This post does not have to do with legalities or specifically wuxiaworld. Please don't merge into a barely related mega thread. My question is just to ask how many people think like I do. Regardless of whether they had the legal right to do so, I feel disgusted when I see how qidian has been functioning, including in china. I've come to the decision that regardless of whether they are legally "right" I can't come to terms with supporting them as they currently operate. So I just want to see if this is a massive minority view or bigger. Just on morals, I will never be visiting the pages of qidian. EDIT: just to make sure, in order to avoid lock/merge. Please take all arguments to the megathreads. This is just to state your current opinion, not to argue about whose opinion is correct.
I personally think that they're just trying to become another Yen press, and as a reader that has been able to receive these services for free, I don't want Qidian to win
They just seems the same as those villains in the chinese novels (I am talking about those in the urban ones.)
Well... you could say qidian is the spark of revolution. Countless drama and conspiracies are born from it. Will a hero emerged ?
The way Qidian is going at it, its like they're shooting themselves in the foot, think it isn't theirs and just keep shooting
its not suprising, internet is slowly becoming paywalled, i still remember when my broadband has no data cap
Qidian is actually acceptable if they follow the laws, laws that are accepted by both them and the TL. I mean, otherwise I will just be left alone without some of their stuff...
I can't accept their way..how they think like they are the gods or something..and looking down on us like we are nothing but puny ant ..i just can't accept that treatment..
Do realize, QI could have just went and destroyed any group translating one of their novels. And they still can. You are fed with bullshit by ww fandom (the annoying one. not all ww supporters are cancer) and will just side like sheep with a guy who represents himself as.. idk. a nice person. when in fact he profits from stealing intelectual property and publishing it anew. qi evil? dont be.stupid
Qidian was like a gem in my eyes at first, then it become a shit for stone later after seeing their motives and actions *spits on the ground*
"Puny mortals". Readers are obviously cultivators/gods, and they watch the people with solid opinions scramble.
My problem with yen press comes from its quality which is sometimes on par with mtl. Honestly while I would rather not pay for the book, buying a book of garbage quality feels horrible when the free version was better. I was so hyped for qidian and was willing to pay a subscription to read there at first, but then quality was pretty darn terrible for about half their series. Then there were the legal allegations vs Wuxiaworld which made me want to sit back and wait on a conclusion. Now I read on an aggregator site for their books. Long story short, qidian lying made me feel disgusted with them more than anything else. I value transparency highly and qidian just can't seem to say what they actually plan on doing.
