    Story one:

"Move! Get your buts out of that hole and advance if you want to live! You hear me grunts!" Shouted the C.O. Of the regular militaries 127th tactical assault unit, Commander Sephieus Klien. Just seconds after Sephieus shouted his advance order a razor bomb grenade landed in the small crater that four of his men were located in and detonated a second later killing all four instantly in a hail of razors. The shockwave from the razor bomb knocked Sephieus off his feet and against a concrete wall, though after a half a minute Sephieus was on his knees trying to catch his breath. Suddenly Sephieus felt a hand under his arm and was promptly lifted to his feet, and pulled out of the line of fire. "You okay soldier?" Asked an unfamiliar voice. No it was familiar voice, it was the voice of Korey Aidonoliese. "Are you okay soldier?" Korey asked again before he reached around a corner with his M8(c) assault rifle and fired several rounds in through a firing hole that was being used by a guerilla Mg-42 gun nest and struck its operators killing them and creating an opening for the rest of Commander Sephieus' men to regroup on their position. To the untrained eye it looked like Korey was firing blind, but infact he was using a fiberoptic link that transmitted visual data from video gunsight to a small heads up display that was integrated into his helmet. Now after the last of Sephieus' unit regrouped with their commander and Korey the retreat flare was seen rising in the sky. "So we were just sent here to die?! How am I going to make amends with the families of those soldiers who's lives were wasted?" Sephieus ranted as he retreated into the back of an armored personnel carrier that was covering the 127ths retreat with a constant smoke screen. Once inside the APC Sephieus hissed under his breath and violently threw off his tactical helmet; seconds later Korey picked up the helmet and placed it next to the commander. "By going Back and finishing your mission, those troopers knew what they were getting into, and they still tried to get the mission finished." After a short deep breath Korey went and sat infront of Sephieus. "After we get back to frontline base D-4, you and the remaining members of your unit will restock and rearm then head back to knock down the entrance of that facility, but this time you guy's will be receiving some backup!" Upon hearing that his unit was to return to the frontline with support Commander Sephieus looked up and stared into Korey's eyes, but was met with the reflection from Korey's visor. "I take it that's why your here! You a lowlife mercenary dog, have been contracted as my units backup!" Sephieus suddenly looked at the visible part of the scars on the right side of Korey's face then smirked. "But you don't really need the money do you? Aidonoliese!" After a minute Korey started to chuckle as he reached up and removed his helmet revealing his cold steelish blue eyes. "I guess it has been awhile Klien!" Korey responded as the APC closed its entrance and fired up its twin turbo diesel engines so it could transport its passengers to the frontline base.

When the surviving members of the 127th and Korey Aidonoliese arrived at frontline base D-4, the enlisted troopers were the first to exit followed by Korey but was quickly pulled to the side by Sephieus who stared him down seriously. "Why are you here Korey? And don't tell me it's just to see some old friends!" In response Korey smiled silently before slipping a crystal data drive into Sephieus' hand, then turned and walked to a nearby mobile hangar used specifically by Unit 07 personnel. As Korey left for the Unit 07 mobile hangar, Sephieus headed towards the private quarters with the data crystal in hand. Once inside his quarters Sephieus slid the data crystal into the proper slot on a terminal, which powered it up automatically and began to display an audio passcode. "Voice authorization: Romeo, alpha, gamma, echo, 1337" After several seconds the screen blinked black and a bold white text appeared stating that the code was accepted. Immediately intel began to stream on screen, but Sephieus ignored the bulk of the intel and paid close attention to the four corners of the screen.
A half an hour later Sephieus regrouped back with his unit and Korey. "I'll meet you and the 127th at way point delta." Korey said as he headed towards the helepad and boarded what looked like a modified blackhawk. As for Sephieus he and the rest of the 127th tactical assault unit, they reboarded the APC that brought them back to the base, and headed back to the guerilla base.

