Rant ahead:

If i have to be honest, i, your grandmother, feel truly disappointed by this parody of the princess weiyang
I was excited when I discovered this, Gdi I should have predicted the name, weiyang and weiyoung, made all The difference
The mc supposed to be calm and collected, she should manage to outsmart the schemes, she lived a harsh life and in no way as pampered and rash as this one
Granted, it's the plot, which by the way, I side-eye a lot
I actually prefer if they stay true to the novel plot and aged up weiyang instead of switching her identity :/
I wouldn't be this disappointed if I haven't read the novel but the glaring "based of" can't be written off
I guess it's because the turning back in time ban/censor that they botched up one of my fave novel

Meh if anyone want to watch this I suggest to just watch this as another chinese historical drama that's bound to be bountiful in tragedies

 

Might it be possible that its weiyang before the revenge?

Spoiler: Plot

There's a princess (xin er) that her family was killed by the li family (which is the PM family and weiyang family) and she ran away
The princess was saved by the original weiyang but the original weiyang was killed off by the li mom assasin and the princess xiner that original weiyang saved become her for revenge purposes
so the character will totally be different since she doesnt suffer what weiyang originally have gone through

Some of the plot stories are there, i.e. the sick mom, even the names are the same (tuoba jun, li minde, etc) but yeah if u want to watch it better treat it as a whole new drama rather than adaptation (?)
I'm also bothered by the uneven eyebrows but don't mind me lol

probably can't. they way they made this, its probably gonna put less vengeance and more romance. thats a huge turn off.

 

Awe....I love these transmigration stuff tho..........why is it banned? Scarlet heart and Jade palace made it through..

I maybe can see some vengeance (?) But it's emphasizing on drama-tragedy I think, judging from the OP and ending song
The setting was good, although you won't find the calm and smart MC at first (dunno how later as the mc is bound to more tragedies, I actually find love020 mc calmer and more dignified as of now) but the cast acting are pretty good, I'm just pissed they stray away so much from the original novel lol (my drama adaptation wish was perhaps like love020 which was like 90% ish lol)

Beautiful, charming, smart, distant, vengeful, poisonous, strong Yuan Lie is not mentioned in the cast???
Then, who is going to be the male lead? That naive, stupid-to-the-point-of-opening-gate-before-assuring-everyone-identity little prince? I had been fantasizing who is going to play as Yuan Lie when I heard that TPWY is getting drama adaptation

And why is Vanness Wu playing as a bad guy? He is not that old, isnt he?

So so so so very disappointed

I guess the original novel plot is too dark for the targeted audience (with almost no familial love in first part of the story, lots of bloodless killing, and treating lives as if nothing) so the producer decided to alter the darker part of the story and replace it with a more mainstream, widely accepted plot

The big question is, why do they even bother to make the drama version, purchasing the right while they make a almost completely different story??

But one of the great thing about TPW is the darkness of both leads

Ikr but looking at vaness in ancient/fantasy getup made me realise that he actually have a very good face for that
Should have starred in a lot of them when he was young Q.Q

I'm also torn in watching this.
I really wanted the gritty 'I'll plot all you guys to hell' side of Wei Young and Yuan Lie which is kinda missing here.
But I like the show and pacing of this so far. And I like the actors/actress here. Ok, Lee Hsin Ai moving eyebrows bugs me a bit. And it's 2 ep per day.
I just don't think they should use the name in the first place.
