I know this has been a thing for a decade already but I would like to discuss it now. It seems that uploaders choose whether to limit videos to some countries due to licensing laws or simply to spite others to put it simply. I mean licensing laws really? I mostly use youtube for music so that doesn't make sense at all since for example Germans who aren't blocked on some video don't pay for it either, what's music a national treasure? Besides I'll just find another uploader who wasn't an ass that blocked some countries.
Well... That's how licensing laws could be practiced. And when it comes to laws, Youtube can be very prickly. Take a misstep, and poof, it's gone. Also, use a goddamn good VPN.
It's not uploaders, it's your country... like if there is a music or a video clip in the video that is against the law in your country, you will see that thing. Germany suffers quite a lot because of it. To get around it use VPN or some youtube plugins that will present you from a different country
It's not just about you and your country, you know? 'not prosecuted' doesn't mean it just magically undone in your country.
I seriously doubt my country has antyhing against rock, metal and 80's music by random small time uploaders on youtube.
it's usually related to licensing and copyright. If it's copyrighted, you can't listen to it on youtube. It's definitely not uploaders who are picking which country they play it and which country not. Read about GEMA, they block a huge amount of music in Germany. Like, every other video from youtube. Youtube can also limit something in a particular country, so it might be that YT just don't like your country