Four hours later Sephieus and his unit were at a temporary camp at waypoint delta yet Korey was nowhere to be seen. It was around midday when Korey came walking over a small hill and entered the camp heading straight for Sephieus. Once at Sephieus' tent Korey let out a cough then entered only to be met with a glare and a few key members of the 127th. "Good I see we are all here so shall we begin the meeting? Korey spoke plainly, no humor in his voice or eyes. A soldier soon raised their hand and flicked a switch that dimmed the lights as Korey revealed a portable terminal with a holographic projection display. "Alright as you know we are to attack a defensive missile facility that is under guerilla control, and according to military intel the site is capable of only short range launches so only Aurios was at risk." As Sephieus spoke Korey manipulated the controls of the terminal to bring up both text and visual data inline with what Sephieus was talking about for the others in the tent to see. "But thanks to new intell provided by Korey and Unit 07's Intelligence Department, we have learned that the guerilla army transferred a group of scientists and engineers along with a large amount of supplies into the facility a few weeks ago. According to what pictures could be taken the majority of the supplies that were transferred to the base lead us to believe that the guerilla army is n the process of upgrading the missile launchers, and the missiles themselves into medium range ICBMs." Just as Sephieus finished speaking, Korey pulled up those exact pictures and then paused letting the information, and the gravity of the situation sink in.

"Uh, Commander Klien, may I ask a question?" A soldier raised their hand as they spoke. "I take it we're going on a new mission?" Korey chuckled lightly a he pointed to the trooper indicating that that he wanted to know the troopers name. "That's Captain Mier. My sniper." Responded Sephieus. "Mier, your close on your guess. You are going to knock down the front door of that facility, with me as your support; but don't waste your ammo cause immediately afterwards it begun a Unit 07 operation, and you guys are my backup!" Korey spoke calmly and stared the captain in the eyes. After a couple quick strokes of the keys on the terminal the images turned into a blue prints of the missile facility and an estimation of the guerilla forces located inside. "To make things clear these are not the exact blueprints of that facility, they are of a sister site on the opposite side of Aurios. So there will be quite a few actual differences that will be seen once inside." Korey took a deep breath and briefly closed his eyes before passing out combat grade data crystals. "Insert those into your tactical helmets, they will automatically sync our HUDs, and upload all the data that you have seen here for you to call up when necessary." After another hour of discussion the entire group left and got some much needed rest.

Four o'clock the following the usual silence was shattered by the sounds of mortar fire which was directed against the guerilla controlled missile facility. The mortar barrage lasted around thirty minutes and left a dirt and smoke screen that blocked the sight of the guerilla forces that were peering out of the firing holes of the missile facility entrance. In amongst the smoke and dirt cloud was the 127th tactical assault unit and Korey, who were using both thermal vision and a new silent echo vision to move right up against the entrance. It took Sephieus, and the 127ths explosives expert five minutes to wire several breach charges onto several key locations. By the time the cloud dissipated Korey and the 127th were stacked against three different future openings; three seconds later the three breach charges went off simultaneously, killing those closest, maiming others, and stunning even more. During the turmoil the 127th immediately rushed in and secured the surviving members of the guerilla army that were guarding the entrance. Within seconds of the clash coming to an end, Korey rushed in with four large cases and several duffel bags that were filled with the necessary supplies to make defensive fortifications. During the construction of the fortifications Korey clasped a hand onto Sephieus' shoulder signaling that it was time for the second operation. Immediately Sephieus gave the go signal and all the people that were in Sephieus' tent the previous day inserted the data crystals into their tactical helmets and advanced into the facility in a diamond formation, except for Sephieus who stayed behind as planned to command the defensive fortifications and monitor Korey's advance.

Around three miles into the facility the formation split and took up firing lines along the walls and ambushed a four man guerilla fire squad buy using silenced ppsh40 machine pistols. "Alright single line I'm on point, Mier you got center support, and Liam covers the rear." Korey instructed in a low voice that could barely be heard over the units comm system, which meant that any guerilla soldier in earshot wouldn't know what was going on even if they strained to try and pick up on the voices. Silently the squad of eight moved deeper and deeper into the facility till Korey stopped and dropped to his knee and raised his fist into the air just high enough for the squad he was with to see. Quickly Korey skimmed through the blueprints of the sister facility then issued a private comm to Mier's. "Mier's take your spotter and go down this side path about 20 feet, there you'll see some piping that will let you go up another 15 feet, there you will take up overwatch position. Don't forget to keep the silencer attached to the M21 so you won't be spotted." Korey grinned lightly as Mier's responded with a double click on the comm channel then nudged his spotter's shoulder signaling that it was time to move. In a matter of seconds Mier's and his spotter were already at the pipes, Mier then sent three rapid clicks over the comm to signal that he was halfway to the designated spot.

