Hmm one of the webtoon artists on twitter is telling her supporters to report any illegal translations https://twitter.com/Kotavi/status/1295012865791766530 The artist does not allow unauthorize use of her art too so it's possible a fan found out and reported your wattpad
The fact that you were using Wattpad tells me all I need to know. That site is straight trash. Too bad for your work, but it looks like there are some work arounds posted already.
That's very likely. I know Wattpad automates copyright claims systems and don't check anything. (Because I used the claim against someone copying my translation and Wattpad just took it down, no questions asked). If they operate like YouTube, around 2 or 3 strikes for copyright violation could get you suspended.
Psst, let's not open any way for Scribblehub to be struck with a piracy dmca warning. Translation is okay, but I'm pretty sure blatant approval of copyright infringement will lead to trouble in a few years. If the author has explicitly said their stories cannot be translated, then either hide yourself by going the route of usual Korean/Japanese translators - hiding in patreon and discord or just deal with having to keep moving around whenever a fan reports you.
Or you can just have your own website and be in charge of everything. I setup websites for others, similar to Wordpress.com. I put ads on it too like Wordpress.com but you get a custom domain name eg www.nightempress.com and others that you can't get on Wordpress.com . Cheers!
I'm so sorry for what happened to you. I hope you don't lose your motivation because of this anyway. If this happened because of copyright issues, I might have to go and delete my Korean novel TLs. Thanks for the headsup.
