eh well he wasn't really innocent. He wasn't unarmed. the policemen had no way of telling whether it was a BB gun or not, and they gave plenty warnings for him to drop the weapon and stop advancing.

I'd argue the 2nd amendment was reasonable back in the 1700s when it was introduced. In 2000s though? It's fucking stupid. And no matter what people say about needing their guns to protect them, typically they turn every situation into a life or death one.

Also, protecting yourself from your government with guns? Don't make me laugh...

USA has too many problems in too many ways. It won't last for too long , and if it does, it has to change in some way, either more free or more strict.

That report makes it seem like they already know who sent the threat so hopefully this won’t become anything big. Good luck and stay safe OP!

I am not American and this is not a defense of the current state of the amendment but it made sense at the time it was written. They had just finished a revolution againist Britain as a militia so it would make sense they would consider a well armed militia and the peoples right to arms central to their country. Especially how guns at that point were not able to create mass acts of slaughter as they are now by the hand of a single individual. It made sense at the time at least but could have used a safety clause. However they could be wary of that as they don't know if people coming after could use that clause for tyranny. In the end my point in gun culture in America is tied to their history, but this doesn't excuse the state they are currently in now with obscene numbers of mass shootings.

They aren't, this is 1 judge.

Knives in the UK that are longer than 3 inches/7.6cm are illegal to carry. If you bought it from a shop, you should still have your receipt and you'll almost certainly have 0 reason to have removed it from the packaging.

Well the people who started the country didn't think about psychopaths and assault weapons back then. Hell they where lucky if their guns hit the broadside of a barn. It was one the many laws that were meant help citizens rise up against oppression and keep their families safe and not to be used to oppress others, but the law been so perverted by gun companies that it's nothing but tragic. Gun can be purchased by anyone to the point even the blind can own one or the mentally inept.

In terms of knives, not many.
    In terms of guns, 99%.

The average sentence for illegally carrying a knife/blade in the UK is approx 6 months.

If you are caught with a gun, even not loaded and no bullets or powder, you're looking at a minimum of 5 years. If you have ammunition, it goes up massively.

Most criminals don't have the intention to murder someone, the knife is there as a threat, also the criminal would rather survive if they get caught. Criminals using guns in the UK don't stand a particularly high chance of making it to jail alive.