After Mier's and his spotter split off Korey signaled of the rest of the squad to advance. By this time the squad reached the main missile control center. "Alright Liam take your partner and set the necessary charges, you have 90 seconds and one chance only. Everyone else take up firing and strafing positions at the entrances. Hur..." Korey immediately turned and snapped the gunsight of his M8(c) assault rifle on one of the entrances to the Missile control center. Silently Korey activated his comm and signaled Mier and his spotter."Overwatch ready?" Korey whispered, seconds later he was acknowledged with a double click. "Good, we got company. Have your spotter secure your escape route." Within seconds Korey could hear the rapid and heavy footsteps of a guerilla army platoon. "Overwatch has free reign!" This command signaled Mier that he was able to fire at any enemy target he got his sites on. Liam then signaled that the charges were set with a couple of low whistles, he then took up a defensive position facing the opposite entrance with his modified MG-43 Light Machine gun. It was around three long agonizing minutes before the guerilla army platoon tried to storm the control center. As soon as the barrel of a guerilla held MP5 submachine gun rounded the corner, One of the soldiers that was positioned next to Korey pre sighted where the tango's head would be with their own MP5 and fired one armor piercing round through the wall and into the tango's right temple killing him immediately.

After about two minutes of wave onslaughts by the guerilla army platoon Sephieus' voice came over Korey's Comm system. "Korey I need a sitrep." Immediately Korey broadcasted a video feed from his gunsight to Sephieus showing that they were engaged in combat. "This is overwatch, you have a 20 second opening at the south entrance." Upon hearing this Korey lightly nudged Liam who inturn lead the squad out of the room with Korey covering the rear. Just before he exited Korey dropped two smoke grenades and switched to thermal sights and popped off several more rounds towards the north entrance. "Overwatch, this is Core. Switch to EM sights and fire an explosive round into the main charge, then fall back. We will meet you and your spotter at the entrance." Korey didn't even wait for a response from Mier before he charged off after the rest of the squad.

Korey and the majority of the squad were sprinting down a key hallway when they both heard and felt an explosion. After 20 more feet of sprinting the squad stopped for Liam to plant some claymores and trip wire explosives to slow down any pursuers then continued to sprint back towards the entrance tossing a few incendiary grenades into some side passages along the way. A third of the way from the entrance and the tripwire bombs went off but the squad still didn't stop. It wasn't until one of the squadmembers let out a yelp of pain and fell to the ground with a couple bullets lodged in their leg that Korey skidded to a stop facing the wounded soldier and three guerilla army platoons. With out saying a word Korey switched his M8(c) to full auto and fired into the platoons as he ran towards the crawling soldier. "Core this is overwatch. I got your six!" Suddenly four of the guerilla soldiers fell dead with gaping holes in their bodies. Mier was back at the entrance and using a 50 caliber sniper rifle to devastate the advancing platoons. The sudden loss of groups of their men caused the Guerilla soldiers to stop in their tracks, giving Korey enough time to grab the wounded soldier by their harness and drag them to the defensive fortifications. "Everyone's here! Alright hit it major!" Sephieus commanded one of the soldiers who activated explosives that were located all over the tops and sides of the entrance, causing the tunnel to collapse infront of the 127th. After tending to the wounded soldier Korey stood up and walked to Sephieus with a grin on his face. "Congratulations commander, you and your troopers are going to receive several commendations for this." Sephieus could only look at Korey with a confused expression cause Korey cut him off to explain everything in detail to the entire unit. "Officially this operation was under military control. My role in disabling key systems of the facility was to be a secret. So I brought in your unit as the cover story. The 127th Tactical Assault Unit led by Commander Sephius Klein, successfully stormed and disabled the guerilla controled missile facility. With little in the terms of casualties." Korey then stood silently as he removed his helmet and looked each soldier in the eyes. "Sephieus you were right. It wasn't about money, I have plenty; I was hired to insure that the mision was completed." Within a few minutes later a couple transport choppers came in to pick up the 127th and took them back to frontline ba e D-4 for some rest; but Korey walked back towards where the temporary camp site was and uncovered the blackhawk that he rode in on. Once inside Korey powered up the main systems and open a comm channel to Unit 07 Hq. "This is Core, mission accomplished also all the members of the 127th would make ideal members in Unit 07." and with that Korey piloted the chopper back home.

