So as of recent I have had trouble remembering words. Nothing serious, but it is bugging the hell out of me. I know what I want to say and I know what it is, but I can't remember the word that is supposed to describe it, and unfortunately using different words isn't as effective as using the one that is supposed to be used. Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve working memory or the sorts? Or at the very least, know of a good way to remember stuff?
IKR sometimes I feel like Dory and im all like "Nothing in my Noggin! Can't remember squat... Diddly Squat!"
Nice profile pic. Also my memories is probably worst than yours. I don't have long term memory only short term. Sometimes i can't even remember what I'm doing and just blank out. However, ever since i started meditating my memory is getting better. You can also try sports and exercise.
There are exercises for memory, just Google it...(if you're not lazy (like I am) because it needs lots of repeating to see some difference) Have the same problem. To lazy to deal with it "Orz
Sadly me too , got the same problem. But that happened due my imbalance lifestyle. Sleep late and not enough.
memories depends on how often we try to remember that said incident or the impact it has/had on you. its easier to remember incidents, places than some alphabetically arranged nonsense which you once read somewhere. which in your case are words.
Stop using mobile phones. That's the gist of it. The main point is, stop relying on mobile phones/ipads/tablets or the likes. If you can survive without it for half a year, your memories should improve towards the better. Edit: And start doing daily hand-written journals. Emphasize on hand-written.
Decrease TV viewing time or anything related. Your brain activity decreases when watching TV shows. Same with computer games.
Thanks, and I also sometimes get that feeling as well. One moment I'll be taking out the trash and then the next I'll be setting that trash bag down on my bed. Then I proceed to go "Wait! What am I doing!" and then whip that bag off my nice clean bed.
Yes. Only a small portion of your brain is funtioning when you are doing these kinds of activities. The unused parts of the brain "die" if they are continually inactive.
You could try making it like a game. Every word that you learn or want to remember, link it to some other things. The more links, the more paths you can follow to find that word again. The more paths that work when you test them, the better you are doing at the game. Pick a color, a sound, an image, and a feeling to associate with it. After that, try linking different words together, either in groups or one by one. Like, if I think I'll forget the word xxxx, but I'll remember yyyy, then I try to find a way yyyy and xxxx are related. When I forget xxxx, I'll go to yyyy and try to follow the link I set up earlier to get to xxxx. I think that might be why it sometimes seems weird when I respond to the word association thread... *gazes into the distance*
