stayed firmly closed. The loud sound frightened the birds that were perched on the trees which made them fly away. Li Biming won't leave, not until he gets his hand on the treasure he wanted.

"Wei Xiao! You think just because Qin Xuan treats you as family that you can act arrogant towards other!!" Li Biming shouted.

Inside the manor, Wei Xiao put up a barrier. He can't hear what Li Biming shouted, but even if he heard it, he would act as though he didn't. He walked into the library to search up books that he needed to bring for his journey the next night. He prepared two brocade pouches - one for him and the other for Qin Zuijia. Even though he knew that Qin Zuijia has no other properties now, that doesn't mean he won't have more in the future.

The brocade pouches that he took may not have the largest space, but it wasn't the smallest either. Both pouches had 50 square meter space just enough to store the most common things they needed. He also took a Jade box which contains several gems, jewelry and gold coins.

He stood in front of the book shelf searching for an important manuscript and training manual that he currently practices. His eyes landed at a book which was written by the legendary savior from the Qin family.

It was a journal like what his uncle showed him. It holds his inner thoughts and view of the world. The journals that the Qin descendants have are used to evaluate their mind. Every five years, an elder would evaluate the younger generation through their journal and would guide them to follow the right path. Qin Zuijia's journal was filled with the desire to bring pride to the Qin family, occasionally he would write about what food he wanted to eat, how he thinks about his comrades and how he hates cultivating, but never was it filled with malice. The journal is locked with complicated barriers and only the owner could open them. The evaluation mostly determines the emotion of the owner when writing and is judged based on what color shines on the surface - White- Pure but empty, Yellow- Happy and healthy, Blue- Sad yet strong, Red- strong yet aggressive, Black- requires immediate aid. Qin Zuijia's journal shows two colors White and yellow.

He took the journal and saw that it shines blue and black. The legendary figure that everyone loves stores his true thoughts in this journal, yet for some reason it glows black. Why does he require immediate aid?

Wei Xiao thought for a while, but didn't linger in that thought. Maybe the other just suddenly felt really sad that he wasn't able to cultivate his emotion well. He took the book and stored them in his brocade pouch.

The little rabbit, who was hiding in his clothes, leaped towards the book before it was put away.

Wei Xiao was surprised by the little rabbit's sudden appearance and had almost forgotten about him when he went to his uncle. He rubbed the little rabbit's head and tried to lift him up. The little rabbit protested, struggling to push Wei Xiao's hand away.

Wei Xiao looked at the little rabbit trying his best to push away the hand that was about to pick him up.

"What do you want?" Wei Xiao murmured.

The little rabbit slumped down on the book and rubbed his head on it. The book glowed even brighter. The black and blue color looked very beautiful, but the meaning behind them was quite worrisome.

"Is there something in the book?" Wei Xiao noticed that the book changes the intensity of the color when the little rabbit rubbed his head on it.

The little rabbit ignored him and sniffed the book again and again. He stuck out his tongue to lick it a couple of times. He looked very happy with the book.

Wei Xiao was stupefied, he found the rabbit quite adorable, but didn't know what to do. He stood silently, watching the rabbit try and hug the entire book.

"...Xiao Bai, is there something in the book that you like?"

The rabbit continued to try and wrap his paws around the book. He repeated his action of trying to hug the whole book, but no matter how he tries, he was still too small.

Wei Xiao knitted his brows and pulled the book away. Xiao Bai fell to his bosoms and was trapped in one of Wei Xiao's arms. Wei Xiao held the rabbit firmly, making the other unable to move. He placed the book down on the table and stared at it for a moment.

"What does Xiao Bai want with this book?" He asked the little rabbit though he knew it wouldn't answer.
Xiao Bai stares at the book as if it was his lost treasure.

Wei Xiao sighed. If it wasn't for the fact that every Journals that were given to the Qin family heir can only be opened by its owner, He would have opened the book and seen what the little rabbit was buzzing about. Though the distribution of journals, like the one in front of him now, has stopped when the members of the original Qin family died, Wei Xiao is still interested with the said journals and wanted to have one in order for him to know whether his inner thoughts were good or not.

His thoughts wander as the time passes, and when he comes back to his senses, ten minutes have passed. He thought of what it would be like if he was a part of the original family and was able to have a journal like them, but then he remembered that the legendary figure from the Qin family's journal shone Black and blue, his thoughts turned cold. How could a legendary figure have impure thoughts and the man inside the cell has pure one. He pondered for a moment and decided that it may be because of their different generation.

Wei Xiao continued to pack for his journey outside the Heavenly City and took the most essential objects in his manor. He took his Jade pendant and tied them to his belt. This would be the first and last time he would wear that Jade Pendant inside the Heavenly City. This would also be the last time he'll be in the Qin manor before it collapses.

Chapter 5: Making The Most Of It
Wei Xiao went out after packing. He drew back the barrier and heard cursing at his door. Wei Xiao sneered at those hypocritical people and went to meet him.

Li Biming's flushed face welcomed him when he opened the doors, his feminine features were distorted and streams seemed to come out of his head. He was beautiful, but when he was angry, he looked like those devils running around.

"WEI XIAO!" He pointed his fingers at him. "YOU AREN'T REALLY FROM THE QIN FAMILY. YOU DARE ACT ARROGANT IN FRONT OF ME!!"

Wei Xiao looked at him. If his understanding of the person is correct, He would be one of those who would take pleasure in torturing his family once they take over. Though the Qin family can fight, they still can't stand against the Four great clans. They would end up dead or in prison if they fight. The original family might have won, but none from them exists in this world other than Qin Zuijia, and he was the catalyst for this feud.

Wei Xiao nodded at Li Biming and Madam Li and went on his way to see his brother.

Li Biming saw that he had been ignored and cursed at Wei Xiao. When the others seemed unaffected, He rushed towards him with his sword.

Wei Xiao dodge to the side and continue to walk, unaffected. The other was still fuming, and the swing of his sword was unorganized. He could have hit Wei Xiao if his thoughts were not in disarray, but today seems like a bad day for him.

Wei Xiao slammed his fist on the other's face. As everyone in the whole Heavenly City knows that Clan leader Li's greatest asset was his face, coincidentally, this was also his greatest weakness. Wei Xiao mercilessly punched the other in the face and walked away as if nothing had happened.

Li Biming was still stunned by the other's action of hitting his face. When he came to his senses, he gritted his teeth and vowed to kill Wei Xiao the next time they meet.

Wei Xiao went to the Peach Blossoms pavilion and watched as his brother played happily with his son and wife. Qin Xuan had already told them about the matter and that they can no longer do anything other than have Wei Xiao take Qin Zuijia away with him. Though the clan would completely disappear, at least the others won't be able to take what they came here to steal. His brother is now enjoying the last moments he'd be able to spend with his child and wife.

Wei Xiayu's wife is the most beautiful woman in the heavenly City. She was the eldest daughter of Clan Leader Ran and Madam Li, Ran Linghua. She was looking at his husband tenderly, she was also aware of what would happen in the future, and she vowed to die with his husband when the time comes.

The three happily interacted together. Wei Xiao chest hurt, this should be the last time he would feel this warmth in his lifetime.

Xiao Ling saw his uncle coming and beckoned him to walk faster. He brought a small dumpling to Wei Xiao's hand and ordered him to eat it. Wei Xiao did as he was told.

"Uncle, yummy?" Xiao Ling asked him.

    "Yummy." Wei Xiao murmured.

Wei Xiayu laughed at the interaction between his brother and son. His smile was bright, and it seemed that this smile would also disappear soon.

"Ah-Xiao, Come and play with Xiao Ling." Wei Xiayu said. He turned to his wife and said, "Ah-Ling, come bring Xiao-er some tea."

Ran Linghua smiled at Wei Xiao and went to get some tea.

Wei Xiayu smiled at his brother. "Xiao-er, can I request something from you?"

Wei Xiao was stunned for a moment, but quickly came back to his senses. He was still thinking of how to get the most out of this moment that they have left, and was a little out of it.

"About Xiao Ling." Wei Xiayu directly went to business. "Ah-Xiao should be aware of what will happen in the coming days."

    "Mn." Wei Xiao nodded.

"If it's not too much." He smiled as though Wei Xiao was his last hope. "Could you bring Xiao Ling with you?"

Wei Xiao was stunned, but was also aware that his brother wouldn't let the child see what would happen in the next few days. Choosing between having his brother bring his son away, even if it means it would be the last time they would meet, and having his son killed by the others, it was obvious that he would pick the former one. Wei Xiao didn't disagree with his decision, He knew that it was for the best.

"What about brother and elder sister?" Wei Xiao asked.

Wei Xiayu shakes his head. "As the Heir to the Qin clan, I have to defend our family. Ah-Ling wont go as well. We plan to stay and fight till the end. Maybe we'll win."

Wei Xiao bit his lips and was unable to say anything else. He gripped his clothes and heaved a helpless sigh.

    Wei Xiayu smiled at him.

Ran Linghua saw that the two brothers were chatting and a trance of a warm smile was placed on his lips. She was aware of what his husband wanted to do and for the sake of defending the home that welcomed her, she was willing to fight along with them.

Xiao Ling was still too young to understand what the two brothers were talking about. He put a confused look on his face before asking. "Xiao Ling goes with Uncle? Where?"

Wei Xiayu smiled at his son. It was unknown what he was feeling. I could be griefed about being unable to stay with his son till he grows up, Helplessness towards other clans retaliating against the current Qin clan, fear that everyone he loves might die. But no matter what he feels, he cannot change the fact that this war between the four great clans and the Qin clan is set in stone.