    Story 2:

"WARNING!" The light continuously blinked and the alarm blazed as a missile streaked past the cockpit and narrowly missed the rear canards of the F/A-18 multirole jet. That missile would have impacted and annihilated the cockpit and pilot, if the pilot didn't bank and roll the jet to the left causing the tail to flair out just enough to dodge, while still chasing his prey. Finally the alarm stopped blaring as the jet that targeted the F/A-18 tried to maneuver into a better firing position to hopefully lodge a missile into it's exhaust port. Meanwhile the pilot of the F/A-18 throttled up to max, kicked in his after burners and caught up to his original target a wounded C-130 cargo plane that belonged to the nation of Verdan. The pilot then switched to his XMAA missiles and waited until he had a good solid tone from his FCS. Within seconds from the tones going solid, two XMAA missiles streaked from the bottom of the F/A-18s fuselage and struck the cargo planes underbelly and detonated within seconds of each other. The force of the two explosion caused the fuselage of the C-130 to tear open and detonate' destroying the plane and killing all crew. Immediately the pilot of the F/A-18 rolled to the left and pulled back on the stick turning the jet 180 degrees and proceeded to target the Verdan escort fighter that targeted him earlier. This jet was a Mirage-2000 though a highly agile fighter, it lacked the maneuverability that the F/A-18 had when it came to combat maneuvering. Though in a dogfight what was most important was the pilots skills and not the specifications of the jet. Both the F/A-18 and the Mirage-2000 were hurdling towards each other at maximum combat speed, as of now both jets were headed towards each other playing a game of chicken. The pilot of the F/A-18 switched from his XMAAs to his sidewinders and proceeded to target the Mirage-2000. As soon as the missile warning lights clicked on in the cockpit of the mirage-2000 its pilot quickly banked to the left and exposed the lower fuselage of his jet. A fatal error on the pilots part, for the pilot of the F/A-18 switched to his 50 cal. Machine guns and peppered the undercarriage of the Mirage-2000. Several rounds penetrated the Mirage-2000s fuel tank and causes it to detonate, the pilot then ejected and glided away from the jet before it erupted into a complete fireball. The F/A-18 circled the jettisoned pilot of the Mirage-2000, and then headed back to his assigned airbase.

30 seconds into the F/A-18s return the pilots vision started to static and then blinked out. Slowly the pilot reached up and unstrapped his helmet and removed it revealing the interior of a combat simulator pod. Smoothly the person inside flipped a series of switches and opened the exit of the pod then stepped out. The person was dressed in a full flight suit excluding the helmet, instead he was wearing a black baseball cap that had the letters RADF in blood red and were outlined in a bright orange. Those letters meant that he was an official soldier in the Rauzian Air Defense Force, a pilot. Seconds later the man that was piloting the virtual F/A-18 was jumped by a similarly dressed man that was originally situated in the simulator control room. "That was some pretty fancy flying there Karrington, but why do you always choose aircraft that are a disadvantage?" pressed the man that was in the control room. In response The pilot, Karrington, smiled and waited a few seconds before responding. "To constantly rely on newer and better technology will slowly dull the edge of our awareness. So I chose the weakest craft I could think of to pilot in the training, that way I could keep that edge razor sharp." With that Karrington stepped around the other man and made his way towards the mess hall in order to grab a quick bite of food before hitting the rack for some sleep. The following morning Karrington did the usual airman's workout routine before making his way to the hangar. Halfway to the aircraft hangar Karrington met up with his wingman Michael Sanders. When Karrington and Sanders reached the hangar the both went to their assigned planes a couple F-35s and proceeded to examine them to make sure they were flight ready. Once the inspection was complete both pilots proceeded to taxi their aircraft out of the hangar and onto the runway, but instead of screaming down the tarmac both jets checked their flaps and then proceeded to lift off vertically. Once in the air both jets proceeded to patrol the western border of Rauzia. Both Pilots were not expecting much when it came to seeing combat but they still kept a keen eye on their radar.

The country of Rauzia was in a state of cold war with the nation of Verdan. Both nations were politically fighting over the rights to an oil drill site. This site would be able to produce enough oil to keep every home in either one of the nations warm for at least a few decades. Normally both nations would threaten each other with the possibility of war in order to keep things even. So when it came to patrols jets from either nation would not cross a set series of coordinates that designated the borders. At this time Karrington and Sanders were on the final leg of their patrol route when sanders piped in over the radio. "Heads up we have a few unidentified aircraft coming towards us on intercept trajectories. Estimated time to contact is five minutes." "what's the count?" Karrington asked before radioing headquarters about the detected intruders. "plus four, as far as I can tell." "alright lets move in closer and see if we can I.D. them, but we do not engage in combat." "roger" With that the two F-35s increased speed and headed towards the four aircraft. Once the four aircraft were in visible range, Sanders began broadcasting on an unencrypted frequency. "Attention unknown aircraft, you have entered Rauzian airspace, please turn back around, or come with us to the nearest airbase. If you understand and acknowledge please lower your landing gears and lower your altitude to 1500 feet. This is your warning" It took him a couple seconds but Karrington was able to recognize the silhouette of the four unknown aircraft as that of the Carrier based F-14a Tomcats.

