Burning Feathers. This groop makes a good work for translating "Manuke FPS". But damn why are they so annoying with useless comments in a middle of text ?

Dear translators and editors if you read this so please could you just put your fantasticaly helpfull remarks in a bottom of chapter. Or in comment section. Cause your actions are super annoying.

 

Uhh okay don't know if this warranted a thread. When I read translation critique, I thought you meant for translators in general. Like add a dash when applying titles or something. This would probably have been better placed on their site. Not much use here.

 

There were post about it too on their site. Do you know their reaction? They dont give a shit.

Sometimes you meet prima donnas. Maybe start your own website and translate it without comments in the middle of the chapter.
Humans don't take criticism well even when it's obviously to their benefit. That is why being indirect is preferred or offering a reward eg I will donate $5 if you stop leaving comments in the middle of a chapter

 

If they didn't pay attention when you posted there, then I don't think they are going to notice this. Maybe if you had placed their name in the title?..... Good luck on your quest to change how they format their translations?

 

I'm kind of torn on this. Once in a while the mid-translation comments are fun, informative, or useful. The rest of the time, I'll admit, they break the flow of reading and immersion in the book.

I wish they would add those comments, rather than at the bottom since by that point if I decide to read them I have no clue what they are referencing, but rather make them superscript that only shops up if you mouse over the number, creating a floating tooltip. That way they are in a good spot to be relevant but still out of the flow of the read unless a user chooses to engage with the superscript.

Its their site and their translation. A simple lecher should just read and move on.

I don't even know whose to blame here. All I see are pebbles by the roadside. All I see are pebbles in front of me.

 

On a side note dose anyone know how to code a word so that when you click on it or scroll over it a word or image pops up? I've always wanted to know and most people just use a plug in. Inspect element hasn't been as helpful as I'd hoped.

 

Yes.
One of the translator for Magi's Grandson did put a ton of comments inbetween chapters with their own critism/comments. Didnt bother me at all and luckily they change it a bit and put up commentless chapters.

Its fun to read and somehow relate or contradict to such comments. I even watch reactions to anime episodes and manga chapters and its fun to watch.

The only thing that bugs me are those sudden ads/video ads and those inbetween next to read recommendations in some sites.

 

Sorry, you are in the minority. Comments in between chapters ruins immersion.
At least ads are different from text( well we have text ads lol)
You can remove ads with ad blockers
You cant remove translator comments without going through a lot of hassle.
These amateur translators have zero pride in their work.
It is a translation, not a chat group with friends.
But hey as long as people like you exist, they will continue even though any professional will tell you that it is just wrong.

Well its a choice. If someone wants to read that novel, its tolerable than using google translate to a hundred chapters.
Well its still a chapter to read with such comments rather than having a novel rot in the pick up requests forum for months or years and be forgotten.

 

Not really, you are overestimating some of these translators. Most are beautifully MTL edited crap. It reads wonderfully but it is just fanfiction.
You are not reading what the author wrote.
This is the amateur scene yes, but we should have standards.
It is laughable and pathetic to be honest

 

You're talking about Wujigege, his post history is filled with rants on how people should do translation his way so there really isn't a point in engaging him if you have a difference of opinion. It's also why I boycott his Asian Hobbyist, too much assholery.