It must be known that the current Qin clan isn't as strong as the original one. Without the bloodline of the original family, they cannot call upon their ancestral Demon beasts. And even though Qin Xuan is already in the late golden core stage, the enemy was at least at the peak stages. Their star rank was far from each other as well. The only thing they could do is run away or stay and fight.

The brothers look at each other; one places a beautiful smile on his face, and the other is enveloped in cold frost.

Wei Xiayu drank the tea which his wife brought in and said. "Uncle is bringing Xiao Ling out to play tomorrow, be good and stay with uncle, alright."

    Xiao Ling nodded vigorously.

Finding his nephew acting like himself, Wei Xiao's tense heart eased a bit, but he still bit his lower lip.

"Ah-Xiao, be good, alright?" Wei Xiayu whispered to Wei Xiao.

    Wei Xiao sighed and nodded.

The time went by and the harmonious atmosphere maintained until the night. The four people on the pavilion expressed their happiness with each other, the little grievance they have in their hearts and the warm laughter that would stay as a memory in their soul.

When time arrived, Wei Xiayu embraced his brother. His eyes were a bit red and it was unknown when he would end up bursting with tears, but he kept it in, not wanting the other to see them. He smiled at Wei Xiao and said his goodbyes.

The Sun sank and the sky was lit brightly by glistening stars. But it was as if knives were on Wei Xiao's heart.

Chapter 6: I'll take your clothes off
The next day came, The sun shines beautifully down a lone manor on top of a hill. Wei Xiao was sleepless. His eyes bulged, and tears came flowing down. Today's the day. The last day he's going to see his family. The last day he'd see his people. Wei Xiao was huffing and puffing, covered with sweat, chest hurting. He bit his lip, but to no avail. His whole body was trembling, grief placated onto his face...Wei Xiao was scared.

He wanted to fix his appearance but he could feel his body. It was as if a large boulder was crushing him down. He felt tired. So. so. so tired. He remembered the last he felt like this was when he found out that his parents had an accident in an expedition. He was trembling endlessly when he read the letter sent by the disciples who followed his parents. But that was the last thing they sent before the letter saying that his parents were dead. At that time, he was still 12 years old. In order to distract himself, he cultivated and cultivated. He had no sense of time when cultivating, and most of the time, he'd exhaust himself.

Today was yet another doomsday for Wei Xiao. He was trembling so much that he didn't notice that a certain little rabbit had snuck out.

He wanted to stand up, but his body didn't respond.

When he felt a little strength flowing through his body, He heave a sigh of relief. If he cannot perform the task sent to him by his uncle, then he won't be able to show his face to him again. That is if the other was still alive.

Ten minutes later, Wei Xiao can finally move. He stood up immediately, but then fell down again. Though he can move, his blood hasn't yet circulated properly. He fell to the ground with a loud 'bang'.

    ------------

Wei Xiao made his way to the dungeon. He held his head along the way, trying to lessen the throbbing pain he got when he stood up that morning. In addition, his heart hasn't yet felt relief, it made it even worse when he saw the massage circulating in their residence:

'We advise the disciples under the Qin Clan to take a very long vacation. In the next few days, we might experience a lot of difficulties, and might not even survive. Those who are willing to stay, are invited to the Clan Leader's office to discuss the matter. Those who don't, please leave immediately.

The Qin Family bids you farewell.'

Though what type of difficulty they would experience wasn't stated, those who read them can understand that something isn't right. Many disciples stayed, some left a little muddle-headed. Those who inquired about the problem started to question only to feel cold and frightened...indeed, the Qin clan have fallen.

Wei Xiao arrived at the dungeon, his expression now cold. If no one would inquire, they wouldn't know that deep down, Wei Xiao was still panic-stricken.

The dungeon was still cold, wet and a bit dirty. The walls were covered with water which flowed from all directions. The sole of Wei Xiao's boots were already covered with mud. He held a uniform worn by the guards on one hand, with it, there was a bottle containing a light blue pill.

He stood in front of Qin Zuijia's cell, only to find that the other was trembling as if cold. He coughed and sneezed repeatedly, and his fave were bright red, eyes misted, and red. His body was lying weakly on the ground, hugging himself, trying to feel a little bit warm, but because his clothes were already covered with water, there was much heat. Though Wei Xiao hasn't checked Qin Zuijia's temperature yet, he knew just from the other's looks that he has a fever.

Wei Xiao unlocked the cell door and went inside. He checked the other's temperature and sure enough he was convulsing.

He grabbed the other's wet clothes that were sticking to his skin, showing a thin and white figure. Though he was a little muddy, his delicate and jade like body still showed. His hair draped down his chest which was half open by the sudden movement of Wei Xiao's hand. His collarbone was already eye-catching, yet two pink points on the side of the chest over shadowed it.

Qin Zuijia's eyes widened by the sudden movement. He wanted to push the other's hand, but found that he was extremely weak. He coughed and blood came out of his mouth.

"I'm changing your clothes." Wei Xiao's cold and indifferent voice sounded right next to Qin Zuijia's ear. The other's hot breath touches his ear making it blush.

Qin Zuijia felt the hot breath and soon relaxed. He knew the other only wanted to help, and was relieved, but the sudden closeness made him hold his breath. He didn't know if it was because he had been stuck in a cold and wet place, or some other factor, but his private place suddenly felt tight.

"I'll take your clothes off." Wei Xiao continued.

Qin Zuijia suddenly felt that the situation wasn't right and shouted with a cough. "No. Ah!" He coughs twice then adds. "I'll do it."

Wei Xiao kept his expression cold. He didn't notice the sudden closeness between them, nor that his words were a bit weird. His mind was still panicking from today's important activity. He let go of Qin Zuijia's clothes and stood up.

Qin Zuijia watched his stand up, but didn't leave, nor did he give him the change of clothes. "Can I have the change of clothes?" He asked.

Wei Xiao was still muddle headed and gave him the set of clothes in his hand. He stood there silently, no sign of leaving what-so-ever.

Qin Zuijia's head was still hurting, and his fever was still high. He didn't want to talk anymore and just strip in place.

Wei Xiao expressionlessly looked at the other while they took off their clothes little by little. His gaze doesn't seem to hold much emotion.

Qin Zuijia didn't care anymore. Moving just a little for him exhausted his body and soul. He wanted to get things over with, and didn't care if Wei Xiao was watching him strip.

Later, he wore black and tied his hair loosely then fell onto Wei Xiao's bosom. Wei Xiao awoken by the sudden weight added onto him, and realized that the other was already done dressing. He took out the blue pill and gave it to Qin Zuijia, only to find that the other was sound asleep.

Wei Xiao knitted his brow and carried Qin Zuijia back to his manor in a princess carry. His actions were smooth and didn't wake the man in his arms. He hid Qin Zuijia's head on his chest to not let anyone notice that he let the man out of the dungeon already.

When he arrived at his house, he placed Qin Zuijia on his bed and covered him with a quilt. He prepared a barrier to cover his home as he left to get some food and medicine.

He returned and brought hot porridge for Qin Zuijia and medicine for him to eat. He stood by his bed and lifted Qin Zuijia's head. He tried waking the other up, but to no avail. He compromised and started feeding the other while asleep.

Qin Zuijia was extremely obedient even when asleep and drank the porridge. Later, the medicine was served. He only knitted his brows and drank the whole medicine as well.

It must be known that that medicine was extremely bitter and even Wei Xiao didn't like it. He was surprised that Qin Zuijia would drink the whole thing.

Wei Xiao inexplicably felt bad for the man in front of him. His eyes darken for a bit, but he still kept quiet, looking at the other's knitted brow.

Qin Zuijia's temperature was still high, but not as high as before. He continued to huff and puff, gasping from time to time. He kept shivering all over. Wei Xiao added another quilt onto him, but the next moment he threw the quilts away, then shivered again.

Qin Zuijia's hand searched for a blanket, but didn't seem to find any. Wei Xiao knitted his brows and placed the quilt onto him. Then, Qin Zuijia's brows knitted further and threw the quilt away, then shivered again.

Wei Xiao watched the whole scene and didn't know whether he wanted to hit Qin Zuijia in the head or directly throw him at the lion's den as a feed. He went and took the quilt again and threw it onto Qin Zuijia. Then he thought of an idea that would solve his problem.

Later, Qin Zuijia started sweating. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. We Xiao delt relieved that the medicine started working. He grabbed a wet towel and washed Qin Zuijia's face and neck, then he thought that he should wash his body as well.

Wei Xiao stared at the other's body which was wrapped with a blanket like a human sushi. He wanted to unwrap the blanket, but then Qin Zuijia woke up.

"Awake?" Wei Xiao looked at the other who was still muddle headed and a bit confused. His eyes were misted and a bead of tear hung on the side of his eyes.

"Where.." Qin Zuijia looked around the place.

"You're in my home." Wei Xiao unwrapped Qin Zuijia.

Qin Zuijia's clothes were covered with sweat. His clothes stuck to his skin, making his already thin figure look more charming.

"Eat. I brought more food." Wei Xiao said.

When Wei Xiao said more food, he meant 'food that is already too much, yet added with another too much food'. The table was filled with different food, both spicy and mild. To the hungry, this would be heaven, but Qin Zuijia's appetite was lost when he had the fever. When he saw the mountains and mountains of food, He wanted to retch.

"Young master Wei, don't you think it's too much?" Qin Zuijia felt dizzy, looking at the table. His head began to hurt again, and he wanted to sleep more.

"Change your clothes then eat." Wei Xiao commanded. He sat at the table, not caring about Qin Zuijia. He began to place several foods onto his plate and started eating.

Qin Zuijia wanted to retch at the other's food intake. His already small appetite seems to turn smaller by the other's large food intake.

Qin Zuijia felt helpless and sighed. "I'll take a bath first."

"Quickly change your clothes, you'll get more sick if you wear that."

