Most likely Ai-chan's first anime was Doraemon. Watched it to death. Back then, it was new and fresh. Totally different from American cartoons that the tv channels kept importing.
I think I started watching anime BEFORE I even knew about that term.
Back in the early 80s, Doraemon came to Singapore and it was screened in the cinemas here. I remember it was a movie with dinosaurs in it. Doraemon and friends probably found some dinos or something? Or went back in time?
Anyway, because it was screened in Singapore, it got dubbed in Mandarin. And during that time, I thought it was a Hong Kong produced cartoon. Didn't think it might be Japanese.
Recent ones? I am still halfway through watching SAO (latest season).
I don't remember exactly but it was probably before year 2000 so around over 20 years ago must be between sailor moon or dragon ball.
When I was very, very young I watched Pokemon and Yugioh(and Ghibli Movies), then I kinda forgot about them, after I got a bit older, I rediscovered animes on YouTube and watched mostly Magical Girl and Shoujo stuff like Yes! Pretty Cure 5, Tokyo Mew Mew, Mermaid Melody and Sailor Moon.
I still check out the newest animes, although I seldom watch shows anymore. I mostly just read the manga/novel haha.
technically howls moving castle but the one that got me into anime was maid sama
Mine was Akira ... the movie. Literally back in 1991. >_<
However, what hooked me into the medium was the OP for Clannad: After Story....
Code geass! Death note! And yeah I guess you can say Pokemon too....
My first anime was Doraemon, still a favourite after so many years!
'First' anime was Fullmetal Alchemist (2003). Didn't even watch it because it was rated highly or anything, but because there was a Movie Theorist episode on it before that I vaguely remembered about.
My first Anime was Doraemon or Pokemon.....!!
I think it was Ghost Fighter, Dragon Ball Z, or Naruto. Probably Ghost Fighter since back then we have anime shows showing on TV.
The very first piece of Japanese animated media, although I did not know it was produced by a Japanese studio back then, nor did I know of the term "anime", was probably the OG Moomin. Remember watching it on our tiny old fat TV.
My first one were I recognized it as "proper" anime wasn't until some time later on. Although I can't remember for sure, I'm pretty sure it was Sailor Moon.
Crayon shin chan when i was like 2 but also one piece , Conan , Doraemon , Sakura something dont remember but its airing but like more the a CP of k s , astro boy
hard to tell as im not sure what would still count as anime and what not
might have been a rerun of captain future, saber raider and the star sheriffs thought a heavily edited version of sei jushi bismark
but back then was the time of he-man, galaxy rangers, marshal bravestar, etc too not always easy to tell us comics and anime apart even more if both would be localized
of the knowingly anime evangelion or ghost in the shell might be the earliest
im a lil surprised no one mentioned hellsing or elfenlied so far
