As the Wise and mighty Captain DEAD POOL said while pointing a gun at one of the Females he was going to kill .... " is it sexist to kill you or is it even more sexist to not kill you , it's confusing" Yes.. like the good captain... today I'm confused too..!!! Clearly there's a lot of women in X-MEN , even the mc of the latest movie was a woman. So....why is it called X-MEN ... what's wrong with calling it X-WOMEN...???? ( ps: again bored and nothing to do)
i dont think it is. the true reason is grammar (you know when their is a guy in a group we must use masculine gender (well in french that's true, idk for english) And dont come bashing the grammar saying its sexist (after all, we still need constancy)) -_- Note: yeah ik thats a lot of parenthesis
Why do we even need to make big things about this little things? I'm not even offended on X-men being called as x-men
Men is how you say head-shot in Japanese combat sports, X-Men are fighting head-on against xenophobia. This means that it is very xenophobic to question their name, good day sir! Edit: Add cultural insensitivity to that...
This thread is cancer. It's like asking why humanity is often referred to as "Mankind". There is history or development in the English language and honestly? Things like this is just being unnecessarily anal about everything. Super shitpost. Much triggered. Fuck feminazi's.
If you must differentiate the word 'Man' and plural of 'Men' into sexes, then you are a sexist. Humankind, has been refereed to as 'Man' for years and years. It has never solely refereed to a gender, unless specifically speaking of genders, in which case it would be Male and Female, not man and woman.
Troll logic: XY=Male XX=Female Therefore, X-men is technically redundant. Would the female league be XX?
No it's not sexist because men can be used as a plural for man or as a general term for Mankind. In the same term that man can mean a member of the human species. As per the dictionary 2. A member of the species Homo sapiens or all the members of this species collectively, without regard to sex: prehistoric man. 3. The human individual as representing the species, without reference to sex; the human race; humankind: Man hopes for peace, but prepares for war. 4. a human being; person: to give a man a chance; When the audience smelled the smoke, it was every man for himself. The term man can be gender neutral. However the term woman isn't. So is the term X-Men sexist? No, it just means they are separate from Humankind. Even if it was called X-Humans, you can guarantee people would still be getting their proverbial panties in a twist because it still has the word man in it.
