For me, it's much better to read the novel. Actually last year i drop this one haha but some of the readers here, recommended to read this so i read it again and finish it. And i like it, the build up of the characters is really slow but it will hype you to read it continuously. Because the FL is really smart and villainous in a good way.

I stopped reading after chapter 89, but basically he sent Lane to give her beautiful dresses and accessories and a bunch of other nice things. This was basically giving her a lot of face and fame. I hated how Lane treated Mielle like some sort of goddess worthy of praise and advice-seeking but disregarded Aria at every turn, embarrassing her. I suppose this is mainly Lane's fault, as even when Mielle started to slip up her "smart and composed" act, he would still obstinately believe that she was the one the crown prince was interested in.

The main issue I'm angry with is that ML assumed Aria was Mielle. Like yeah, I get it, she's a former-prostitute's bratty daughter, go figure he wouldn't think it's her. But just assuming and sending things of that degree to a person you barely know? That's retarded. He had the nerve to wonder why she wouldn't wear the fancy things he thought he sent her. Erm... Maybe next time check who the person you're sending gifts to is, f---tard.

I didn't read the novel but from the Manhwa raws:
The main reason he assumed MC was Mielle is because she never introduces herself and was wearing Mielle's clothes with the Frederick family brooch when he first met her. Off that alone it's reasonable to assume she was Mielle.

But there were other things that led to the misidentification. She used the family carriage which he identified by their insignia. MC had a reputation for having really bad taste with excessive ribbons which is why she burned all her clothes and borrowed Mielle's. Then there's MC's character reputation which she doesn't fix all that quickly because it isn't like the people in her house were going to sing praises of her when her personality suddenly made a 180. Her rep only started getting better once she earned her core allies and went out to tea parties. Father said he received helpful advice from his daughter and ML assumed it was Mielle because she's the only one he would call "daughter" in a good light and based on their encounter, MC seemed insightful and in the know with her tip about the casino.

There really wasn't any reason for him to think he had misidentified her and she seemed content in the beginning to allow the misunderstanding as it wouldn't help her to get involved with him when she didn't know he was the prince.

Yeah, you’re right, and it’s pretty clear that she wanted him to think it was Mielle as she doesn’t know/trust him at this time in the story. Like her main goal is to survive and get revenge on Mielle who she would’ve left alone had she not kept trying to hurt/kill Aria and ruin her reputation.
As for the novel, the translation I read has their meeting at chapter 14/15 and there’s a small conv. between Asher and a knight after Aria's left the shop where she got her hourglass fixed.
    ———
(Asher): “… Is that a carriage of the Roscents?”
    (Knight): ”Yes.”
(Asher): “I heard that they have a first-born son… Did the count have a daughter of that age?”
(Knight): ”There’s a young lady named Mielle. I heard that another girl was adopted after he remarried, but they say she’s a scapegrace without any proper etiquette. Therefore, I think that was Lady Mielle.”
    (Asher): “Mielle…”
(Asher’s thoughts): ‘Does her name mean honey?’ It wasn’t a name suited for someone with such a coy face. ‘Even after such an unexpected occurrence, didn’t she maintain her composure and play with me?’ It was an unthinkable audacity for a girl in her early teens.
    ———
So the only real reason he thought Aria was Mielle was due to the information that was presented by a knight of his in both the manwha and novel. And later in chapter 16, Aria has a moment where she thinks the same way as she does in the manwha, only while she’s returning the dress she borrowed from Mielle instead of while with Sarah(so the scene bellow happens after Aria hands the dress to Mielle and thanks her before getting a strained albeit polite enough response).
    ———
(Aria’s thoughts): ‘Dumb bitch! I hope that man mistakes me for Mielle.’
It wouldn’t have happened if it had been in the future. Mielle had a very different appearance, tone, airy atmosphere from Aria then, but apart from that, all other external features were the same: bright blond hair, porcelain skin, average height and similar age. Lastly, they were both young ladies of the Roscents. Mielle and Aria had many characteristics in common.
In Aria’s case, she wasn’t able to eat properly in her young age, so she was a bit shorter than Mielle, but because of that, both of them were around the same height even though Mielle was a year younger than her. Therefore, if they were both together, someone from afar wouldn’t be able to distinguish between the two.
Of course, people would be able to distinguish Mielle’s elegance from Aria’s just by posture alone, but ever since Aria had started working to refine her elegance, that gap had started to close slowly.
People would think that Mielle was the only one when considering the daughter of Count Roscent, so if the man were to search based on her family’s name and external features, it was highly probable that Aria’s name would not come up. Not only that, the dress that Mielle had received from Oscar was itself a trap.
That dress was not Aria’s, but Mielle’s. Mielle, who had received the gift, had boasted to everyone with whom she was acquainted in the neighborhood, saying that the dress, which was decorated with a red ruby crafted with the seal of the family of the Duke of Frederick, was beautiful.
Therefore, that man would never be able to find her. Thinking that way, Aria felt relieved. As long as she did not head out to where commoners usually gathered, she might be totally safe from danger, but it was better to be ready for anything.
    (Three paragraph skips)
Hoping that Mielle might take all of the risks and dangers onto herself, Aria continued to build the solid walls around her.
(Aria): “That dress, everyone I met praised it saying that it was pretty despite me not being the owner.”
(Aria’s thoughts): ‘Please, wear that dress and walk around in it. Boast to everyone that the dress is yours.’
    ———
Yeah, she really wanted Asher to think she was Mielle in case he was a threat and - from what I can remember - even when Mielle was getting gifts and such, Aria didn’t really seem to care. She was just high key suspicious of Lane and his master/Asher.

