Well your not wrong about the tabloid article.

I originally found the article on JapanToday and then found that the source was re-directed to SoraNews24. I'll edit my post, to clarify it not as fact but a possibility or theory which hasn't been verified.

I appreciate your input, and thanks for pointing out that SoraNews24 isn't always reliable and should be viewed more as entertainment.

And I thought they were reliable. I guess the Japanese man marrying his Nintendo gf might not be exactly true

Dont recall. Rocketnews24 and soranews24 which should be owned by the same company have published similar stories.
Although I also watched a documentary by the BBC on something similar

Web novels tend to be like a newspaper serials. Instead of careful planning and editing, you just have your author write stuff up day by day. They tend not to have any sort of direction of what so ever and they just move from one problem to another.

They would tend to move from one zone, world settings or world stage as the author wrote himself into a corner and had to reset the whole thing without using time travel over and over or reduce the MC power.

You can expect that most web novels endings would be very forced because they usually happen when the author is forced to end it because of unpopularity or just wanted a fresh start.

Light novels are similar to web novels but then tend to have more editing and a stronger underlining story. The author would tend to design the world 1st before getting down into the deeper end of the story.

They would not hop from one world to another or one zone to there other and tend to reuse the characters.

Light novels are also more energy-efficient as they use natural light!

Sometimes LNs lose a bit of the author's touch and try to 'fill in the void' a bit too much.
