This was riveting. I am not sure whether to laugh or cry. People criticized Disney for cutting ties with the "great one" but actions have consequences.
I am not sure whether to laugh or cry

"The gunman, who killed 51 people and injured 50 more in the attack in March 2019, shouted "subscribe to PewDiePie" before opening fire in a mosque."

It is scary that people treat Youtube celebrities and talk show hosts like journalist when they dont have journalistic integrity or lack of bias which is required for journalists.

I know he is pretty popular on here since I saw a few threads

    Well, I hear it's delicious.
Everyone is a "journalist" these days and people live in echo boxes
Sad but true. Journalism should be held to higher standards.
Some are just propaganda arms of governments.
But with modern journalism, anyone with a YouTube channel is a "journalist".
This is just a good example of the consequences.
People are looking for validation and some are crazy.
That is why most true journalism stories have disclaimers.
Reuters was criticized for not using words like "terrorists".
That might actually be a good thing in hindsight.
Although let's be clear most people are just celebrity talk show hosts passing off as journalists without even the appropriate degree.

You can't control your following if the fanbase is so diverse.
PewDiePie wants to show how much views he can get with crazy stuff.
He targets all kind of people with his controversies.
People want to see how far he could get.
This together with his curious personality, motivated him to do crazy stuff.
This made me interested into watching some of his videos at least.
I can't say I agree with some his opinions.
But I don't think he wants his fandom to hurt others.
All humans sometimes say stuff or do stuff that hurts others but without the intention.
If you intend to hurt others you should be judged by others, but otherwise why is everyone making a big fuss.

I think a lot of people take his 'news and facts' as real.
Just like news websites. (Seriously take news especially on the internet. with a grain of salt. Half of it is made interesting on purpose to get your attention)

I found it weird this so called journalist doesn't use the proper word cause because they might offend snowflakes even they are the truth.

I heard about tweet blaming the airplane instead of terrorist since it is offensive lol. It like blaming games for violence.

I think not using those words are just ignoring the truth. It's pretty pathetic if you ask me

Okay, enough with the lame ass jokes.

*sees all the hate on here for journalism*

Personally, I think whether or not you can trust the media depends on the country you’re from and the source of the information. The BBC, which Wuji is citing to, are extremely well known for their legitimate journalism. Saying that all media is fake really shouldn’t be true, unless you come from a country that suppresses the media.

Refusing to call terrorists as terrorists is taking it too far but the sources could be biased.
My point is that, will you ever get the other side of the story when you already labeled them as terrorists?
I doubt they would let journalists interview them if they called them terrorists.
The point is to be neutral.
Instead of saying" A group of terrorists attacked a building"
"A group considered as terrorists attacked a building" is more apt
but I have seen others criticizing journalists for being too neutral and not calling out lies for lies as they are.

Most newspapers have failed, even talk show hosts like John Oliver have adapted since one businessman can own multiple newspapers, it is difficult to find news stories criticizing businesses.
With so many sponsored stories being passed off as news when they are just Public Relations pieces

With great power comes great responsibility as the wise Ben Parker said :blobninja:
Social power is a big deal.
Someone like him can pressure companies to be more green for example.

BBC is heavily biased against India, tho. They're always trying to paint India in bad light with their selective and misleading reports. Ask any Indian. Or u can Google it up. Not that our country's native news agencies fare much better, but when it comes to domestic news, they're more reliable, at least compared to most Western media (esp. BBC, The NYT, etc.).

Okay. Then, can we agree that the BBC is a legitimate news source except when it comes to certain issues such as India?
