I need to download a lot of music videos and they will be shown on a TV but I don't know what file type to use since I want a good quality video that doesn't take too much time since I need at least a few hours of music. I read that .mov is good but I don't know if it's playable on TV. I usually download only in .mp3 but this time I need the music videos too so I don't know what to convert it into. What file type do you use when you want to do something like this?
Matroska (.mkv) was the go-to when I cared about anime. Don't see why they wouldn't work on a TV unless you're doing some sort of DJ work with graphics in the background that use some special shit.
Are you downloading from a supplying site, or are you ripping them off youtube, or are you encoding them yourself? If encoding yourself you need to get the codec, if you're getting them from a site then you're at the mercy of whatever they decide is the standard.
Well Youtube doesn't have download by default so you're probably going to be using a browser addon/script and getting something like mp4 or wmv which most players should recognize automatically.
You high, bro? Vorbis is an audio codec, not a container, and neither ogg nor webm are likely to be compatible with the dude's tv.
Some players may support a specific container (e.g. mkv) but not the codecs used (e.g. H.264, AAC), while others may support the codecs but not the specific container. In the end depends on the player you'll use to play the media.
