Awww. If they were together they probably have alot of kids by now. Awww. I was curious how Riftan was holding up while max is away.

He did in fact see her off, but from afar on his horse where maxi didn't see him and he tried hard not to just run to her and stop her. But when the ship where Maxi was on slowly got more and more away from the port, he couldn't stand it anymore and ran to the port to jump into the sea, so that he can get to her, but his knights stopped him before he could do that. He struggled to get free from them, but they holded him down and only when Hebaron told him, that it's too late, he collapsed down and said in a faint voice while crying, that it was a lie that he would not wait for her. it's really heartbreaking that he couldn't tell her that.

About the letters, it wasn't really described what she wrote, but just that she wrote how she is doing in the world tower and how much she misses him and how much she wished to go back to him. She always started to cry while written this letters. And I think it wasn't told if Riftan send letter to her, too, but I can't remember clearly

Awwww. This is so sad
I hate that they never say proper goodbye to each other every time they leave. After the first night and when Max left for the tower.
Riftan has become a grumpy cat.

So now I have some more time and tried translating the rest of chapter 193, that's the epilogue in Hebarons POV and I also tried to translate the first chapter of Part 2.

The weather has warmed beyond recognition in a few weeks. Sitting by the window of the lounge, looking out at the training station, where bright sunlight poured down, Hebaron breathed a deep sigh.

The wind was still cold, but the sun's light was clearly heating up. The season of water has come. (side note: season of water is spring, season of fire is summer, season of wind is fall and season of rest is winter)

As the number of visitors began to increase, Anatol was more energetic than ever. Merchants of the Southern Continent came into the southern port with all kinds of rare goods, and merchants of the Western Continent began rushing in to buy the goods they had brought.

But the fever of prosperity, which was blazing, seemed to run past the Calypse Castle. The atmosphere in the castle has been heavily depressed over the past few weeks.

"What are you doing without preparing yet?"

Herbaron, who had been lost in thought, turned his head away. Uslin Rykaido was coming down the stairs with his arms fully armed.

"Sir Nirta, Mrs. Calyps says she's ready to go."

"Already?"

He frowned out of the window and looked toward the gate. Two full carriages lined up. It made him realize that she was leaving here. He was blinking his eyes blankly, and Uslin's patience wore out.

"Are you going to keep Mrs. Calyps waiting? If you don't intend to go, stay here."

"Well, I'll just have to get ready and come down in a few minutes."

He grumbled and hurried up the stairs at a sleek pace that didn't fit his large build. Uslin's unusual attitude made him laugh inwardly. Who knew he'd change his attitude? Hebaron, who wore armor with a quick skill, smiled bitterly.

It wasn't that he didn't understand the change in Uslin. He, too, was quite fond of the little lady. What's more, Uslin chased her to Croix Castle and saw her sufferings in person. It makes more sense.

Not only that, but Elliott was also quite shocked, and at the time of the declaration of war against Duke of Croix, he was more fiercely in favor of the war than anyone else. I haven't heard a detailed explanation of what happened, but seeing their reactions it must have been quite harsh.

It was funny to see Uslin looking out of the ordinary at the little woman.

Uslin glared at him as if telling him not to care, and turned his head away. Hebaron followed his colleague, who strode with a quick move. As they passed through the banquet hall and reached the gate, they could see a crowd of servants at the Great Hall.

In it he was able to find a woman with dark mahogany-colored red hair. Maximilian Calypse was picking up something from a magician who became a member of the Calypse castle last year. He thought it was a herb pouch.

"It's a good medicine for colds. This herb is to help replenish your mana. Here's a potion in this bottle that helps calm seasickness. And this is....”

She was listening attentively to the old wizard's spewing of explanations without a trace of displeasure. But Hebaron could see she rolled her eyes from time to time looking for someone. A heavy sigh burst forth.

Uslin approached her and bowed politely. Then Maximilian Calypse turned her head and gave a bright smile.

"N, no. I was... saying goodbye to everyone."

Hebaron had a mixed look on his face. When he saw her trying to hide her sorrow, he felt like he was doing a terrible thing. She glanced behind their backs and asked hesitatingly.

