I don't get what the problem is. A lot of tls have a Patreon account and exchange extra content for money. Besides, they don't really have popups and even the ads aren't that conspicuous. They have to make money somehow or we won't get any novels.
This is just start. If you saw what they did to SS few hours ago youll think twice or more. They gonna implement advanced chapter on webnovel directly. That 17 chapter of SS up there is their test First 2 chapter is current ad-wall/ss wall , another 5 chapter is 10 ss wall per chapter and last 10 chapter is 9 ss wal per chapter. Well for a start they won't be able to do that as many novels aren't even published by them and it is only qidian novel translators they target so everyone is avoiding picking them up as a project the only effect on the community that qidian has would be towards their novels which isn't the majority of this community as you have to take in all the Korean , Japanese and etc. So it doesn't really matter as long as they don't completely cut off access with a paywall, as long as you don't mind being a couple of chapters behind you don't even have to watch ads.

According to a staff on the webnovel forum, the bought SS don't expire, but the bonus SS that come with them do. Bonus SS will be used first before the ones without expiration are touched.