Qin Zuijia nodded and went to boil some hot water and prepare a bath for himself. His temperature was still a bit high, but he felt dirty whenever he sweat. He found a perfectly folded black robe for him to wear. It was engraved with the Qin family sigil. The sigil represented the family's tie with the White tiger demon clan and was passed from generation to generation. Qin Zuijia himself used to have a white tiger demon beast, but for some reason their contract dissolved and his contracted beast was nowhere to be found. Now, he felt that something doesn't sound right with that information, because he, himself, knows that White tigers are felines, and felines are cats. He has been afraid of cats since 80 years ago, and he felt that he had been afraid of cats longer than 80 years. Suddenly, he had a vague memory of something golden wrapped around him, wanting to save him from something.

The memory was so vague that he felt that it was just his mind playing tricks with him. He felt chill run up his spine, then he ran straight to take a bath.

Wei Xiao, on the other side of the house, sat expressionlessly while stuffing food inside his mouth. His mind was still in turmoil. The food he places on his mouth seems to be tasteless. He put down his chopsticks and sighs.

He lay his head low, not wanting to look ahead. And as he wallowed deep, three knocks came from the door.

"Xiao-er, it's Uncle." Qin Xuan's voice sounded from the other side of the door. His voice sounded calm, but god only knows that those in the know are silently panicking.

Wei Xiao stood to open the door. He soon saw his smiling uncle. His hair tied in a high ponytail, Clothes neatly arranged, but his eyes were in the midst of battle.

"Uncle." Wei Xiao greeted, bowing his head.

Qin Xuan waved his hand indicating him not to bow. "Have you eaten yet?"

Wei Xiao nodded. Then he thought about it and shook his head.

Qin Xuan snicker at the man's indecisive reply. "Is Qin Zuijia with you?"

Wei Xiao looked at him expressionlessly. "He seemed to be bathing."

Qin Xuan nodded. "En, the underground dungeon is really filthy. it's good to be clean."

    Wei Xiao nodded. "En."

Qin Xuan smiled brightly at his nephew. "Take good care of yourself, alright."

    Wei Xiao nodded.

They sat at the table filled with mountains of food. Barely any of them was touched. Much like Qin Zuijia, Qin Xuan felt his eyes twitch. 'He can't eat this much.'

"Xiao-er" Qin Xuan pushed the plate in front of him. "Have you thought of where to go later."

    "North?"

Qin Xuan nodded. "It is best to go up north, but traveling would last at least a month." He handed a jade seal to Wei Xiao. "Go find Bai Chenle. He lives in the east. He owes me a favor." He smiled at Wei Xiao.

Wei Xiao felt bitter. The smile that his family gives him felt painful, enough to carve his heart. Although he felt sad, He couldn't do anything. He was weak, against those cultivators from the major clans, he was weak.

"Also.." Qin Xuan patted his nephew in the shoulder. "Tell him that I won't be able to attend his birthday." He handed a jade drive to Wei Xiao. "This is a gift I made for him."

Wei Xiao took the jade drive and found that it was sealed with convoluted locks and patterns. Without the receiver, the information inside won't be read.

The table was filled with indescribable emotion. Wei Xiao, who was a big glutton, found himself unable to take a bite of his food. Qin Xuan wasn't much of an eater and only stare at the plate in front of him

Qin Zuijia came back from his bath and found the pair of uncle and nephew unable to take a bite of the mountain of food in front of them. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Due to the situation, he knew that the Qin clan's reign was about to end, but the scene in front of him was very comical.

He stepped forward and found that Qin Xuan was just staring at a plate. His expression shows helplessness mixed with fear and sorrow. Wei Xiao, though he shows a cold and indifferent expression on the outside, seemed to also feel frightened.

Qin Zuijia wanted to break the silence. And with a cough he said. "When are we leaving?"

Wei Xiao saw that he had come out of the bath and was already wearing his black clothing. He stood straight making his body look thin, but enchanting. His hair hangs loose to his side making him look unrestrained. The black clothes wrapped tightly around his waist. Adding in his playful and prideful temperament, he somewhat resembles a vixen.

He has Phoenix shaped eyes, and long eyelashes. His eyes were pure black, and as if stars lost their way in, they glimmered throughout.

Wei Xiao found himself relaxing just by looking at his eyes. They were beautiful, indeed they were a marvel to look at. He can't help but feel excited to travel with that person. But his face showed coldness, undisturbed.

Qin Xuan, on the other hand, smiled. "Would elder Qin join us for a meal?"

Qin Zuijia looked at the mountain of food and found that he wanted to retch. He patted his chest and shook his head. "Clan Leader, please spare me." He smiled helplessly at Qin Xuan.

The Qin family, whether they are from the main or branch family, has the tendency to eat less, most of the time they even forget to eat. Their metabolism is very slow, which enables them to go from one day to a week without eating, even then, they would only ask for a piece of bread.

The Wei family, however, are a family of gluttons. They grew up in the poorest part of the continent and their desire to eat is incredible. They would also prefer eating spicy food than mild or sweet. Their bodies are always warm, making them the perfect heater.

Though Wei Xiao's body is very warm, his temperament was cold. No one would think that this iceberg was in fact a kiln in the middle of a volcano.

Qin Xuan laughs at his helplessness. "Xiao-er seemed to have picked a lot of food. It would be a waste not to eat."

"The young master can eat everything. I have already been fed with porridge. I still feel full." He rubbed his stomach indicating that there aren't any more places to store food.

"Xiao-er and his older brother always eat too much." He sighed and added. "Sometimes I wonder if the clan finance would be enough to feed them."

Both Qins laughed. They found that bullying the glutton quite enjoyable.

Wei Xiao was still looking indifferent, but for some reason, he didn't want to eat.

Qin Zuijia laughed. "Young master Wei, It's alright to eat. I really don't want to eat."

"You were having a fever. You must eat to regain energy."

Qin Zuijia felt his forehead and neck. He found that it was still a little hot, because of that, he really didn't want to eat.

"Be good and eat." Wei Xiao added as if coaxing a child.

Qin Zuijia didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He found Wei Xiao's parenting a bit cute. "Not hungry."

"Elder Qin has a fever?" Qin Xuan stared at Qin Zuijia.

Qin Zuijia nodded. "It isn't that bad. My nose hasn't bled yet." He said that as if it was the norm.

Qin Xuan, unexpectedly, nodded. "It's good then. You don't need to eat more medicine."

    Both Qin nodded.

Wei Xiao looked at those two and felt that he didn't belong in this place. They had a tacit understanding of each other, as if they knew each other for a long time. He felt that his presence was awkward. He bowed his head, not wanting to speak. Then, he remembered what day today was.

Chapter 7: Parting is such a sweet sorrow
The two Qins talked till noon. Wei Xiao made his way into his bedroom to pack his clothes. He left all his white clan uniform and brought three sets of black clothes. He chose to buy clothes outside so no one would think that he was from the Qin Clan. He brought a pair of black boots, designed with the Qin clan sigil. Though the design was there, they were inconspicuous.

He looked around for a brocade box under his bed and found that it was covered with dust. He reaches in and grabs the box, pulling it to his side and patting away the dust. Wei Xiao stares at the box, unaware of what emotion he should feel. He opened it and looked at the white fan lying inside.

For thousands of years, this fan has been unused by its owner. Not because it was broken, but because it sealed itself. No matter how much they try and open it, the fan remains unmoved. They should have been placed in the Clan's treasury, but Wei Xiao proposed that he should take care of it and maybe find out why the fan was sealed or if he could unseal it. But no matter how he tries, the fan would never open up.

Hearing his name being called by his uncle, Wei Xiao packed away the fan and box, placing them inside his lapels. He walked slowly towards his uncle and saw that aside from the two Qins, his brother and nephew were there as well.

    Something suddenly squeezed his chest.

    His heart thumped.

He bit his lip, trying to fight paint with more pain. Though it was useless, he still felt that he should do so.

He walked towards his brother, facing the other with his usual cold temperament. Though his thoughts were in turmoil.

Wei Xiayu placed his hand on Wei Xiao's shoulder. He smiled at the other. Warm. Safe. Tranquil. "Don't be afraid. Things will be alright."

Wei Xiao felt his heart sunk. Though the other said such comforting words, he can't help but be frightened.

Seeing his expression, Wei Xiayu noticed that his words weren't quite right. He laughed at the other. "What's with that face?" He maintains his serene and calm self. He knew that if he were to break now, nothing good would come next.

Wei Xiao's mind was in turmoil. He knew that the expression on his brother's face was fake. It was easy for him to understand the words that were spoken were not the words that were meant. His brother was keeping his call for his sake. Though he felt so little, he couldn't do anything else.

He found it rather comical how the world they live in relies on power to survive. Then what would happen if one fell from grace... they would be killed or outcast, hated or feared. But what if you are weak? You will be robbed of what is yours and no one would think it's horrible, they would even think that this was only right.

With those thoughts in mind, Wei Xiao turned his head to look at Qin Zuijia. The man fell from grace. He was once the pride of his family and the idol of mages from all over the Wolf bane continent. He had his own garden, he had the best equipment and the treatment towards him was above anyone else. But the moment that he did something wrong, he became the villain. Hated. Feared. Coveted against. The people who used to fawn over him, bow spit on his way. To them, he was the disgusting villain that should have never existed... But if he never existed, then who would bring them hundreds of different pill recipes that no one would be able to find nor make.

Wei Xiao hated Qin Zuijia's way of revenge, but he understood the other. He was pushed onto the corner, forced to maintain his aloof and domineering attitude that makes people both fear and love him. But the person he sees now was the real him. Warm. Awkward. Filled with flaws and imperfections. If it wasn't for the fact that he met him, he wouldn't believe that the Qin Zuijia in front of him was the same Qin Zuijia from the words of the elders and those who knew him.

