For those who haven't read either or both of the works involved, here are their synopsis:

    Tower of God [webtoon]
Tower of God centers around a boy called Twenty-Fifth Bam, who has spent most of his life trapped beneath a vast and mysterious Tower, with only his close friend, Rachel, to keep him company. When Rachel enters the Tower, Bam manages to open a door into it as well, and faces challenges at each floor of this tower as he tries to find his closest companion.
    Small spoilers:
He meets Rachel before Season 1 ends, on the 2nd floor
Bam is an Irregular, meaning he enters the Tower by opening the door himself, as opposed to most others who are chosen and summoned.
Spoilers about the nature of Irregulars
Only Irregulars are exempt from the contract Jahad (a powerful Irregular who is now King of a vast Empire) struck with the Tower Guardians that made him immortal. Thus, only an Irregular can kill Jahad. This fact drives much of the plot in Tower of God.

    Second Life Ranker [novel]
Yeon-woo had a twin brother who disappeared five years ago. One day, a pocket watch left by his brother returned to his possession. Inside, he found a hidden diary in which was recorded “By the time you hear this, I guess I will be already dead….”
Obelisk, the Tower of the Sun God, a world where several universes and dimensions intersect. In this world, his brother had fallen victim to betrayal while climbing up the tower. After learning the truth, Yeon-woo decided to climb the tower along with his brother’s diary.
“From now on, I am Jeong-woo Cha.”

Someone trying to start drama? really weird, seeing how all novels borrow from each other and they are different enough to stand on their own?

Neither ToG or SlR invented the tower challenge plot. There are some similarities that make SlR look like an homage to ToG as referenced in the Reddit post, but its not a rip off or stolen story by a pretty good margin

Ive read both I dont see a shameless copy just some similarities in terms of terms used
    storywise they are pretty different
its not as though tog owns all tower elements used and no other series can use 100 floors etc

Yeah, I was baffled when I saw it...

Craziest part is that thread's OP said that the concept of "Families" was stolen from ToG. That made me crack up. :ROFLMAO:

I remember tower of duraga doing the tower stuff even before tog. Plus I'm sure the concept has roots quite a bit older than that

Wasn't there some similar drama regarding Dungeon Defense? Absolute nonsense claims that it was plagiarism because of themes shared by lots of novels? What's up with Korea these days?

By that OP's logic, every single fiction is plagiarizing each other.
    Clearly someone is just baiting.

I wonder if he has ever read jp or cn novels lol.

People just want their favorite story to be unique and the best, and anything that is similar is just stealing from it's greatness.

Can't tell since I haven't read ToG, but this comment from OP doesn't do any good to his credibility.

I'm pretty sure tower of druaga was the 1st one since it was from the game of the same name

Until now many believe that there are no 2 similar korean novels as compared to chinese novel many of which seem carbon copy of other novel or novels.
It just that not enough korean novels were translated so translators had option to choose from different variety of novel. Now that many of korean genre novels are translated and due to popularity of initial "types" of korean novels , many of their "types" of other korean novels are being translated.
It's just advent of korean novels.

Don't you mean, "seeing as how none of them are original and all just copy each other in the first place" ?

And for the record one of the best webnovels I've read was Warlock of the Magus World, and that has like the entire first arc or two (or whatever it was) plagiarized from The Wizard World. Like literal plagiarization and not just being "inspired" or "coming up with the same idea by pure coincidence" like most other copy cats.

Anyway, basically every singe KR novel is all about money, MC is in debt and have to pay off some loan while being harassed by loan sharks, usually has some sick relative i.e. mother/grandparent/sister or whatever, lots of fake drama and then the rest depends on the genre. (Though obviously Tower of God isn't about that, so it might seem ironic for me to say this.)

Tower climbing or dungeon crawler is basically a genre in itself.

There will be always many stories with similar genres, it's just how the author writes them is more important.

The whole thing is troupe setting. Climbing a tower to get stronger. Plagarizing is an exact ripoff. Parody is more like it. And dungeon diving or tower climbing isn't new, its Korea, have you not seen some of their other works.

The re-occuring theme is the drive to get stronger, sometimes haphazardly and sometimes at the cost of minor or major characters.

I mean as for Tower style / Dungeon diving troupes (Korean titles):
    The World after the Fall
    The Tutorial is too hard
Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society (chapter links are dead)
    Acquiring Talent in a Dungeon
Seoul Station's Necromancer (chapter links are dead)
    Dungeon Hunter
    Swordmaster Healer
    Level-up
    Evolution theory of the hunter

I mean the scene has a lot of these troupes. The Korean titles lately all have similarities, if it isn't related to getting stronger for personal gain, then it's probably something related to status and cheabol families.
