    I can't really comment on Qidian as it's a business, because it doesn't seem fair to me to judge them as a whole since I am also a fan of the works of their authors. They made good and bad decisions. They have legal rights, but they seem wholly uninformed and unprofessional when it comes to copyright laws in international settings. They can't risk their image so they had been using Goodguyperson as an agent who takes profit from poaching translators and duping them into signing into slave contracts.
    As a whole, I think this goodguyperson is a despicable human being who thrives on taking advantage of others.

    There's paywall on WW as well for some novels. If i want to read latest chapters, i have to pay a monthly sub via Patreon.

    As far as I knew, no TL group (including QI) implement paywall.

    Cina QI did by only allow you to read 100 chapter for free then pay for the rest. No pay, no read.

    Patreon model OTOH allow those who pay to read ahead, but chapter still coming out for non payer

    you might want to add that they artificially raise ratings on novels by making it impossible to give 0 stars,

    as for their app... you can like their app, but to dislike it you have to log in with your fb... so less people will dislike it, because who the fck will log in to something they don't like?

    Does anyone have an idea of how paywalls would affect us? Like, will we see whole translations blocked by a paywall or just bonus chapters? If its the latter, isn't that basically the same as other tl'ers using patreon?

    Can you give 0 stars on NU?

    hmmm, never tried to leave a review with 0 stars on NU, so i do not know...

    either way, if it's like that on NU too, it would be the same case of artificially raising the ratings.

    It's hardly artificially raising the ratings, the rating is between 1 and 5. If the rating were between 0 and 5 but the only choices were between 1-5 then I'd agree, but that isn't the case.

    That isn't the same thing, unrated is not equal to 0/5

    we talk about NU system right? NU system adopt 5 star not 6 star~
    5 star cuz 1~5
    6 cuz zero to five~
    if NU use 6 star then it is possible give 0 star? is that clear?
    beside simple math~ anything divide by zero is equal to zero so what use of 0 star?
    or do you think there another use of zero star beside just to express rather than give no rate cuz it so bad it never deserve to be rated, I prefer this bad thing get zero~
    IMO useless~

    Unrated = no review, it doesn't mean the novel is bad... if that were the case, wouldn't every novel have infinite bad reviews? AFAIK, NU doesn't use the 6 star system, and why are you suddenly dividing by 0? Also, anything divided by 0 is not 0, it's undefined.

    Honestly, I'm having a hard time understanding what you've said, so forgive me if I've misunderstood.

    i have thought about it, i have checked it, and i still have this feeling something is wrong,

    but i have also concluded that logically, you are completely right, so it's probably my flawed sense of mathematics playing tricks on me =p