"B, by the way... Riftan is..."

"He's... on urgent business, so he's out at the gate. But he insisted that we take milady safely to the port."

The smile that lingered around her mouth crumbled helplessly. Watching the heavy shade cast over her large gray eyes, Hebaron swears inwardly toward the leader. Then she spoke with such cheerfulness that it felt unnatural, as if to conceal her disappointment.

"L, let's... let's go. At the harbor... ...her royal highness is waiting."

"Now, hold on!"

As she was about to get on the wagon, a loud voice came from afar. Hebaron raised his head. Yurixion and Garow, dressed in training suits, were coming across the training station. As the servants quickly scattered from side to side, giving way, Yurixion ran straight for Maximilian.

"We, we just wanted to say goodbye....”

He breathed hard and held out a handful of wild flowers for her.

"We've searched all the mountains... The weather was still cold, so we could only find these small flowers. It's a humble gift, but could you take it?”

Maximilian, who was blinking her eyes, carefully picked up the flowers. Only then did Yurixion smile. The boy, who had grown tall over the months, said with a knightly look on his face.

Garow also said goodbye. After answering with a smile, she got on the carriage, seeing everyone off. Twenty guards, including Hebaron and Uslin, followed suit on horseback.

Hebaron stood close by the carriage, and Uslin took the lead. He checked the ranks with a keen eye before sending a start signal. Then the gate opened wide and they went down.

They slowly crossed the bridge, surrounded by carriages back and forth. As soon as they went down the hill and reached the village, people swarmed from side to side of the road to see the knights.

Hebaron, who was silently driving his horse through it, glanced into the window of the wagon. Through the half-open curtains, I could see thin shoulders drooping helplessly.

The long braided hair looked a little heavy on the thin neck. A sense of guilt made a corner of his chest uncomfortable. It was none other than himself who informed her of the situation and asked her to testify.

He rubbed the tingling temples, recalling the image of Riftan, who was burning mad. I thought it would be better if he vent his rage like then. It couldn't seem more precarious to keep all the emotions quiet.

I don't know what she said to persuade the leader, but it's clear she hasn't solved it smoothly. Every time I stepped into the Great Hall, I heard the servants worry between the two several times.

'I didn't expect for him to not see her off...'

I had regrets that I should have dragged him by force. But with him in front of him cold as if he had lost all his feelings, who dared to put the name of Maximilian Calypse in their mouth?

After hearing that she had decided to leave for the World Tower, the members were extremely reserved in front of Riftan. Now there was no one who didn't know what she meant to him.

Then, princess Agnes ran out among the workers who were busy running around the docks and carrying the cargo.

"You're finally here! I was worried that you might have changed your mind because you were late."

Uslin leaped down from the horse and bowed politely.

"We're sorry to have kept you waiting. Getting ready took longer than we expected."

"No, we were loading up, too.”

The princess said, pointing to a ship with the flag of the Whedon royal family between the ships lined up on the sea. In front of it were royal knights and wizards who had come with them to escort the princess.

"We just finished preparing for the departure. You can get on the boat like this.”

Hebaron jumped off the horse and helped Maximilian get off the wagon. She looked up at the huge ship with clear gray eyes. Princess Agnes came up to her and said softly.

"Only authorized personnel are allowed in Nornui. So from here on, the royal knights will escort Maximilian. Of course I'm going with you. I decided to stay on the island for about a month to help Maximilian adjust to the life of the World Tower."

A note of relief passed over her face. Only then did Hebaron realize how uneasy it was for her to leave for a strange place.

"If, if you could... Thank you."

"Don't worry too much. The World Tower is safer and more exciting than any other place in the world for wizards. You'll be able to adjust quickly.”

She straightened her shoulders and said. Suddenly, I remembered the first time I saw her.

Her trembling shoulders, her frightened pale face, and her fragile eyes were still vivid.

Recognizing that he was Riftan, Hebaron rushed to him without thinking. Riftan shook off his arm and tried to jump into the sea like a madman. The knights, who had been hardened with a look of astonishment, rushed at him with a shriek. Riftan howled like a beast in chains.

