In the end... I dont see spoilers. UwU) i just finished reading Volume 6 and I dont wanna start on Volume 7 yet cause I don't wanna be stranded on a cliff hanger. I'll wait till all chapters in Volume 7 are done translated.
Very good choice Although I don’t think V7 has quite as many cliffhangers as the previous volumes, because it’s a lot more angst... Sadly, I can’t even say many spoilers anymore since it’s been ~2 years since I first read the series and my memories are spotty. I’ve basically been reading along with my translations. Thanks for reading the series!
Just finished Season 2 recently! Can definitely share spoilers if anyone is interested/can’t wait for the translations
@TaffyGirl13 I'm in season one and I would like to know if Yu Yin stays with the partial view to see the supernatural ??? Also Xiao Yu has something to do so that Yu Yin can see them more now ??? Please answer me. Pretty please
By the end of season 1, Yu Yin is able to completely see the supernatural at all times (rather than it being sporadic and random, as it had been before). Xiao Yu isn't the exact reason his ability strengthens, but I guess you could say Xiao Yu is an indirect cause. It would be more accurate to say that Yu Yin's ability strengthens because of all the cases he keeps getting wrapped into, and these cases were all linked to Xiao Yu in some way. Or another way to put it is that Yu Yin likely would not have gotten involved with these cases if Xiao Yu had never come into his life.
You can find all the information on my website but in case you wanted the NU page, it’s here: https://www.novelupdates.com/series/case-book/
He does! He goes through a lot just to protect them and make sure he can stay with them (especially Yu Yin)! It becomes a lot more evident in the later volumes. I'm curious, where exactly are you in season 1 right now?
Now that I'm reading volume 8 of season 1 I can see it. Thank you very much!!! Can you tell me what to expect from season 2 ??
@TaffyGirl13 I want to ask about Yuyin's mom in season 2 Yu Yin finds out the truth about her family ??? I already had my suspicions but I still don't want to believe it but my suspicions came from the beginning. I would also like to know how Yu Yin's relationship with the new main character in season 2 will be and if there is something special about him? Pretty please please
Yu Yin's true birth father is never explicitly revealed to him, but it's strongly implied that he's subconsciously aware of the truth to an extent by the end of season 2 Spoiler when he sees his mother and his birth father as ghosts at his mother's grave. Ahhh there's so much to say about season 2! The simplest way to put it is that the new main character essentially replaces Xiao Yu's role in season 1 (Xiao Yu becomes a supporting character instead), where the cases all relate back to him in a way (although in much less direct manner than Xiao Yu's situation, so the connection is not really obvious until near the end). The new main character's name is Dong Feng, and he's formally introduced in V2 of season 2. He's Li Zi Hong's junior from university, but is closer to Yu Yin's age due to having skipped grades. He's a genius (and possesses an amazing memory/observation skill) like Xiao Yu, but specialises more in spatial recognition and analytical/logical fields compared to Xiao Yu, who is stronger in language/reading. Despite his connections to Li Zi Hong, Dong Feng doesn't like or trust the police, but he ends up repeatedly helping them anyways because he worries about his friends (even though he denies it, as he tries to keep people away from himself due to his past, which is slowly revealed as the season progresses). In the end, he becomes Yu Yin's best friend Of course, Yu Yin also continues to grow as a main character throughout the second season as well. He goes through quite a lot of internal struggles as he fights and fails to save all the victims that call out to him for help but comes out stronger in the end. A fair warning: season 2 is more emotional than season 1. Dong Feng's story is a tragic one, and it hurts in a different way from Xiao Yu's in a sense that Xiao Yu had already lost everything from the beginning of the series, while Dong Feng is still spiraling downwards throughout the series. His ending is also very bittersweet, not as "perfect" as Xiao Yu's.
M Ahhh thanks I can't wait to read season 2 I'm so excited. So Yu Yin says nothing to Yu Tong about the spirits of his mother and another man. I saw the images on your page and thought that Dong boy was Xiao Yu's brother but after continuing reading season 1, I eliminated the possibility. I want to know if Yu Yin's relationship with Dong how does it start ?? Is it good or is it just as bad as when Ah Yin met Ah Yu ?? Thanks you sooo much I also want to know there are only two seasons ?? And what are the problems that Yu Yin has to deal with internally?
Honestly, I had really mixed feelings about the ending of the second season, but that's because I'm biased towards happy endings, especially since I just wanted to give all the characters massive hugs by the end. It's not "perfect", but it's not a sad ending either, and I can definitely see why the author chose it. If anything, I would say it's a "happy" ending that also contains a melancholic reminder of the main character's suffering.
Yu Yin's first encounter with Dong Feng is quite hilarious actually; he mistakenly thinks that Dong Feng is a girl XDDD Dong Feng has a cold, indifferent personality (mostly as a defense mechanism), but Yu Yin is the type that isn't deterred by such things, so their relationship isn't that bad from the start, as Yu Yin basically decides he wants to befriend Dong Feng from the beginning. Xiao Yu actually has a pretty strong dislike for Dong Feng at first though. (Also, Dong Feng hates Yan Si, so their interactions are hilarious ) Yu Yin's internal struggles start with V2 of season 2 (which I think is my favourite volume between both seasons). The issue revolves around the fact that "he cannot save everyone" (as he is repeatedly reminded), and the frustration and guilt he feels whenever he fails to save a person despite having an ability to see extra [paranormal] signs and messages. He feels responsible for deaths because he thinks he should have been able to prevent them. It's something that nearly breaks him in a later volume (I think V6?) but in the end he pulls through. And yes, there are only two seasons, which I think is unfortunate, but Taiwanese series rarely go past two seasons. Unique Legend, which is the author's most famous work, only has two seasons as well (though each one is much longer than YBCB haha). I'm really excited to share the translations of this season to everyone too~
