I just took a look at the total chapter count for this novel and around 70+ chapters left. For a while now, it has been feeling like the author is trying to wrap things up. Bai Yunfei has been powering up extremely quickly, old acquaintances have been popping up, and old enemies are permamently gotten rid of. Loose ends are being tidied up.

 

Mo Ni is relatively midway, IIRC after Yunfei enters Crafting School.

I'd be satisfied if dumb Zhang and that goldie Soul King dies.

Also....I will always prefer Glacial Pricker over Heaven's Thunder among Yunfei's piercing armaments.

 

Ch-1326: he shouldn't have used so much of the energy on the avatar and passed more into the core for the others. While, of course, having another Soul Saint would help in the upcoming fight, it'd be more impressive to have a bumper crop of Soul Kings and Soul Emperors. There's also that perhaps the Fate School's elder could have advance to Soul Saint. Wasn't he nearing the end of his life span?

 

Ch-1330: With all the traveling Bai Yunfei has done with the Crafting School (and now with the Fate School) in the Core stone, there has hardly been any time the students or instructors were let out to explore and experience the places (towns, cities) he's passed through. It's highly unlikely the younger students had ever had a chance to visit such far away places. Plus, they were at the Soul Beast Forest for quite a while. Didn't any of the mid-tier students want to come out to see if they could get a Soul Beast partner or at least learn the Pill School's easy method for doing so? I feel that's the biggest fault of the writer, he's too focused on the MC and ignores the rest of the side characters.

 

Well, 2 more chapters until this story is completed.

 

Ch-1356: And this novel is over and done. As like the author's final words say, this story wasn't the greatest. Yet even through the grindy and boring parts, I quite liked it. It was nice that in the last arc, the author brought back and mentioned many of the old acquaintances Bai Yunfei met in the past to wrap things up. The ending was peaceful to Yunfei and to the world in general, so I'm satisfied.

 

I would be lying if I say I'm not disappointed. I didn't get to see brick-chan talk. Plus that tease on Fire-Tipped Spear being a Regalia..