"Get off me!"

"Damn it, are you crazy?"

"I'm telling you to let go!”

He struggled violently. He was so strong that they couldn't handle it even though four people were holding him. Hebaron spat out curses and pressed him hard on the floor.

"Stop it! What are you going to do now? You can't go after her even if you're the leader!"

Riftan chest shook violently and he exhaled his breath heavily. His eyes shook violently at the sight of the ship growing smaller and smaller in disarray.

Hebaron held his breath. His body tilted forward helplessly, as if he were falling apart. A faint voice was heard.

"...was a lie.”

The water dripped down on the floor. Herbaron, holding his body tight, blinked blankly. Riftan didn't even seem to be aware that he was crying. He muttered with a bewildered look.

"To say that I won't wait... it was a lie."

Looking at his unstoppable swaying shoulder, no one dared to open their mouth. The still sound of the waves reverberated over their heads. Riftan slowly distorted his face as he gazed at the fluttering sea as if his eyes were blinded. The ship gradually faded over the hazy horizon.

As Riftan Calyps entered the banquet hall, the people who chatted like parrots were all silent. In the midst of the tense tension in the hall, the lord of Anatol strode across the hall, exuding an eerie overwhelming sense of deterrence.

The intense curiosity, fear, and admiration were intricately mingled on the faces of the ladies who peeped at his aloof face. They half covered their flushed faces with fans and whisperted something in each other's ears, and the men quietly held their breath in fear and awe.

When he first set foot in the castle of Drachium, the nobles had no intention of condoning that beast, who had dared intrude on their turf. By now, however, those who rejected him and openly insulted him are in a position to save themselves.

However, Riftan was indifferent to their reaction. He walked straight to the arched door at the end of the hall, not giving a glance to those who were panting for a chance to flatter him. Then he stood by the door and said in a dry voice to the servant standing there.

"I came to see Your Majesty. Put up a request."

The ordered servant ran into the room. After a while, when he was given permission to come inside, Riftan headed into the room, waving a reddish-brown cape. Reuben III, sitting back leisurely on a velvet chair, greeted him with a crooked smile.

"You're late. You don't have to please me anymore?”

Riftan grins cynically, glancing at the mountain of congratulatory gifts piled up beside his chair.

"I think the other vassals have done enough to build the royal prestige without my help...”

"That doesn't make your duties lighter."

The king grumbled with a sulky face and then chin-jaked toward the opposite seat as if to tell him to sit down. As he sat down, a standing servant quickly brought a glass. Ruben first gulped down the wine in his own glass and continued to speak like an angry child.

"Today is the last day of the event. I was half resigned, thinking you weren't coming."

"I thought it would be better if I didn't come."

Ruben raised one eyebrow in an indifferent response. Riftan looked down at the glass and added calmly.

"I wanted to avoid running into him as much as possible. Shouldn't there be no bloodshed in the celebration of the birth of the crown prince?"

The king shook his head at the harsh words.

"This is one. You pulled out all the Duke of Croix's teeth, and yet you aren't satisfyed?"

He leaned against the back of the chair and breathed a long sigh.

"He has already had enough of his power taken. Your influence now threatens the Duke of Croix. On the other hand, the duke's momentum isn't the same as it used to be. He's older, more obsessive and nervous. He's been very ill. I felt bad for him. He's not going to admit it even if there's a knife in his throat, but the Duke of Croix is terribly afraid of you. It's not too much considering the pressure you've put on him. You recently sent the Duke of Croix a box with a head as a gift, didn't you?”

"It was an assassin from him."

Riftan answered calmly with a voice that ruled out emotion.

"I just gave back what I received."

The king filled the glass again, with a sulky smile around his mouth.

"I think it would have been more merciful for the Duke of Croix to let you take his breath away two years ago.”

The king's sarcasm stirred a cold flame over the emotioneless eyes of Riftan. For Riftan, who harbors a grudge against the royal family for thwarting Anatol's declaration of war, it was not a light-hearted joke. As if he were suppressing the boiling emotions, he grabbed the glass tightly and spat out violently.