Wei Xiao turned his gaze back to his brother who still had a smile on his face. Now that the Qin Clan is weak, they would experience the worst of the worst. Their names would be ruined, dirtied even further, and will be blamed for the crimes they never committed. They would be killed and hated and feared regardless of what the truth was.

He couldn't help but clutch his chest. It pains him to say goodbye to the people he loved and cared about. But all he could do was follow orders. And maybe one day he would be able to see the sun rise again.

As he pondered over what he should do after leaving the clan, Xiao Ling, who was sitting atop of Qin Zuijia's lap, started to cry. No one knew if it was because he understood the situation or about something else.

In fact, Xiao Ling didn't really understand the facts, but he felt that something he loves would be taken away from him at any moment. He didn't understand why his father's smile suddenly made him sad, nor was his uncle's usual cold face that he always loved, suddenly making him want to cry. He felt a bad premonition come to him, but he didn't understand what it was, he could only cry to pacify the weird feeling, brewing from inside of him.

To the sudden outburst of emotion from the little child in his arms, Qin Zuijia felt panic all over. He was extremely careful to not move so much so to not make the child uncomfortable. He even sucks in his breath so he won't feel panicky and suddenly push the child. Now, he felt discombobulated and afraid. He started questioning things that should be common sense. 'who am I?' ' what am I doing here?' 'What's the square root of 144?' and all things he should be able to answer without thinking too much.

He wanted to cry as well.

Seeing his awkward appearance, Qin Xuan snickers.

Wei Xiayu's fake smile turned into a real one.

Wei Xiao maintained his usual cold appearance, but deep down he asked himself. ' Has his eyes always been this black?'.

With someone breaking the icy atmosphere, Xiao Ling finally stopped crying. He turned his gaze towards Qin Zuijia.

The other still looks as if he was about to fall apart. But Xiao Ling kissed his cheek and said good night. Then he hugged Qin Zuijia, snuggling in his embrace.

The dumbstruck Qin Zuijia tensed up and looked at the people around him with inquiring eyes.

Qin Xuan laughed. "Seems like Xiao Ling likes you. This is good."

Wei Xiayu nodded. "This way we won't have to coax him to follow Qin Zuijia."

Wei Xiao remained silent. He was happy about Xiao Ling accepting Qin Zuijia, this way their travel would be with ease. But the amount of pressure that still exists in his mind made him think that leaving was such a bad idea.

He had no choice in this matter. If he stays he dies, if he leaves he survives, but for how long?

    ______________________

When night fell and the moon was at its peak. Qin Zuijia and co. entered the carriage that would deliver them to the nearest city. Then, the plan was to hide, go visit Bai Chanle, and hide again. Though it seemed rather simple, hiding was very difficult. With the power of the four great clans searching for them, they would take less than a day to find them.

The carriage was used to export and import medicinal herbs and tonic from other cities, this was how the clans established connection to other cities and also bring back things that they haven't seen to research.

The carriage was small and inconspicuous. And because the two have already hidden their presence quite well, the carriage looks just like any normal carriage containing tonics and herbs.

Qin Xuan and Wei Xiayu knocked on the door of the carriage and whispered.

"Once you've reached Willow City, change your identities and hide. Once you have rested, leave immediately."

Qin Xuan took out a green brocade pouch from his lapels. "Here are the rest of the Qin Clans riches. The elders have already given everything they have to give." He pressed the pouch onto Qin Zuijia's hand. "Senior, I have to trouble you to keep an eye out for the money inside to pouch. Don't let Xiao-er spend so much, and don't indulge Xiao Ling with toys." He said earnestly that it seemed comical.

    "Good luck and be safe."

The carriage drove off to the next city carrying three people, tonics and herbs.

As if surprised, Qin Xuan turned his gaze towards the bush that didn't seem to hide anyone. He can't help but feel uneasy. He thought for sure that he saw a short man clad in black, staring at where the carriage had gone off to.

He felt uneasy, but he also thought that no one would be stalking them to the point of wanting to see them see off their own products. He threw the feeling to the back of his head and went back inside.

Moments later, a short and thin man came out from the bush and followed the carriage. Following him were ten cloaked men.

Chapter 8: The old ladies inn (pt.1)
When the three arrived at Willow City two days after, the news that the famous Qin Clan coveted the Devil ran throughout the Wolf bane continent. It was said that the head of the clan was blinded by power and went to learn the dark arts as well. Several mouths added fuel to the fire by saying that the Qin Clan wasn't a very clean clan in the beginning, that the moment the last of the original family died, the branch family were overjoyed and took over. Some people were doubtful of the news, but they were few.

Then, news that the four great clans had decided to clean the Qin Clan of its evil doing made people think that the Qin Clan was indeed of the devil and should be 'cleaned'.

Wei Xiao was still feeling under the weather. He found the rumours painful. He knew that his family was pure and has never done anything evil of some sorts. But people believe that where there's smoke there's fire. And because the Qin Clan has been at the top of the people, they felt frightened and wanted to chase away the things that made them feel that way.

The three found an inn which was not bad nor was it too extravagant. This was because Qin Zuijia was afraid of spending the money that was given to him. In fact, at first he chose the cheapest inn to stay; the floors creaked with just a single step, the wall leaked, and the whole place smelled like something had died in there. In short, the inn looks more like a haunted house than a place to sleep. Xiao Ling was the first to decline.

The next inn they visited was the second cheapest inn. If it wasn't for the sign, they would think that the inn was a brothel. The whole place was covered in intoxicatingly disgusting perfume. Women with chest as big as watermelons serve the guest and basically only single dogs would come there. Wei Xiao declined.

Then, they went to the third cheapest inn. The inn takes in mostly mothers and children. The whole place was warm and kind. The workers were old ladies with experience in taking care of children and pregnant women. On top of that their dishes were delicious to the point of wanting more and more food, even Qin Zuijia who doesn't eat much wanted to gobble up the entire plate.

So the three tactfully chose this inn which wasn't that bad and too extravagant.

They rang the bell to call in the boss to reserve a room. The owner was an old woman about seventy years old. She was beaming with old age but that doesn't stop her from working. She had a smile on her face that made children feel at ease. Xiao Ling likes her kind smile and wanted to give her a hug.

Sensing the boy's intention, the owner opened her arms and hugged Xiao Ling. "Aiya! This little man is so handsome, is he your child, young lord?" The owner asked.

Qin Zuijia smiled awkwardly and said. "He's our nephew, the son of his brother." He pointed at Wei Xiao.

The owner looked at Wei Xiao and back at Qin Zuijia. And as if enlightened, she giggled. "Of course, of course. Don't worry, young lords, we here don't discriminate."

Both Wei Xiao and Qin Zuijia were confused with what the owner was not discriminating about. 'are people here disgusted with uncles and nephews?'

Though they were confused, they still nodded and smiled.

The owner laughed heartily, giving them a key to a room. She beckoned on the other old lady to show them their room.

Once the three went in the room, they couldn't keep themselves from asking.

"Why just one room?" Wei Xiao asked.

"They probably don't have anymore." Qin Zuijia replied. "They didn't even ask us how many rooms we needed."

Wei Xiao looked at the bed that could only fit one person. right next to it was a crib. The crib wouldn't be able to fit a two-year-old-baby-that-looks-like-dumpling. The three had to squeeze in a single bed.

"How about I sleep on the floor?" Qin Zuijia asked. "This way, you'll be able to sleep with Xiao Ling in bed."

Seeing as the other was refusing to agree, he added another sentence. "Then you could sleep on the floor tomorrow and I would sleep in the bed with Xiao Ling?"

Wei Xiao flatly refused, "You sleep in the bed, I'll keep watch."

"How about I keep watch inste-" Before he finished speaking, Wei Xiao interrupted.

"I'm keeping a watch on you. Don't think that I'm keeping a watch on a sudden intruder." His voice was cold like ice, but they were a bit shaky.

Qin Zuijia didn't notice the shakiness of his voice, and focused on what he said. It does sound more logical to keep a watch on himself than others, I mean, He is the villain that people feared. Thus he threw everything to the back of his head.

Qin Zuijia didn't know how he should reply to Wei Xiao. He scratched his head turning left to right, and sighing. He cleared his throat and laughed.

Xiao Ling ran towards the bed. He patted the dust away and looked at his uncle. "Uncle will keep watch. " He pointed at Wei Xiao, then turned to Qin Zuijia. "Pretty Uncle will sleep with Xiao Ling!" He pointed at Qin Zuijia.

Qin Zuijia didn't know whether to laugh or cry in front of the little baby that had declared his intentions. He looked at Wei Xiao and cleared his throat. "Then we'll do just that."

Wei Xiao nodded and proceeded to meditate in a corner.

Qin Zuijia walked towards Xiao Ling. "Little Ling, I'll be bothering you to sleep with me tonight."

Xiao Ling smiled. "Pretty uncle can always sleep with me."

Qin Zuijia rubbed the boy's head and nodded.

    _______________

At twilight, the one of the elder ladies that work in the inn came knocking at the door.

"Young masters, I've brought you dinner." She said. Her voice doesn't sound too old, but the shakiness and hoarseness can still be heard.

Qin Zuijia was sitting at the bed, stroking Xiao Ling's cheeks. He looked at Wei Xiao, Who was still meditating, and stood to open the door.

"Hello, We've troubled you." He said apologetically.

The old woman laughed. "Nonsense! This old lady can still do hard labor!" She said exaggeratedly, raising her chin which was already saggy and loose.

Qin Zuijia laughed and took the tray from the woman. "Thank you."

The lady patted his shoulders. "Nothing this olde woman can't do. This young master is such a beauty, how can I be troubled."