Spoiler on what Asher did after knowing that Mielle wasn't the one he thought she was please. And the gifts that Asher gave to Mielle just stayed with her? Did Asher immediately looked for Aria to confirm that it was her that he was looking for? Thank you:cookie:

On the birthday incident. There was no in-between scene of him after that and when he met Aria on the terrace. I believe his confrontation with Mielle (and her expression was the defining clue he was looking for since Mielle herself looked like she really doesn't know him despite being addressed. Mielle, after all, cannot deny who she was, in front of a crowd and Pricness Isis.
re:gifts. Asher will look impolite if he demanded to ask back the gifts being sent. He will look like a greedy man even though he made the mistake.
Re: immediately. He didn't. He did leave his party when he discovered Mielle is not Aria. They met again in Chap 87 when Asher went to Aria's place and it involved a terrace. By my read, they are supposed to meet. Asher gave Aria a bouquet and when he met her, took her hand and kissed the back of it politely as a gentleman would.

This is spot on. in this event. Aria didn't know Asher aside from his name. Asher didn't disclose anything. Even Aria just suspected that he might be a knight/minor nobleman. He didn't gave away anything that could be traced back to him, unless you count the aide. And with her future in mind, she is suspicious of anyone who tries to help her. She experienced a lifetime where she was being used and ended up as a stepping stone for others so I understand her suspicious nature. She was still on her guard even when she agreed to work with him for a long time. Yes, people, Aria prioritized her vengeance and revenge. It's the majority of the plot and it will take time before they go into the romance part if that's what people are trying to know.

Oof so bum rushed the novel.

Lane actually informs him prior to Isis's birthday party that Aria was likely the person he was looking for. Asher only goes to confirm. Upon seeing Mielle's face he is insulted and leaves. He doesn't spare any mind for either ladies.

The gifts stay with Mielle, but he keeps sending flowers to both sisters to keep contact with Aria. He sends sugar and sweets to Mielle during the sugar shortage but sends Aria a box of overwhelmingly designer clothes fit for a queen. She puts it away safely because there is no way she could wear it without being too eye catching and wonders who Asher could be to afford such things. He also keeps sending flowers, Lilies to Mielle and Tulips (the flower used for the royal emblem) for Aria and sends letters to her this way.