"I didn't know you were so fond of him. Over the last decade, you've been using all sorts of tricks to defeat the Duke's power. Even my wife, who came back from a major incident on the battlefield, was used as a weapon to hurt his pride. Your Majesty, are you showing sympathy for him now?”

"You're not going to leave it behind, aren't you?”

The smile disappeared from King Ruben's mouth. He stiffened his face and laid down his glass roughly with a bang.

"Will Jim have to kneel before you to let you feel better?"

"I only want one thing from you."

said Riftan, as if chewing it out.

"Don't cut in between me and the Duke of Croix. I can't stand His Majesty's willingness to intervene again between me and him."

"Now, are you threatening me?"

"I beg of you."

Ruben, who was glaring at him with his piercing eyes, suddenly breathed a long sigh.

"It's never gonna happen again that Jim gets caught between you two, even if you don't growl like that. I don't want to bother you anymore. If you don't bother me with the burden of another war or trial, I'm not going to interfere in whatever you do behind your back."

Then, after drinking the wine in one breath, he looked at Riftan's cold stone-like face.

"But if you neglect your duty as a patron because of your hostility toward the duke, the story will change. You're now the great Lord representing the South. If you neglect the royal family, the loyalty of the other nobles will be shaken. Not to mention the knighthood worshipping Uigru's incarnation."

"In the future, many will attach great significance to your words and actions. I am deeply concerned about what kind of message your reluctant appearance at the celebration of the birth of the crown prince will give to the nobles."

Riftan twisted his mouth cynically.

Inside the circular hall with colorful patterns of rugs, aristocrats dressed in silk and fur gathered together to chat. At the center of the conversation, princess Agnes's, who was leading the conversation, smiled brightly when she found him.

"You're here, Lord Calypse."

"Long time no see, Your Highness."

She approached him with a graceful gait after asking for understanding from her relatives. Riftan looked strangely at the princess looking unfamilar in her dress and turned to the one standing next to her. A young man with a face so much like Agnes and vivid golden eyes was looking up at him with curious eyes. I could guess the identity of the young man without having to hear his name. Riftan bowed lightly to take an example.

"It's been a long time. Your Highness the Crown Prince."

"Long time no see, Lord Calypse."

The young prince extended his hand in welcome.

"The first time I've seen you was when I was young, right? Thank you for coming all this way."

"Forgive me for not visiting you sooner. I brought four horses from Rakasim as a congratulatory gift. I hope you like it.”

"From Rakasim?"

A bright smile hung around the crown prince's mouth. Riftan looked down at his boyish young face with a curious glance. With slender frame and marble-white, smooth skin, Elias Ruben looked so young and naive that he could not have just become the father of a child. He shouted in a heated tone.

"What breed is it? What about the color of his fur? If it's Lord Calypse's eye, they must be great, right?”

Agnes, standing beside him, shook her head as if dumbfounded.

"You seem more pleased to be given a horse as a gift than that Abel was born."

"Abel is cute, too. He looks like his mother and already has a beautiful face."

The prince smiled in a way that seemed to boast of the puppy he had received as a gift.

"But he's too small to ride.”

"I can't live."

The royal princess glanced at her brother and turned her eyes back at Riftan.

"Thank you for coming. The child is in the other room. Would you like to meet him?”

Riftan nodded slowly. The prince seemed to want to run to see the horse at any moment, but he took the lead at the urging of his sister.

He entered the room at the end of the hall and removed the thick veil from the entrance. Then I could see Rosetta Ruben sitting on a long chair with a thick cushion on it, served by the maids.

She looked up and looked at them indifferently.

Dressed elegantly in a rosy dress and gathering the silver blonde hair and placed them neatly together, the princess looked no less noble and dignified. The prince approached her and shouted cheerfully.

"Rosetta, Lord Calypse has come to congratulate Abel on his birth."

The quiet turquoise eyes of the Crown Princess turned toward him. Riftan hardened his face when he felt her eyes glancing around him as if looking for someone. Rosetta's lips clapped open as if to say something and soon turned her head toward her husband as if she had changed her mind.

"He just fell asleep. Everyone, please keep your voices down."

