Not really. You gave one example and followed it with:
If that's not inviting generalism into conversation, I don't know what it.

"Some" is not generalizing. I didn't say "all" or "many" lol.

You are just grasping at straws my friend.
I have over 6 years of experience working with translators . I think I am qualified to give informed opinions instead of generalizing like your average reader.
Besides, I think you are just being fussy, anyone who has read a Japanese novel will point out that it is a lot more common than many want to admit.
You have good intentions but your stance is dangerous. It is why Japanese translation community never improved and got overtaken by Chinese and Korean.
Being allergic to criticism is a recipe for disaster.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions as they say

I looked it up and it can mean "homewrecker" if localized. But it's a direct quote from a character.

    Thieving cat is enough.

Some people just think adding the f word to everything makes them cooler.

thieving cat still carries no concept for me
    just take the magpie
for native americans a spiritual being , in asia a sign for good fortune in europe a herold of misfortune or a thieving animal going after shiny things

as you ignored it before let me ask again whats the term thieving cat about in your posted case wasnt it about stealing a boyfriend or possible spouse ? bitch or slut would be the most likely term used in such a case
so it might not be a translation down to the letter but it still transported the intend (and that better than the litteral translation would)

    .
As a native English speaker I beg to differ.
The word "slut" and "bitch" are not used as much as people like to think.

Cat burglar is an English phrase. Cats and thefts are linked.

Besides, it's a classic case of adding the f word to every sentence because profanity is "cooler".

    I watched all 12 episodes.

The translator didn't just add " bitch" "slut" and the f word unnecessarily.

He also injected his opinion about certain characters using profanity.

It is a case of a translator projecting his own profanity-laced speaking onto characters.

Another English phrase comes to mind : " greedy pig" or "filthy pig"

The literal translation works just fine. English is not as basic as many think. It can be just as nuanced as Asian languages
