I love this forum, it lets like-minded geeks converse about many different topics better than a platform like reddit or tumblr ever can. But there is something missing from this amazing place of ideas and positivity! A fucking dislike button. Sometimes when I read a post I visibly cringe and think to myself "These are one of the most aids and retarded fractured sentence ever known to man." but I don't want to be rude and type "Yo, this shit is fucking retarded" or something of the sorts so since there's no other option I remain silent. However what if there was such an option? An option that would not only express your dislike of a certain message or topic but actually dislike it? So i have come here to you fine nuffians with a simple question: should there be a dislike button?
Your post is retarded Jokes aside, generally dislike buttons aren't that great for communities (at least public ones), the whole point is to create a positive vibe and disliking things can discourage people. Even more so since there will always be people disliking just for the lolz. Just cringe and move on, and don't let things get to you.
this isn't the first time this topic has come up. but for long story short... . . . this isn't reddit. if you don't like something then you stop reading or leave, you don't implement a feature that would exist solely to be abused and to abuse other.
I wouldn't call saying you dislike something abusing a person in any sense of the word but i do know that it would be abused as with every feature available to users. Yeah i usually do but the "global Divide" ebook post above mine really got to me.
forums are place to debate and discuss. the dislike button negates that in its entirety, it shuts down a valid conversation before it can even start. either you have the guts to publicly complain about something or you move on.
That's retarded. I mean no offence by that statement as i meant it as a reference to my original post(it's sad I have to put this in). The only thing that shuts down a conversation is an opposing opinion that you can can't refute. I've seen arguments miles long all ending with one person never replying either from the exhaustion of self or their arguments. If people want to discuss a topic they will, there's not much you can do from shutting that down.
No, the dislike button acts exactly the same way a like button does, it shows how much the of the forum supports your argument and is a useful tool to know the general opinion regarding that particular topic

I didn't hope anything by stating what I did, but if I did hope then it'd be that you'd realize how bad a dislike button is from viewing reddit and such sites that have a dislike button and how out of control it can get.... Next time don't be rude, that's not how you make friends