    Qin Zuijia laughed

When the lady went back, he closed the doors.

Qin Zuijia examined the food in the tray. There were three servings of vegetables each and three bowls of meat. He couldn't figure out what kind of meat was in the bowl since it was sliced in cubes. For him, eating cows meat was rather disgusting. He was fine eating pig and chicken, but beef was over the line. His eyes fixed on the bowl with his portion of meat as if trying to find any type of information that would help him deduce whether it was something he can eat or not.

He chose to eat the vegetables instead and leave all the meat to the gluttons who he came in with.

When Xiao Ling smelled the food, he immediately stood up and looked at the tray longingly.

Qin Zuijia gave the child his portion of meat. He turns to Wei Xiao, who now has his eyes open, raising his brows as if questioning him.

Qin Zuijia, of course, understood what the other was implying. "I don't have the same appetite as you, I could just give my portion to him."

Wei Xiao nodded. "Next time don't let him eat too much." He stopped for a moment before adding. "Give the rest to me if you can't eat it, don't give it to Xiao Ling, he's already too fat."

In the end he just wanted to eat more to satisfy his hunger.

Chapter 9- The old ladies' inn (pt.2)
In the middle of the night, when the moon is at its peak, Screams and cries of children rang across the entire city. Every door was locked, every window barricaded, but the sounds never died out.

In Willow City, there is a legend of a woman losing her child. This was a mysterious legend that gave fame to the city. But legends aren't always real...right?

The legend tells of a beautiful woman whose eyes were blue and skin was a white as jade. Her lips were of the brightest shade of red and her hair was like silk that flew with the wind. She came from a far away land and decided to stay at Willow city with his husband and child for the night. With the scarcity of their money they choose to stay at the cheapest inn in the city.

The inn was filled with beautiful young women, elegant and warm. Their face was always adorned with a smile and with one look, you would feel at home. So, the couple and child decided that this was a good choice.

Aside from the great atmosphere of the place, the inn was also filled with mothers and children.

When night came, One of the women knocked on their door. "Miss and sir, I've brought you dinner."

The husband opened the door and welcomed the woman in. "We've troubled you." He said with a sigh.

The woman laughs. "With such beauty right in front of me, how could I be troubled. This young master is so lucky to have such a beautiful wife."

The man smiled at the girl. He agreed with the other's comment and looked at his wife. "She is indeed a beauty, and our child is cute as well!" He boasted.

    "I agree." said the girl.

The next day, the couple woke up and found that their child went missing. They felt that their sleep was very deep and they didn't notice just how their child disappeared.

It was possible that the child would have stood up on his own, because there were no signs of anyone braking in. The two began to panic and ran outside, only to find that the inn they stayed in now turned into a small shack in the middle of the woods.

The shack was familiar to them, very familiar. They have seen this shack before. It was where they used to live before they had a child.

The first thing he felt was fear. then confusion. doubt. revelation. then back to fear.

'What if all of that was a dream?' She thought to herself.

She turned to his husband, who was now looking at her with confusion. Then his fear seemed to deepen.

    'Everything was just a dream.'

The woman walked hand-in-hand with her husband and seemed to still feel doubt. The times that she spent with his child felt so true that it would be more unbelievable if it was just a dream. She knew how his hair felt like when brushed, how his cheeks burn when teased, how his lips curve when he smiles. The times they spent together was her greatest treasure. But bow, life was telling her that it was nothing more than an illusion.

As a mother, losing your child was painful to the point of wanting to die as well. But she was a cultivator, her mind was strong which was why she knew that her child existed or at the very least, existed.

She sprinted towards Willow City. But what she faced was not the inn they went into that night, but a small house.

She had heard of the stories circulating the whole City. The sounds of children crying and screaming in the middle of the night. She was afraid that her child might have become one of the children who screamed and cried. She, as a mother, wouldn't be able to take it.

So, when faced with the black wooden door, she kicked it so hard that it flew backwards.

    The house was empty.

    The cries and screams started.

    Got louder and louder.

But no children can be seen.

    The house was empty.

When morning came, the people who lived in the City found a woman's body laying in front of the inn. She was beautiful. Her eyes were blue, but now empty sockets and her jade skin was no longer there. Her red lips were cut and her long silk hair now was just a bald scalp.

Her body laid on a pool of blood. No one can recognize the body. except for her husband, who kneeled in front of his dead wife. Their child was still missing and their family was now gone.

    _______

Indeed the legend was true. But the inn was no longer the same as before, for the women that worked there were now old.

The women who worked in the inn were envious of other people's beauty. They set a bait for their target and let that person come to them.

The first thing they did was mix sleeping potion with the meat. Because of the seasoning, no one would notice anything wrong. Once their target and company fell into a deep sleep, they would capture the other's most important person and make them think that such a person never existed. This would force them to doubt themselves and check if what they think was true. And in the middle of the night, they would attack.

    or

Qin Zuijia looked down from the tree that was his presence, as he watched the old ladies bring Xiao Ling to the black room. He knew that he was the target of these women the moment he saw the intent in the other's eyes. But because the inn was cheap, he chose to still stay. If he has known that the one they would take as a bait was the little boy, he wouldn't have felt bad for spending more money.

Just as he was cursing himself for being an idiot, a hand suddenly grabbed his shoulders.

He felt chill run up his spine. He started praying for all the Gods he knew and apologizing for everything he had ever done. He chanted sutras and praised the lords above. This all happens in the span of mere seconds.

"What are we going to do?" A deep and cold voice made Qin Zuijia feel dizzy and afraid. He knew that this was now Wei Xiao, but the fact that the other woke up even when he ate the meat laced with sleeping potion was frightening.

"How-" Qun Zuijia hasn't finished asking when Wei Xiao covered his mouth.

"I'll tell you when we're done."

They stayed unmoving for a moment and watched as the ladies peel out their skins.

"Aiya!" exclaimed one of the ladies. "With how beautiful his skin is, I really wanted to peel it off!" She said clutching her chest?

The woman who had peeled off her skin, now looked like black smoke. But with one look they could tell that it was an existence and not just imagination. The place where the eyes should be was glowing red and the smoke mode as if it still had its body.

"Don't just casually throw your skin to the side." another woman rapped the smoke, though her hand just passed by her. "Getting a younger and beautiful skin is hard!"

The smoke humphed. "We have new skin laying in that room, why do I have to wear such ugly skin?"

"Who told you you could have his skin?" The other woman exclaimed. "I obviously have more power, I should have that skin!"

"I've already peeled off that disgusting skin, I get to have this one!"

"I have been using this skin for eighty year. you got that woman's skin, why fight against me!?"

"The skin isn't as beautiful as this one. I want the best!"

While the two were fighting, another person pushed open the door of the black room.

She had a very delicate face that gave off a feeling of goodwill. Her eyes were of peach blossoms and her lips bright red. She was clad in pink and was covered with intoxicating perfume. She had an aura that made one want to bow down and kneel, but also make others want to push her down and make her moan.

When she stepped outside of the room, she swept her glance from the black smoke woman to the other. Her lips raised in ridicule.

"My my. You two are always fighting for a new skin." She said coquettishly. She played with a strand of her hair as she laughed at the two women.

Her voice sounded like a temptress, and her words provocative, but the two women were stupefied. One person and one smoke stiffen as their eyes look at the beautiful woman in front of them.

"Ah! Saint! We were just arguing who the beautiful skin will belong to." The one with the human skin said.

"Yes! I have already taken off that ugly piece of skin and this one still said that that skin should be her's!" She said in contempt. Judging by how she speaks to the woman, she should have been spoiled by her.

"Then if Xiao Jiu wants the skin, why take it?" Sure enough the woman took her side.

The other woman was fuming with rage, but her face remained fearful and fawning. One has to know not to fight against giants when you were but a mere dog. She chose to step back even if she felt angry. What could she do against the Saint and her toy, she should just stay back and watch as the saint let her have everything she wanted, but end up losing everything later on.

With those thoughts in mind, the woman was put at ease.

When the women left to go find their prey, Wei Xiao and Qin Zuijia leaped out of the tree. They looked at the black room which was locked with spells and incantations. To mortals, this lock would be impossible to break, but to Wei Xiao, he would only need a few minutes to unlock it.

When the door opened, what they saw was darkness. To be precise, the room was so dark that it would be hard to even look at your own hand. Aside from the obvious darkness, the room was the scent of black opium. Its sweetness was overwhelming to one's nose. The sticky yet fragrant. It was intoxicating, but not so much.

When the two walk inside, the scent becomes rather weird. The sweet scent was assaulted by a musky smell of rotting flesh. Qin Zuijia wanted to retch. Hiding a horrible smell with a wonderful one would just make it worse. He covered his mouth and looked to where the smell was more rancid. However, the room was still too dark to see.

He stepped one to the direction of the smell, but found a soft object under his feet.

Qin Zuijia froze in fright. The smell of rotting flesh could either be of human or animal, he wanted to believe it was the latter. So, in order not to make himself vomit, He recited several sutras in his mind. But every time he does so, he'd feel his head hurt. 'Who told a demon cultivator to recite sutras?' might as well bathe in lava.

Wei Xiao followed closely, but was still unable to find where the other was. He spoke in a rather low and quiet voice. "We should stick closer together."

His word brush passed Qin Zuijia's ears, making him shiver. He uncharacteristically bends his body, shaking. "Could... you ...not talk.. like that."

Wei Xiao stared at the other, though he couldn't see him, he knew that the other was already too frightened to move. Then, an idea came to Wei Xiao.

Seconds later, the sound of a man/woman/banshee was heard in the black room. When examined closely, one would find that the one who screamed was a man whose face was already white as paper, and was named Qin Zuijia.