Rosetta, who warned them in a chilly tone, took the baby from her maid and held it in her arms. Despite his wife's cold attitude, the prince shrugged his shoulders once and smiled like a rascal at Riftan.

"He's a demon when he's awake. His voice is so loud, he must be a huge tyrant when he grows up."

Then he leaned down and stared into the face of his son, who was fast asleep. In contrast to his light words and deeds, there was a deep affection in his eyes, looking down at his young son. The prince tickled the baby's chubby chin and smiled gladly.

A sigh of relief flowed from Agnes mouth watching the scene. The younger brother, who was reunited with them after a few years, had grown up to be just as good as his father. I was quite relieved because I was always worried about him hiding his true feelings behind his humorous attitude, and how he would behave like that to Abel.

'You seem to be quite attached to Rosetta..'

Contrary to rumors that the prince and his wife were not getting along very well, the two managed to seem friendly. Agnes smiled gladly as she saw them matching like a picture.

At that moment, the shadowy face of Riftan standing at the entrance came into her sight. Agnes, who was trying to persuade him to come close and meet his nephew, suddenly held her breath. Looking at the crown prince, the crown princess and their young son in slight distance, there was a vivid pain in the eyes of Riftan. It was as if their figures were daggers and slashed him. Agnes was startled to see the miserable look and reached over his arm.

"Riftan, are you all right?"

Riftan grumbled and shook her hand away fiercely. Everyone's eyes flew towards them in a rather violent act. Agnes smiled as if nothing happened and spoke softly to Riftan.

"You look tired, Sir. You must have been tired of running a long way, so go to your room and rest."

Riftan lowered his eyes as if to hide his feelings and nodded slowly.

"It's late, so I'll leave you alone."

Seemingly sensed the strange atmosphere, the prince nodded in silence. Riftan bowed lightly, expressed his courtesy, then turned and left the room. Agnes quickly chased after him.

"Are you sure you're okay?”

"What do you mean?"

First of all, here the third date scene. At the sudden sound of his voice, she turned her head quickly. Riftan stood in front of the door that had been opened for ventilation. Max rose from her seat and quickly approached him.

"A, at this hour... what brings you here?"

Riftan had gone out of the castle before dawn to supervise the construction of the road today. Max looked at him with a worried look, wondering if something had happened. But Riftan, as usual, stood tall with a majestatic and overbearing manner, with his dark jade-shining hair in disarray.

He looked down at her with a cautious glance, taking off his leather gloves from his hands and touched her forehead.

"I came back to see you because I had to stop by the blacksmith. You got a fever?”

"Oh, no. I was just looking out the window."

"You sighed. Are you bored with staying here?”

There was a young nervousness in Riftans voice.

"Shall we invite the nobles of the close lands to hold a banquet?"

Max opened her eyes wide with astonishment. She was well aware that she couldn't afford it now in the Calypse castle. Although they had money to spare, Riftan and the knights did not have time to leisurely entertain guests and enjoy alcohol and food.

But he had a serious look on his face, as he did when he said he would hold the festival for all four seasons. Realizing that he meant it, Max quickly shook her head. Riftan frowned and lowered his head as if to look into her innermost thoughts.

"You've been looking sullen ever since the guests left. If you're tired of living in the country....”

"Oh, no! It's just... it's getting warmer. I'm just drowsy. I don't usually like banquets or ball parties... I don't like it."

Her words gave a look of thought to Riftan.

"I guess it's true, you didn't really attend the banquet at Croix Castle. Even on the day you showed up, you sat quietly and left quickly.”

There was a hint of reproach in his tone. Does Riftan want an active and sociable wife? Max muttered an excuse with a stiff face.

"W, when the guests come... I, I'll take care of them so they won't feel uncomfortable. But....I haven't really liked noisy places... since long ago."

"It didn't look like that at the festival. I want to see you like that again....”

Riftan, who exhaled angrily, flinched and shut his mouth. His large shoulders were faintly stiff with strange tension.

"Then would you like to take a walk with me for a while?”

"Y, you don't have to. You're busy."

"It's not like I don't even have time to breathe."

