    So, if Cale sets the dry lake bed a blaze with the alchemical fire. First there will be shock and awe, along with a lot of debate about their god's return and its state of contentment with the local events. However, soon people will notice that the massive fire produced a micro-climate of warmth which is melting the snow and permafrost in the surrounding area.

    The water flows and collects in the conveniently located lake bed. Of course, plain water can't put out the alchemical fire. The water boils over and creates a permanent cloud around the region which traps the heat. This warm humidity enlarges the range of the micro-climate and causes the adjacent glaciers to also start to melt. The lake bed is receiving more water than what is boiled off by the alchemical fire, so it is slowly becoming a lake of water again.

    The Paerun Kingdom's philosophers are confused: "big fire" = god is upset, but "lake full of water" = god is approving?


    Edit: :facepalm: I forgot the one quote that led to this train of thought.