Wei Xiao, the man who just put a hand on the other's shoulder, remained cold and aloof on the outside, but inwardly trying his best not to say anything that would make the other lose face. The man with him was the villain that was feared by thousands, if they found out that said person is afraid of ghosts, people would be surprised. A demon cultivator who is afraid of ghosts, one would find it rather amusing and hard to believe.

That isn't the only thing that was weird with the idea. Because cultivators would inevitably encounter ghosts, demons and other creatures, what's more is that even the youngest cultivator wouldn't react as afraid as Qin Zuijia in the black room. It was rather humorous and unbelievable.

Wei Xiao retracted his hand from the other and coughed. "You...Are you afraid of ghos-"

    "Not that!"

Before Wei Xiao finished his words Qin Zuijia retorted.

"I'm not afraid of ghosts, I'm afraid of what I can't see." Qin Zuijia said, trying his best not to sound like a dying mouse "Ghosts are everywhere, and things like that can be seen to people like us, but right now." He waved his hands everywhere. "One of my senses lost its function."

Wei Xiao didn't believe that Qin Zuijia would be totally blind in the black room, but then he remembered that the other seemed to have damaged his soul, and his spiritual energy failed to flow. He won't be able to sense anything with his soul, so he has to rely on his own body.

Wei Xiao felt sympathetic towards Qin Zuijia. As a cultivator, One has to feel the Qi flow in their meridians to be able to control all senses that not mere mortals can. But Qin Zuijia has damaged his dantian and is unable to make his Qi flow. He was no more than a human.

With that, the two proceed to walk hand in hand.

Qin Zuijia was still frightened to notice anything, but Wei Xiao was already feeling rather giddy. He found that the other has very slender fingers and his hands aren't as rough as his, to be precise, his hands were smooth and soft, not at all like other cultivators. Even if he was a mage, Qin Zuijia's hands were very smooth. Some images have rough hands, others have smooth hands, but they were rather compact, as if filled with muscles.

Wei Xiao held Qin Zuijia's hand as they made their way toward the rancid smell. One was shivering, the other was ice cold.

In the location of the smell, they saw a faint light. A boy was hanging from the ceiling, dripping wet with blood.

Chapter 10: The old ladies inn (pt. 3)
The boy's neck was bound with immortal binding rope, and his body seemed to emit a faint glow. The boy should be about 15-16 year of age. His slender leg was tied by another rope and his arms were missing. One had to look no further to figure out where the rancid smell came from. The boy is obviously dead, but his spirit was still in his body, unable to leave to the underworld.

As if noticing their arrival, the boy lifted up his face.

Broken. bruised. filled with mucus and bugs. Yellow puss was dripping from his seven orifices. The boy looked horrible to the point of making one vomit.

"Are you here to find the little kid?" He spoke rather hoarsely. He smiled and added. "The little baby is safe, but you both should hurry. The old women found out that you weren't in your rooms."

"Where is he?" Wei Xiao said.

The boy turned his head to meet the cold and fierce gaze of Wei Xiao. He laughed and said. "The screaming children are taking care of him." He seemed amused as he swung his body side to side. "Kill the old women and the screaming children will give you the boy."

"Who are the screaming children?" Qin Zuijia asked.

He has heard from the other people about nights when several children's cries and screams assault the ears of the people, but no one has a clear idea on who or what those screaming children are.

"They are the screaming children. There is no more to explain." The boy said as he smiled smugly.

Qin Zuijia felt that the boy was incredibly unreliable. They could kill the old women, but they aren't sure whether or not the screaming children would return Xiao Ling to them.

Sensing his uncertainty, the boy then laughed. "The screaming children are trustworthy. If you both are able to destroy the old women, the screaming children would return the baby. If not." He smiled as if pleased with himself. "another member will be added to the screaming children."

The two now know a little bit of information about the screaming children. The boy wasn't safeguarding his words. It was as if he was telling them information without looking as if he was biased.

"How do we kill the old women?" Wei Xiao asked.

"We aren't sure just what kind of entity those women are." Qin Zuijia ponders. "It's possible that they are ghosts or demons, but they could also be demonic practitioners."

"Even this one doesn't know." The boy hangs languidly. The swaying of his body declines. "I have only seen them with human faces, sometimes they would peel those skin off and expose their smoke like body."

Qin Zuijia knew already of these facts. He saw how one of the women peeled off the skin she was wearing and turned into black smoke.

Although ghost, demons, and demonic practitioners may sound similar to the untrained mind, they are actually very different. A ghost is formed when the spirit separates from the body and is unable to follow the flow of reincarnation, for their corporal body hasn't yet been burned. Another way was for a soul to refuse reincarnation. The former was rather kind in nature, while the latter seemed sinister.

Ghosts are more powerful than humans. They are able to have abilities regardless of whether they practiced cultivation or not. But the only downside to it is that one cannot ascend to godhood if they are ghosts.

Demons are those who were created from dark energy. For example, a piece of paper. The paper is only a thing without life, but if thousands of deep demonic energy flows around them, the paper would start to have it's own consciousness. Again, demons aren't necessarily evil. With proper training they'll be a good companion.

Lastly there are demonic cultivators. These cultivators are considered unorthodox and should not be taught to children, but there are still people who practice such cultivation because of its fast results. The only downside is that it damages the soul and body. Qi deviation is more likely to happen and only the destruction of the body can save the soul.

Qin Zuijia thought it over and over. They could be loose immortals who have lost their bodies and exist only in spirit form, but with how low their level is, he dispel the idea.

Then, he remembered hearing one of them call the young woman 'Saint'.

"Do you think that they could be from the ghost realm?" Qin Zuijia turned to Wei Xiao.

"It is possible, but I do not know the hierarchy of ghosts." Wei Xiao answered.

The two of them were deep in thought when a sudden flash of realization came to them.

"Kid!" Qin Zuijia called. "Could there be saints in the Ghost hierarchy?"

The boy thought about it. He shook his head once then nodded next.

"There is a saint in the Ghost realm, but he's the Ghost King's lover." He said. "And I have heard that he was reincarnated already."

Although they do not understand the issues pertaining in the ghost realm, they still feel like their gossip about a very dangerous topic.

"If that woman says she's the saint, then I'll have to light a candle for her." The boy continued.

It was possible for them to be ghosts. With that in thought, Wei Xiao and Qin Zuijia planned to attack.

In a very bright room, Xiao Ling was playing with several toys while more than twenty children looked at him in fascination. Xiao Ling was the fattest kid inside the room. His face was very round and his two hands were soft and squishy. The boy seems to be enjoying the toys in front of him, frequently asking the others if they wanted to play as well.

Compared to the thin, tattered clothes, and dirty children in the room, Xiao Ling looks like a Jade laughing Buddha. One would feel that rubbing his belly would bring them good luck.

    Then they did.

Xiao Ling was tickled. He laughed joyfully, fulfilling his job as a baby laughing Buddha.

Several minutes of being tickled and rubbed, the room started to shake. It seems as though a battle was happening outside.

    __________

Wei Xiao set up an array to trap the 'Saint' and tried to kill her off with that. Who would have thought that she would break away and fiercely pounce onto Wei Xiao.

Her long and sharp fingernails were nearing her target, when a metal rod was swung in her direction.

On Qin Zuijia's hand is a metal rod which he found lying on the floor. It was covered with blood from who knows what. Holding the object, Qin Zuijia was slightly disgusted, and mostly frightened. The blood could be from one of his peers.

The woman fumed. His face flushed red and smoke seemed to come out on top of his head. She showed Qin Zuijia her sharp claws and attacked. Her momentum was very fast. If it wasn't for the fact that Wei Xiao is a cultivator, then they would have died right then and there.

When the woman changed directions, Wei Xiao called out his sword, enveloping it with his own spiritual energy.

The sword glowed bright blue, a contrast to the dark room they were in. It was a double-edged sword which was forged by the masters of Qin Clan. It was a well known sword in the Southern part of the Wolf bane continent for it's owner was a genius among their generation.

The sword scratched her cheeks and turned to attack again. The sound of two metals colliding reverberated all over the room.

The woman's claw-like fingers were as hard as metal, cold and fierce. In order not to get hit in the face, she used both hands to meet the sword. She swoop left, trying to hit the sword, but the sword cut down straight, slashing her face.

The woman growled in anger, and her long fingernails seemed to emit dark smoke.

Wei Xiao controlled the sword from afar, and was trying to fight off a set of old women who was trying to stop him.

"Aiya! a gentleman wouldn't hurt an old lady wound yo-"

She spoke and was punched on the face by Wei Xiao.

"I apologise, but there's something more important to me than manners."

Then, he proceeds to beat the hell of the woman, leaving her at death's door.

The sword he was manipulating continued to assault the 'Saint'. With every cut makes her face more and more unsightly. She cursed and yelled at Wei Xiao.

"YOU THINK THAT THIS MERE SWORD COULD KILL ME!!" she said so, then she shed her skin, turning into a dark smoke.

If Wei Xiao was able to cut her human body with his sword then his guqin can distort his soul.

One second and a shining blue sword was attacking her, next was a powerful tone that made her whole spirit shake. The black smoke shoots it's body, trying to get out from the instrument's assaults. He found that her whole soul was binded to the ground unable to move. A frightening premonition came to her.She stared frightened at the man in front of him.

"Are you from the Qin Clan!?" She asked.

Wei Xiao remained silent. Though his silence only gave the woman an answer.

She slumped down, and the black smoke covering her body disappeared. The small girl's body remained trembling in a corner obviously frightened.

"You...you.." She pointed at Wei Xiao. "How!?...You should have died eighty years ago!" She shouted.

He shook her head vigorously trying to make herself believe. "The Qins are supposed to die 80 years ago!!"