Riftan spat irritably and picked up her cape hanging on the wall.

"Can you stand a short walk with me?"

"I, I didn't mean no. It's just... you don't get enough sleep and you work hard. When it's time to take a walk... I'd rather you sleep for a little while... I thought you'd feel better like that...”

"It wouldn't be a bad idea to take a nap together."

He glanced at the bed and twisted his lips.

"But I'm not sure I can just lie there with you and sleep soundly.”

Max felt her face burning. Riftan pulled her shoulder with a nonchalant face and dressed her in a cape.

"I'd rather take a walk. I didn't even get a proper look at your wonderful garden."

Max followed him out of the room obediently. A fresh, flowery wind blew through the open window. As if to smell the scent, Riftan sniffed and gave a strange look.

"It smells like flowers all over the castle.”

"Don't you like it?"

"No, it's just...I was thinking it was strange.”

He spoke in a dry tone.

"I'm more used to the smell of dirt, horse, sweat and blood."

Suddenly Max thought he might not be as familiar with the tenderness or warmth of life as she was. No, they were never the same. He had the strength and courage to overcome the severe pain and ordeal, but Max had nothing.

"Let's also prepare some snacks. I'm hungry."

Riftan spoke in a light tone, as if he had sensed the subtly heavy atmosphere. Max smiled at him to hide her depressed mood.

"A few days ago... I bought a lot of fresh fruit. Good spices, too. There will be a lot of....delicious food.”

"I'm looking forward to that. I think it's been a while since I've eaten fresh fruit, not dried or salted.”

Riftan licked his lips and strode away. They went straight to the kitchen and came out of the Great Hall, with fists-sized green apples, raspberries and freshly baked bread in a reed basket.

The bright light pierced the retina, Max squinting her eyes. On the left and right of the stone floor that the servants cleaned and polished every day, the fine grass like a carpet emitted a soft green light, and the spring sunlight poured down from the clear sky was shining the delicate buds of the shrub like jewels.

"Isn't the wind cold?”

She liked to look at her husband to the point where it felt ridiculous to be so scared of him at one time. The sharp eyes and the overly large and overbearing body that had felt ruthless were no longer frightening, and the overly graceful features that had shrunk her were purely admirable.

She still didn't understand why such a beautiful man was so passionate about a woman like her, but she was falling for him as the days went by.

"It's even greater to see it up close."

Finally arriving at the flower garden, Riftan said, looking at the colorful and beautiful flowers in full bloom.

Max looked at the figure in relief and pride.

(side note: Riftan is so emotional, because the only happy memory he had in the past was maxi sitting in a flower bed and playing with her dog. So it's like seeing this memory again, by seeing her in this flower garden )

"Yes, I like it."

It was a strangely locked voice. Max looked up at him with a curious glance. Riftan flopped near her, touching his mouth as if to hide his feelings.

"Oh, it smells really good. Until last year, I never imagined I'd be spending some leisure time with my wife in the flower garden."

Realizing that he was telling the story of his expedition, Max was nervous.

"O, on an expedition... I heard you've been through a lot.”

"It wasn't easy. There were thousands of monsters living in the Lexos Mountains, and the road to the dragon lair was surrounded by layers of barriers and mazes.”

Riftan calmly answered and rummaged through the basket to take out an apple. As he took a big bite of the apple, the fresh nectar soaked his lips softly.

Max blushed red in the sensual memory that flashed into her head. Regardless of her strange imagination, the image of Riftan sitting on the dirt floor and munching on apples was as free-spirited and relaxed as an innocent boy who didn't know the world's troubles. He also gave her a green apple in her hand.

"It's pretty good. You should try it too."

Max held an apple and took a bite mechanically. There was no taste in the tongue hardened by tension.

Riftan suffered immensely because of her father. Max had been preoccupied with her own misfortunes for the past three years and had never thought about the hardships he was going through. Rather, she even feared that he would come back and give her terrible pain.

But how can he be so peaceful next to her? Surrounded by fresh questions, Max looked down at Riftans face, enjoying the breeze, with a cautious glance.

