Question What does "nai wa" mean?

The google-sensei is silent... Just what does it mean?! "No way"? "Oh, well"? Or something along these lines?

 

Its, No Way, right? A japanese trying to say no way, with a skewed accent.

'Nai Wa' can be used in different ways, one of those ways is to express disbelief like 'No Way!' or 'It Can't Be!', it can also be to correct someone like 'It's Not Like That' and more, if I'm wrong in any way please correct me. My understanding on Japanese is limited.

To correct someone using 'Nai Wa' in a sentence goes like this 'Anata ga omou koto wa shinjitsude wanai wa' is one way

 

nai wa sounds like no way and indeed means no way

 

nai denotes something in the negative (like no or not) by itself, or turns another another word or phrase negative by ending with it
wa is an informal sentence ender usually used by women (instead of yo by men)
so "nai wa" is slang-ish (guys say nai yo, but you hear it most often as "nee yo")

As I understood it, that was Kumo trying to say 'No Way' in English and it ended up like that, so since it stood out in the Japanese text the TL made it stand out in the English text. Or something along this line.

Nah, it's an actual short quip that's used in Japanese. Naturally the exact translation depends on context, but I've understood it as a "no way" similar to when you look at something scary or that you just don't want to deal with and go "NOPE" to. Something along those lines. (correct me if I'm wrong anyone )

Nai (to not exist) or the nai form of arimasen(negative form/masen). Aru or arimasu is the corresponding dictionary and masu form of the existence form.
wa or ha is just a subject particle, used for separation in sentences that follows a subject or noun as an identifier.

So she is literally saying "is not" or "can't be" or "not there" or "don't have". (Varies on context)

Now why the author chose it in this manner is hard to say... In popular culture adding wa at the end of each sentence is seen as a more elegant way of saying it... ii desu wa... Or a way of being "cute" perhaps... Kinda like how you can see in some anime someone saying にゃあ at the end of every sentence or わん.. にゃあ(nyaa) is meow for a cat... わん(wan) is like woof from a dog for japanese. Which is why you might see some nekomimi cat girls saying nyaa at the end of every sentence and such... Same idea here.