Wei Xiao knotted his brows as he looked towards the girl who was trembling in fright. "What do you mean?"

It must be said that if somebody told you that your family should have been extinguished a long time ago, one would feel wronged. But with how the girl spoke, he felt that something wasn't right.

He turns to look at Qin Zuijia who also has a confused look on his face.

"The King deemed that the Qin Clan is dead. Why...why?...wha-" She stammers as tears started to flow from her eyes. Inevitably, mucus also escaped from her nose. Her cheeks were flushed red, and her lips were already bitten to the point of bleeding.

"Who is this King?" Wei Xiao asked.

The girl shook her head. "I'm afraid.... I'm afraid that if I told you...." She stops and shivers. "He'd destroy my soul completely."

Wei Xiao hid his guqin and unsheathed his sword. He pointed the tip towards her. "I'll send you to the underworld to follow the path to reincarnation."

The girl looked at him with glittering eyes, as if he was her benefactor or father.

But then her joy was shattered by the words of the boy who was hanging on the ceiling.

"Young master!" The boy shouts. "You are supposed to destroy her whole soul and be unable to reincarnate. Then the screaming children would return the baby!"

Wei Xiao stopped on his tracks and turned to the boy.

"The screaming children wanted them to be unable to reincarnate."

Wei Xiao nodded and turned back to the woman.

The woman was now shivering violently. Her eyes continued to produce tears. She begged Wei Xiao again and again.

"Please young master!! don't do it..." She cried.

"Give me a reason why not to." Wei Xiao said.

The woman stopped and thought. "I could warm your bed!"

But this only made Wei Xiao more hateful of her. 'What warm his bed!' an ice cold man having a warm bed would thaw him out.

Qin Zuijia couldn't help but laugh. With Wei Xiao's face and attitude, the topics regarding what happens in bed are things that he finds disgusting and inhumane? That girl just offered to warm his bed, how would he react.

of course, Wei Xiao's face turned dark as he stared at the girl.

One thing that is very common amongst the Qin Clan geniuses, Love is something they do not fully understand. Even Qin Zuijia who has lived for over a hundred years was still a baby when it came to this thing called love. And anything that happens under the sheets is just frightening to him.

But Qin Zuijia found the situation rather amusing. Wei Xiao wanted to end this woman's life once and for all.

"Wait!" Qin Zuijia coughed to cover his laughter. "Lets milk information out of her first!" He said as he walked towards the woman.

Now, the woman saw that the person who she almost bruised was Qin Zuijia. She cried more and more.

    "Please master Qin! Forgive me!!"

Now something feels off with her words. How could she know who Qin Zuijia is? Is he that famous, even ghosts know his name? Well, the answer would be yes.

Wei Xiao looked at Qin Zuijia. "What are you going to do?"

Qin Zuijia replied by smiling with a smile that was not a smile at the girl. "Tell me. Who is the Ghost King?"

    Chapter 11- Ghost King

The Ghost King is the ruler of the underworld. This is a very known information to everyone in the cultivation world.

The Ghost King was also called The Grim Reaper by other people. He is the one responsible in managing the souls of the dead and chooses where and when they reincarnate. To the common folks, he's a God. To cultivators, he's an idol. But to Immortal Cultivators... Well... He's their greatest obstacle in ascending to a higher realm.

To cultivators, it is natural to idolize a powerful being and maybe be envious of him, but if they knew that he would be the reason why a lot of Nascent soul stage cultivators aren't able to to ascend to the higher realm, they would hate him and curse him.

No one knew why he did so. Some people think that it was because he was afraid of having someone that can stand on the same stage as him. Some say that he was just bored. Other's think that Humanity has angered him. But no one knew the truth.

The appearance of the Great Ghost King was said to be Grim. On his right side was a man who was about 20 years old, and was considered the most beautiful person in the world. An ethereal fairy who looks as if he isn't stained with earthly desires. His long silver hair shines - a stark contrast to the said grim Ghost King. The two are inseparable, but people doubt if the young man really loves the Ghost King or if he was only using him. Regardless, they would not care.

The girl refuses to tell more than the information known to all. She shook her head and cried. "PLEASE JUST KILL ME!!"

Wei Xiao didn't understand why Qin Zuijia wanted to know more information about the Ghost King. Even if they knew, they wouldn't be able to use it. They can't blackmail the Ghost King, nor can they get to his good side. It would even be a surprise if they were able to get a glimpse of the man, but that wouldn't even help them escape.

Wei Xiao looked at Qin Zuijia as if he was looking at a child trying to fit a ball in a triangular hole. "What do you want to know from her?"

Qin Zuijia looked at Wei Xiao and smiled. "The Ghost King sounds interesting." It was a good answer, but it didn't dispel Wei Xiao's doubt.

The girl cried until she could no longer do so. Then, Qin Zuijia asked again. "Who is the Ghost King?"

The woman trembles. "I don't know..I.. I don't...Please let me go.... I promise I won't do this again." She stammers.

    "Who is the Ghost King?"

    Qin Zuijia refuses to fold.

The girl continued to shake her head. They know that she knows more about the Ghost King, but refuses to say it.

Wei Xiao really didn't care about the Ghost King, but the other seemed to be set on knowing. He didn't interfere, nor did he help. At this moment he was thinking of how to destroy the woman.

He looked at the boy who was hanging and the ceiling, smiling. The boy noticed his stare and his smile became brighter. "Am I handsome?"

A snot filled, broken, puss polluted face. If that is handsome, then what is ugly?

Wei Xiao stared at the boy. "Is the baby alright?"

The boy laughed. "I asked you first!"

    "No."

The boy laughed even harder. His body swung back and forth as snot continued to flow down. "The baby is fine. The screaming children are treating him like he's a laughing Buddha."

    "They're rubbing his stomach?"

    The boy nodded.

Wei Xiao thought that it would be a very adorable scene.

    ______________

In the brightly lit room, The screaming children were rubbing the stomach of the Jade Laughing Buddha. They felt that the baby's tummy was incredibly soft and smooth.

No one would think that it was weird for children to be fond of a very beautiful baby.

The children were already set on having the baby stay with them. Little did they know that that would only be a dream.

    _____________

Qin Zuijia was still interrogating the girl when he felt something off. The ground seemed to shake. He turns to Wei Xiao, but the other doesn't seem to notice anything. He knitted his brows and thought.

    Could something be down there?

The girl seemed to feel it as well. She shook violently, trying to free herself from the binding.

And as if the gods heard her wishes, the binding suddenly became loose. Her eyes widened in shock, but she still continued to escape.

The girl scratched Qin Zuijia on his cheeks, making them bleed. He held the bloody cheek, and seemed to feel wronged. His cheek burned and felt more painful than being stabbed by a knife. Her sharp nails seemed to be inlaid with poison. But for what kind of poison it is, he didn't dare ask.

The woman had a chance to run. Though she felt the ground shook as if the Ghost King’s punishment would come, she still persevered to run.

Her mind was buzzing with questions. At the very beginning, the question she had in her mind was why the Qin Clan still exists. Next was why a man, with no blood relation what-so-ever with the Qin Clan was using a Guqin made for the Qin Clan's young masters. Then, She was baffled as to why Patriarch Qin did not fight with his weapon and chose a metal rod instead. Lastly was his question...

The woman yelled in her head 'IF ANYONE IN THIS ROOM SHOULD KNOW A LOT ABOUT THE GHOST KING, IT SHOULD BE PATRIARCH QIN!!"

She reached the door leading outside of the black room only to find that a golden scale was laying on the floor. The scale glow brightly, illuminating the dark room. She felt her heart sink, and a surge of violent emotions swell up on her. 'It wasn't the Ghost King making the ground shake.'

Seeing her stand still, Wei Xiao drew out his sword. Enveloping it with his spiritual energy, he prepared to attack, but was stopped by a jade white slender hand.

"You won't be able to kill her with that sword." He said. "Make her spill tell you about the Ghost King."

Wei Xiao furrowed his brow, then moments later, seemed to be enlightened. 'Only the Ghost King can kill the 'Saint'

Wei Xiao sheaths his sword and prepares to interrogate the girl. He walk on step but found that the other was pale with fright.

    "I'll speak!" She trembles.

    "Who is the Ghost King?"

"The World's order." As she said those words, The floor underneath her glowed red. The floor turned into a portal that was fluctuating with Yin energy. The girl fell, never to be seen again.

Wei Xiao and Qin Zuijia were still dumfounded. What was that 'The World's Order?' What order? And why was that portal so chaotic? Seems like many souls were devoured by that hole. But the most surprising thing was...

Qin Zuijia looked at Wei Xiao, and the other looked back. "She actually said it."

    "It seems so."

Qin Zuijia walked towards the place where the girl was swallowed. To his surprise, he found a golden scale on the floor.

Wei Xiao drew nearer and looked at the egg-sized scale. This seems to be from a Golden Dragon but there hasn't been any sightings of a Golden Dragon in the whole Wolf Bane continent. Even the five great clans' contracted beasts live in the higher realm.

Wei Xiao felt that this could have been the reason why the girl suddenly blurted out a hidden secret. He turned his head to look at Qin Zuijia, but was stunned all of a sudden. 'Why was he crying?' He thought.

Qin Zuijia felt his gaze. He felt that there was liquid flowing from his eyes and was surprised to find he was crying. Though he felt pleased to see a Golden Dragon scale, he didn't understand why he would tear up. ' Was he that happy to find a rare demon beast?'

Though confused, he tucked the scale near his chest and felt that it was just right. He stood up and beckoned to the boy. "Where are the screaming children?"

