Discussion what dish will you bring to another world?

If I'm not allowed to bring paper, then I'm not going to that world. Don't wont to die from dysentery after the 1st week.

 

Boiled eggs

 

I only know simple dishes. They won't "wow" anyone. I guess if I had to pick one then hmmmm pound cake. the recipe is easy since its exactly one pound per ingredient: flour, butter, eggs, and sugar.

By the way, even if you know how to cook at a professional level, old-timey cooking is still frickin' hard!

 

Where do you draw the line at cooking utensils and cloth? Would a carbon nanotube knife be a cooking utensil? Would a shirt made of solar panels an lcd screen and built in computer count? (How about an astronaut suite?) How many layers of cloth? (I can write quite a lot of recipes on a white shirt and put 20 shirts on top of each other)

Overall though, the chance of a world having the same ingredients as our world is slim. But assuming that is the case, well probably none. Instead I'll note down which plants, fruits and vegetables to avoid. I don't cook much, but it wouldn't be hard for me to replicate many dishes if I had time and trial and error. More worrisome is if I use an ingredient that is poisonous or shouldn't be used.

 

Hm... seems like surprising those otherworlders with modern day dish is more difficult than what it seems in the novels.
For average people in general atleast.

I wonder how many engineer knows how to make an ice cream or wine if they didnt get any chancess to prepare for the transfer.