Suddenly the master alarms went off in both Karringtons, and Sanders aircraft signaling that they were being targeted. "Evade, Evade!" cried out Sanders as the leading F-14s fired a salvo of missiles at both F-35s. In response Karrington and Sanders both rolled their craft in opposite directions evading the missile that was fired at them and sped past all four hostile aircraft to catch a glimpse of the emblem on the back of the planes. Both pilots quickly recognized the chimera head that symbolized the Military segment of the nation of Verdan. Immediately both Karrington and Sanders pulled back on the control sticks of their aircraft and turned 180 degrees rolling their craft into an upright position and pushed the acceleration of their jets to maximum, quickly gaining on the F-14s. Karrington carefully aimed for just above the leader of the formation of F-14s and fired a quarter second burst of machine gun fire over the intended targets canopy. "Attention Verdan fighters, Withdraw from this airspace immediately, or we will destroy you! This is your final warning!" Karrington spoke over an unencrypted channel. The way Karrington spoke caught all four of the hostile aircraft of guard, for his tone was calm, there was no trembling in his voice, so sign of fear or any other emotion for that matter. After around Thirty seconds all four Verdan aircraft accelerated and maintained their original course. "So be it." Karrington spoke to himself then radioed his wingman "Riker 3 this is Aegis 11, weapons hot, I repeat weapons hot!" With those two words, weapons hot, that meant that both he and Sanders can target and destroy the four intruders.

Sanders was the first to strike, he quickly accelerated and primed his Semi-active Air to Air Missiles (SAAM) then proceeded to target the trailing F-14. Once Sanders got a solid tone from his FCS he launched one SAAM and proceeded to track its course. The targeted F-14 quickly pulled up and climbed hoping that the missile would miss, but Sanders climbed after him, keeping a small circle on the F-14s exhaust, causing the SAAM to turn after the F-14 as well. This is only because the SAAM is a partial self guiding, partial remote controlled missile. As long as the Pilot keeps the target within the circle on his sites the SAAM will track. So unfortunately for the pilot of the F-14 he was unable to out maneuver either Sanders or the SAAM and was shot down. That left three F-14 jets versus two F-35s. "splash one, repeat, splash one" Sanders piped over the com. In response two of the F-14s broke formation and turned to engage the Karrington and Sanders head on. Karrington switched from his primary missiles to his Quick maneuvering Air to Air Missiles (QUAAM) and fired two salvo's, one salvo per jet. Both F-14s broke and climbed but the missiles followed. Both F-14s started to turn at extreme angles to try and break the QUAAMs lock but was unable to, for the QUAAMs were designed as dogfighting missiles, so they tracked their targets with a cruel efficiency and kept both jets distracted as the F-35s sped past towards the remaining F-14. Within a few seconds the previous two F-14 pilots made a mistake in their flying allowing the QUAAMs to catch up and lodge themselves into the exhaust ports of both jets mid-roll, leaving just the one F-14 being pursued by the F-35s.

"You go high, I'll go low!" Sanders spoke over the com to Karrington and then dove low to sneak up under the F-14; in the mean time Karrington climbed high and practically hid himself in the glare of the sun and sped towards the F-14, his targeting reticule aimed just behind the cockpit. Seconds later Karrington opened fire with his machine guns and shredded the entire aft section of the F-14 leaving the pilot unharmed and able to eject. "So now we're at war... Guess it was time." Karrington thought to himself as he circled the sole surviving F-14 pilot and then returned to base to refuel.

Back at the Rauzian airbase Karrington and Sanders were sitting in the mess hall eating a late lunch when a group of pilots that were sitting infront of the halls only Television roared in surprise when the program that they were watching was interrupted by the news. A female reporter around 30 years of age appeared on screen "We are truly sorry for this interruption but we come to you live with this astonishing news. As of 9:30 this morning the nation of Verdan has declared war on Rauzia. This declaration was followed immediately by a border breach of four F-14a Tomcats that belonged to the 125th Verdan Airial Taskforce. The sudden breach was located and neutralized by a patrol unit that belonged to the 83rd Rauzian Air Defense Force. The names of the pilots will not be released according to official sources." Karington ignored the rest of the broadcast and let out an irritable sigh as he dropped his fork on to the empty tray. Karrington then quietly got up and walked out of the mess hall and towards the gym.