The boy laughed, then his snot stained face turned into a delicate youth whose eyes still glow sinister, He grew two arms and laughed. He seemed to pat the air, but next second a group of children wearing tattered clothes came out. In the middle was the chubby looking baby whose face was still joyful and happy to be the center of attention. He saw his uncle, the beauty that was always with him and laughed.

Then, with a thump thump thump, he walked towards the two.

"Uncle! Pretty Uncle! Xiao Ling made new friends!"

Qin Zuijia didn't know whether to laugh or cry. 'What 'new friends'. those kids seem to see you as a Buddha!'

Wei Xiao patted the baby and carried him to his bosoms. He turned to leave, but was called back by the boy.

"Young Master!" The formerly snot-stained boy ran towards the two. "As thanks to you Killing the ugly hag. I will give you this token of appreciation!" He said, handing the other two pairs of earplugs.

Wei Xiao wanted to refuse, but the boy forced it on him. He said that it would be very helpful to them when staying in Willow City, thus Wei Xiao took it and put them in his pouch.

Qin Zuijia went to look at the earplugs. He raised his brows to Wei Xiao. “Now can you tell me how you got out of the potion?”

“I digested things faster than normal people.” Wei Xiao said with a straight face.

Qin Zuijia’s laughs rang through the night.

    Chapter 12 - Expensive Inn
When the sun rose, the three went to town to find another inn to stay in. The old ladies' inn suddenly fell apart when they left. Even if it didn't collapse, the two would be too disgusted to stay, and the fact that they were the only ones staying at the place makes their hair rise.

Xiao Ling was munching on an osmanthus cake while chatting about how the screaming children rubbed his tummy until they turned red. He liked the attention, and loved how he could make so many friends, little did he know that the screaming children seemed to treat him like a Buddha and was praying that the baby could bring them happiness, luck and wealth. Regardless, he wondered if he could see the screaming children again.

Qin Zuijia was looking left and right, trying to find a cheap place to dine. With two gluttons with him, finding a cheap yet delicious place to eat would take a very long time. They aren't in Heavenly City where every food tastes good and they didn't hand in money because the people would treat the food they eat as a protection fee.

Willow City is only famous with a lot of bad stuff. The whole city is right by the sea and many of its territory is in water. The whole place smelled of fish and basically filled with loud people. Most of the legends in the City were horrible and are made to scare children. Probably the only thing that is good in this place was how the city got its name, but that will be a story in another time.

Right now, Wei Xiao stopped in his tracks and smelled a very fragrant combination of herbs and spices as well as the juiciness of tender meat of a chicken beasts.

A chicken beasts is very similar to a normal chicken, but is ten times larger and more delicious than normal chicken. It's meat is tender, easy to cut and chew. With the right way of cooking, the chicken would be even more delicious.

Wei Xiao smelled the sour and spicy scent mixed with the chicken's natural grease. His mouth started to water, and his stomach was yelling at him to go and see the chicken. Though his thoughts were screaming at him, his face remained cold.

Qin Zuijia also noticed the scent of chicken beasts. He was stunned to find that Willow city has chicken beasts, he thought that the place only has fishes. He turned his head to Wei Xiao and asked. "That chicken breast smells good, should we go and see?"

How could Wei Xiao disagree. He grabbed Qin Zuijia and Xiao Ling and run towards a majestic looking inn.

Staring at the large and beautiful inn, Qin Zuijia's face was filled with black lines. Sure enough only rich people can afford good food!. he had forgotten that he was once rich. Even if he didn't, he wouldn't spend money for food.

Wei Xiao walked towards the entrance with Qin Zuijia being dragged behind. Xiao Ling was already as eager as his uncle to eat good food and was walking at a faster speed than them.

The inn was built with rosewood looking more luxurious compared to the other inns in the city. This was the only place that looked great amongst the series of buildings in Willow city. At its front were Four words "Wind Masters' Southern inn"

Upon arriving, Qin Zuijia looked at the noble looking employee of the inn. His jaw almost drops to the floor when he looks at the people around him. ' WHY ARE CULTIVATORS WORKING AT AN INN!!'

If Qin Zuijia noticed it, Wei Xiao would obviously see it as well. His brows furrowed, looking at the cultivators who didn't seem to mind working. The employees working here were all early to late stage foundation building stage. In his mind, he was wondering why these cultivators are working here instead of cultivating, but the smell of good food distracted him.

Xiao Ling was even more distracted. He hasn't practiced any cultivation yet and was still unable to sense the Qi in other people, so his mind was set on eating and eating.

They turned to a man who looked like he was only twenty years old. The man beamed a smile at them. He noticed how Wei Xiao was a cultivator since he sensed that he was in the middle stage of core formation. At first he seemed stunned at how young Wei Xiao was, but thought that he was just one of those geniuses.

"Would the young sirs like to dine or book a room?" He asks as a smile forms even brighter in his face.

Qin Zuijia looked pained but still asked. "How much is a night here?"

"A night costs only five gold coins per room." He looked at Qin Zuijia with relish. 'A beauty has descended, This must be his lucky day!'. though Qin Zuijia is obviously a male, the man doesn't seem to mind, 'Beauty is beauty!"

He looks at Qin Zuijia then at Wei Xiao. His brows raised and understanding came to his mind. "Might I ask if the young sirs are cultivation partners?"

Qin Zuijia looked up, confused. "No."

    Wei Xiao shook his head.

The man seemed unconvinced. "But both of you seem to fit each other so much. One has a pure yang soul while the other has a pure yin soul." He pointed at Wei Xiao then at Qin Zuijia.

Qin Zuijia was baffled. He remembers that the doctors and elders told him that he has a pure yang reverse soul, a very rare type of soul. If it was able to dual cultivate with a pure yin reverse soul then the two would leap in great heights.

Qin Zuijia looked at the man inquiringly. "I remember it being a pure yang reverse, why did it turn to a pure yin?"

The man looked at his shorter stature, his slender shoulders and cherry lips. He narrowed his gaze and looked closer. His eyelashes were long and was able to cast a shadow on his pinkish cheeks. His long hair looks like silk and seemed soft even without touching it. His body was slender making him rather sexy yet ethereal. Even the body radiates with yin energy, where is there yang?

The man shook his head. "If a young master doesn't believe my sight, then you could ask other people, I'm sure their answer would be the same."

    Qin Zuijia nodded.

Wei Xiao, who was looking at the side, felt confused as well. Who doesn't know that Qin Zuijia has a Pure Yang Reverse soul. It was known in the entire Wolf Ban Continent and many masters introduced women to his side to dual cultivate. But none of those females has Pure Yin Reverse soul, all of them were either pure yin or yin.

Wei Xiao pondered about it and thought about how the other fell to a demonic cultivation. His soul must have been changed when he turned to the other side. With all the Yin energy around him, it might have changed his soul. But this was only a lie he told himself. How could a soul change? Won't the Ghost King feel that there was an increase in Yin soul and decrease in Yang?

Wei Xiao looked at the baffled Qin Zuijia. The other's eyes were filled with confusion, indignities and fear. He turned his head to the man. "We'll book a room and dine as well."

The man nodded and immediately told the others to bring the three to a table.

After sitting, A girl brought a scroll to the two containing the meals served in the inn.

    - Sichuan Pork

    - Grilled Rack of Lamb with Garlic and Herbs.

All the food listed made Wei Xiao's mouth water and Qin Zuijia's purse hurt. Though the money was not his, spending too much seemed unrestrained.

Wei Xiao inevitably saw the fluctuations in Qin Zuijia's eyes. His heart suddenly softened and he wanted to pat the other's head.

Wei Xiao is getting to know Qin Zuijia even more, making Qin Zuijia look more adorable. The other doesn't act like a second generation young master, instead he acts like any normal person when spending money. His heart would hurt when even a single copper coin would leave his pouch. Aside from that, he is clumsy and awkward. His smile was real and he felt rather comfortable being with him.

He attributed it to the fact that their souls seem to match well. But even if they matched, he wouldn't think of trying to bed with the other.

Wei Xiao turned to the girl who was waiting for their order. "I'll just have the beggars chicken and.." He turned to Qin Zuijia. "What would you like to eat?"

Qin Zuijia shook his head. "Something cheap!"

"Give him Honey Garlic Chicken and Sichuan Pork for the kid."

Something Cheap can't be found in the inn. Wei Xiao ordered according to the other's taste. With how the Qin Family despise Pepper and curse chilly. He chose something that isn't spicy for the other, though it wasn't cheap.

The meat of a chicken beasts would be the meat used for their orders and for Xiao Ling's Pork, they used a wild boar beast's meat. There wasn't much spicy food in their menu, but Sichuan Pork was there at the top. Looking at the menu, Wei Xiao felt that the food served didn't have a consistency, most of them he doesn't even know. ' Chicken Adobo? what's that?'

When the dishes were served, the whole table was filled. Most people would only order one dish for a group of people, since the meat is gigantic, but Wei Xiao and Xiao Ling can't fill their stomach with that little food.

Qin Zuijia's Heart hurt. The chicken in front of his is big, and big equals expensive. Even if he fasts for a week it would be fine, but now, there's a massive chicken cut in front of him. should he eat? Well, he has no other choice than to eat, He can't just waste food!

Qin Zuijia picked up his chopsticks and took a piece of cut meat. Sending it to his mouth, he smelled the sweet aroma closing in to his mouth. He stopped and looked at the meat in front of him. Even without eating it, he knew that it would taste good. He steeled his heart and delivered the meat to his mouth.

Sweet...Good... delicious...where have you been all my life?

Qin Zuijia's eyes misted. He hasn't eaten good food for Eighty years. He usually fast or eats nuts, sometimes hunt pheasants. The taste of food left him a long time ago, now his mouth overflowed with flavour.

Wei Xiao looked at the other who was enjoying his feast. On his lips is a slight smile.
