You put that shyt onto the processor then you just place ur fan ontop of it and it should spread out.
    I think. Ima noob though.
is this even for a processor lol.

you should put a very small amount on the processor (about a grain of rice) then put onthe fan on top, just dont remove the fan after to check as that might mess it up.

Ergh, using a spreader is a pain. Do this:

Try to get a blob about the size of a pea in the center of your proc.
Place the heatsink directly on top of the proc without wiggling it side to side.
    Lock the heatsink in place.
    You should be good.

You can always add in a tad more paste, but be certain to wipe up any excess that gets squeezed out. <== Very important!

There is literally dozens of YouTube videos on this subject. I'm sure it would help more seeing it rather than someone trying to explain it over the Internet.

Don't put too much, but also don't put too little of the paste. Spread it out, but don't spread it to the border to prevent it from spilling out when you put the heatsink on.

Thermal Paste is used to provide heat conduction between the CPU and Heatsink/Fan, however it is less efficient at conducting heat than a direct metal<->metal connection. Ideally you want as much of the metal heatsink touching the metal CPU as possible.

The reason it's used thinly is to fill gaps that would otherwise be filled with air, as the thermal paste has higher heat conductivity than air.

also protip for the future: dont buy large amounts just buy the syringes(or whatever they are called in english) because believe it or not they actually do have an expirationdate and losing it in the pile of "this might be usefull" is easier than you might think

everyone else pretty much has you covered but before you put anything on make sure that your heatsink doesnt come with thermal paste already applied (will look like a gray circle usually)

Just put on a pea sized paste on it, and spread it evenly with your spreader or any thing that could be used to spread it like credit card or something.
I believe this kind of question could be easily answered by searching on "how to apply a thermal paste" tho

Put a drip on top of the processor, of course, in the middle.

Many have said already, its quite simple. You put a small bit in the center of your cpu, then place the fans heat sink directly onto it. Tighten down the screws and the pressure will cause it to spread out uniformly, that simple. Make sure to wipe any excess off the edges, but unless you add to much it normally wont be a problem.
You should replace it every once in awhile, but not to to often or theres no real point. Make sure to wash up afterwards, this is not stuff you want on your skin at all.
