For those who haven't read it, you can find it here. Questions are: What made you like/dislike the novel? What is your favorite/hatest scenes in the novel? Any other comments? Mine is: I like the concept of the novel. But it could've been better. I don't really like how the plot is being recycled. All those chuni scenes. I laughed the first and few times that scene happened but after a few more... It's a funny satirical novel. I wish you could recommend other novels. Satires about otome games or romance. I'm in that kind of mood.
I like the fact that MC is clearly not right in the head I like his luck and how clueless he is about whatever mess he got himself in I like the plot of the novel (like how simple and classic it is but at the same time it is quite fun to read) As for recommendations (I don't know what you read and didn't so I am going to assume you don't know these ): Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? No Game No Life My House Is a Magic Power Spot ~Just by Living There I Become the Strongest in the World~ Martial King’s Retired Life The Legend of Sun Knight The Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich
I like the concept. Love the contrast of how cool, mysterious, and powerful he looks to the people around him, and the reality that he's just bluffing and have no idea what actually happened around him. I like the world building. Diabolos, the curse, the order, the powers in the shadow, the hero. Especially in the latter chapters where there are less jokes and the plots are featured more.
I like misunderstandings comedy. I don't like that current translations are below par... Hmm... I like the scene where he gets beaten up in the tournament or when he "steals" the money from gamma which was his in the first place. I don't like the fight with alpha. Hmm... ... cats are fuzzy? I recommend Tilia's Worries, it is similar, though not otome or romance... only downside to Tilia is the multipage essays analayzing what chunni is.
i like every thing so far i don't like how short the chapters are if you like this series, you might also like evil lord of galactic empire it's not as satirical as power in the shadow but it is also has a comedic misunderstanding and op mc
i like how the other misunderstand MC and i dislike how the MC not knowing it. take another novel as example "Mistaken as Geniuses" this novel have same vibe, but this one MC know that they misunderstood him. another example is "Trash of the Count Family" MC know they misunderstood him but he is ignoring them because it is convenient. if the MC in To Be a Power in the Shadows know that what he say became truth is become better i think. for example like Overlord, the MC just randomly said that conquer the world seems fun but the other subordinate think that the MC wants to conquer the world. that is my rambling please take it easy.
I loved the organization that formed around him and his desire to never be in the spotlight. I hated how he was objectively insane. His sister gets kidnapped and the people want to go save her but have no idea of where she is. The MC understands that she's kidnapped and may be killed or tortured, yet he decides to just keep playing make believe and throw a knife at a map randomly and claim she's there. Him having plot armor and actually being right is irrelevant, as far as he knew, she wasn't there and would never be found. He also kills people left and right that are actually bad, but as far as the MC is aware, he's jsut playing a game and pretending they're bad. The MC is so mental that it's outright disturbing to think about his rationale for anything he does. I also hate just how oblivious he is. There are extremely blatant signs that he has an entire organization built around supporting him, but the author's insistence on making him a lone wolf forces the MC to never know what's going on and actively works against his own people at times out of stupidity. You can't be a mastermind in the shadows if you're too dumb to know you have followers. The author just wants to keep reusing the same gimmicks over and over so he can't allow the MC to figure anything obvious out. It must always be that he's plot armor stumbling his way through everything with everything somehow working out best for him in the end. It's a series I had so much hope for and really enjoyed at first, but then fails to actually go anywhere with the buildup and relies on the MC's eternal stupidity.
eh this is someone that repeatedly hit head at a tree to see if magic is true in the original world so I don't really surprised. I even suspected that he lost so many brain cell after doing that and got hit by a car.
The concept of the story seemed pretty cool. I like Tilea's Worries which does much the same thing and I like misunderstanding comedies in general. However, I hated the first chapter of Shadows, I hated the second chapter of Shadows, I can't think of a reason to continue reading, but there were quite a few to drop it.
I like the fact that the main character is OP as hell and it's generally quite funny. My favorite scene is any scene that shows the main character being the OP guy he is. I can see how people can get bored, tired, or annoyed by the recycled scenes but at some point you just run out of enough things to read. I had pretty reached the pinnacle of boredom and tried reading this but it turned out to be quite a match for me. So my personal advice is to look through each and every single one of the novels until you find one that you like. Repeat the cycle and you pretty much will never run out of novels you like. I think I just contradicted myself.......
