I'm conflicted by Miss Su. On one hand, she does treat our CL well. But this is the second (?) time that she didn't stand up for CL because some other family member basically said that it's not worth it -- basically, it's not worth her time to defend CL.

The only girl beaten to death was the servant, but I'm not really sure what he wants to talk about with her.

The Imperial Concubine's servant girl. Who was just beaten to death on the emperor's orders (offscreen), presumably for screaming and offending the emperor/accusing her betters of wrongdoing without evidence.

 

i find it sad that she gets beaten to death while the person who made her do it only plenty was being grounded for a month. That is a mess up system.

 

....Well, yeah. That's the way Imperial China/Japan/feudalism works. There was no fairness by any stretch of the imagination. It's why in Doomed to be Cannon Fodder, the MC is constantly worried about her status as she doesn't really have any backers and that's an easy way to get shafted. And servants are the pawns of their masters, which is why servants are always hoping to find good ones.

 

I really hope she uses the money she makes from the restaurant being really successful to hire a better bodyguard. Her maids are too out of their league when it comes to fighting and currently it seems like anyone with decent martial arts can just knock out her maids and isolate her.

 

Eh, I'm not the biggest fan of the latest chapters. I see no reason for her to give up her maids who know her recipes when she could just tell the idiot to visit the restaurant she's about to open. She's literally giving them away for free for no reason and with nothing to gain. Just poor foolishness.

 

Chu Lian didn't really get attached to her recipe. Besides, what the maids learn just small portion of Chu Lian knowledge. I think Chu Lian just want to choose which one the loyal maid, which one the unloyal one. With this move, she's found her loyal maid and she can solve the matriach problem too.

 

I wonder why Chu Lian didn't take this chance to make the old duke a frequent customer to her restaurant. This quite disappointing

 

Don't worry. I am sure the old duke (if he's stay alive long enough) will become Chu Lian's loyal customer. Chu Lian just need to create more new dishes and old duke will be run to Guilin Restaurant faster than his horse.

 

I think this is just a test of loyalty. Why keep someone who isn’t loyal? Also, I for sure don’t think she’s going to teach them ALL her recipes, especially not the recipes that’s going to showcased in the restaurant. I’m going to also think compared to Chu Lian - She doesn’t have the huge database of recipes nor does she have any real talent to recreate recipes even if she tried to eat at Chu lians restaurant not that she actually could. I think this more of a loss leader situation - where you take a small hit to come out on top later on.