Has he never blamed her? It wasn't what she wanted, but somehow he went through all the trouble of marrying her. Which man in the world would not lament such misfortune? It was a miracle that he decided to stick to his marriage vows and was content with her.

Suddenly, her mind became so uncomfortable that Max quickly changed the subject.

"Road construction... How's it going?”

"It's going smoothly. It'll be finished by fall at the latest."

Riftan threw apple seeds into the bushes, bearing an ambitious smile.

"We'll expand the harbor as soon as the road is complete. It'll cost a lot of money to keep the demons out of harm's way, but the southern merchants will come in with a huge ship and make up for it several times. I'm sure it's going to be a huge cash cow."

"C, can you make so much... money with tolls alone?"

"It's not just the toll. You can make more money than the king if you partner with the merchants. "I'll make you the most noble lady in the Seven Kingdoms. I'll make you as rich as the Queen of Roem.”

Riftan stroked her palm and spoke passionately.

"If the empire hadn't been destroyed, you would have been treated as the highest-ranking woman on this continent. A guy like me wouldn't be allowed to talk to you."

"D, don't be ridiculous. Roem collapsed a long time ago. The Roam family barely keeps its name and... to this day, they... have no power... and no influence. I'm just one of the m, many nobles of Whedon."

"That's too modest. You are the descendant of the great imperial family that once ruled the empire, and the eldest daughter of the most powerful duke family in Whedon. You're not just a noble."

Suddenly, a cruel look permeated Riftan's face.

"I despise your father, but I do not intend to belittle it. The Duke chose me as your husband because I am suitable for use, not because I am a suitable groom for you."

Max flinched her hand caught by him. Like a hound instinctively weighing down a bird flapping under its own claws, he gave his grip strength.

"I have no aristocratic relatives.Even if I died later, I don't have any brothers who would take revenge for me. A knight from a commoner rank, who has ability and a reputation but no power. He clasped her cheek urgently, as if he had suddenly come out of rage.

"I didn't mean to blame you. I know you have nothing to do with your father's mean behavior. You never wanted to marry me, did you?”

The remark was true. Looking at her, who could hardly deny it, Riftan smiled bitterly.

"You're just a pitiful scapegoat who got caught up in her father's affairs and was forced to marry a humble man like me."

"T, that's not true. Don't say it...like t, t, that."

He didn't listened to his desperate wife.

"But I'll make you perfectly satisfied. I'll make you feel better married to me than to any nobleman or royalty.”

"I, I... already feel that way. So..."

She couldn't stand his words any longer, so Max spat out violently. As she leaned over and hugged his neck, Riftan hardened his body in surprise and soon raised his arms to hug her vigorously.

He pulled her head over and put their lips together. The sweet tongue, faintly scented with green apples, gently filled the mouth. Max trembled in a dizzy chill.

The urge to bury her face in his neck and burst into tears soared. The illusions he had on herself were ridiculously inflated. Max shut her eyes with a grim feeling that no matter how much she stepped up, she couldn't get there.

Riftan, for a long time, stroked her face with a regretful face and poured a gentle kiss, then he rose reluctantly from his seat at the call of the guards.

She had a deep understanding of how helpless and miserable she was. When she crawled on the floor like a bug and hung on her father's feet, Max could not forget what she saw through the mirror in the room. Her skin was swollen red and she wriggling on the rock floor, like an earthworm.

Princess, dukes daughter and young women, all of them sound ridicoulous.

'It's stupid....'

She rolled herself into a circle like a shrimp and buried her face in her lap. The more she thought of Riftan, the more stuffy she felt in her chest.

Is it okay to let him believe that he is far behind his wife? However, the mere thought of telling her husband honestly about herself made her sweat cold and her stomach twisted.

She was well aware of how the servants of the Croix castle were looking at her. Their glances from a distance away with lukewarm sympathy, were sometimes more unbearable than her father's violence.

She'd rather die than get such eyes from Riftan. She never wanted to let her husband, who believes his wife is the most noble lady in the world, know how miserable she has been.

Max, who had been pushing herself with masochistic thoughts, could no longer endure and ran out of the room again. She thought her head would become weird if she did nothing and stayed alone like that.
