Ai-chan was watching Veronica and have to say the little kids are way smarter than the eldest sister. I understand where she was coming from and what lead her to doing what she did, but she's been making mistakes after mistakes. I suppose it's realistic, seeing as she's still a teen with hormonal issues and her mother doesn't seem to think anything is wrong. I can't blame the mother either, since I also know why she was like that and it's not like anyone can really do anything about it. The premise of the story is the typical girl plays ouija, girl gets possessed and bad things happen. However, what makes it better than the others are the small details included in the movie, such as child psychology and the reality of religion, instead of cross trumps everything. Anyhow, if you'd like to get some scares, try watching it. If you hate jumpscares, then be happy, this one doesn't use that to scare you. It builds up the atmosphere. p/s: It's a spanish language horror.
the reality of religion? how do you mean? is it the old cliche "God isn't real and the afterlife is just horror"?
obviously wrong. World hunger, racism and global warming can all be fixed by religion. You're just not believing hard enough!
Pfft! You realize that two of those have its roots in religion? Well, that's fine if that's what you want to believe. But this is a thread about the movie, not about theological discussion. I can poke holes in that theory ten times over, but I'm not a theologian and that is not the purpose of this thread.
The Conjuring is more terrifying, I guess. But Veronica is more earthly, like, you can relate to the characters in the story and you know you can't really blame them for what happened. Veronica is a story about normal people suffering misfortune, as in it could've happened to any of us, while The Conjuring is like extraordinary people suffering extraordinary things.
I was being sarcastic, Ai-chan~ ...although the claim that world hunger and racism has their roots in religion is a ridiculous notion. Rather, those three and religion itself all stem from human nature, rather than from each other. But yes, I was being sarcastic earlier; obviously not everything is solved simply being religious.