Ultimately when in jail for the second time, Mielle sees Lane passing by and begs him to use his Master's favor to save her. She thinks because she was given so many gifts, Lane's master would still support her. At the time Lane was walking over to Asher who was mocking her for her previous life and current life's crimes against Aria whom he loves (even with all her duplicitous nature).

Lane, uncomfortably tells her in front of Asher that his master mistook her for Aria as he only knew which family she was from at the time. The gifts were originally meant for Aria.

Thanks :aww:so satisfying that Mielle was told she was mistook as Aria! :blobpopcorn_cool:

Is this Lane or just some guy?

I was scanning the raws and seems that he kinda ignored Aria when he was giving the gifts to Mielle, what happened to him when he knew that it was actually Aria who Asher wants to give the gifts to

    That is Lane.

He makes multiple attempts to confirm her identity. I think the first two tests are already in the manhwa. Test 1 was talk about the management of the casino by the crowned prince (whether or not it should be shut down). Test 2 was whether she has any new business ventures in mind.

The Count (father) made a lot of money listening to Aria about the Fur fashion trend, but sneakily made it seem to Lane and likely others that the idea was provided to him by Mielle. He never lied directly but it was implied and never corrected. Because of this and what Aria said about the casino crashing to Asher, Lane assumed Mielle is the smart one but time and time again she disappoints with naive and uninspiring answers.

He finally figures it has to be Aria after his third test in regards to how the Count should deal with his border taxation problem. As the fur business is seasonal, importing the supply into the city in large quantities meant a large luxury goods tax and sitting stock that goes nowhere for the rest of the year. Mielle stupidly tells Lane that he should just help her dad out by giving him good connections to those at the border (Lane had sorted out a recent issue you see) which disappoints him greatly while Aria gives him an idea about warehousing right outside the border (originally it was an idea from Cain in the previous life, Mielle's brother). This way they can ship their goods and store it at the warehouse, then carry it in through the border in smaller, necessary quantities. When Lane exclaims that the Count is lucky to have two brilliant daughters, and that Mielle mostly knows more about fashion to suggest the fur trend, the dinner table goes cold. Mielle is confused and the Countess (Aria's mother) is upset.

With this brilliant plan, and seeing the reactions,L becomes convinced that Mielle is just a dullard and Aria must be the one Asher is looking for. Especially when considering how Asher considered Aria as slippery as a cat in trying to avoid him. Having seen the two girls, Lane tells him the description fits Aria far better.

Lane agonized a little over the mistaken identity but honestly not too much. He pretty much did his job thoroughly anyway and continues to help with communication between the two in the later events.

He didn't. They were never engaged.
She was the best candidate so she/everyone assumed she would be engaged to him.

As she was a prominent/powerful figure of the Aristocratic Party due to this assumption (which at the time had more power than the Monarchy), and a Duke's daughter with some royal blood in her lineage, Aster couldn't go against them openly. It's also why he would woo 'Mielle' even if his identity was hidden and would enter and leave Isis's birthday party without so much as a glance to her/ after checking out another girl. He's literally not cheating :'D

Eventually he just chooses to court Aria and Isis does the same shit to the King of Croa (They're not engaged, but rumored to be engaged. They do have the agreements to do so in writing but the imperial seal turns out to be faked. There was no official announcement.) and just seems to always suffer from a case of counting her eggs before they hatch.

Chloe being indicated to be her father happens somewhere in the neighbourhood of chapter 222. The actual reveal to Aria is a few chapters down though she suspects it already. Her paternal family are the ones that approach her and they tell her after the noble faction rebel purge. They suspected it earlier on and seeing her was basically visual confirmation.

Chloe showing up for the first time in the story happens earlier in Croa when Isis tried to ally with Croa’s king. It was mentioned he looked like and had a similar aura to Aria but not an actual reveal.
