Recommendations What JP novels have an MC who doesn't fit the Jp mc stereotype

Whenever I read a novel with a super nice mc ex. Sheng yin Wang zuo i get super annoyed. I want to read some Jp novels but they are stereotyped on having these super nice mc, who are dense, which makes it worse. What Jp novels would u recommend that are not like this?

training wasn't shown but as a foundation that he did start training killing arts for the warring times ,instead of the sports oriented one today, he has basically dominated in a world were people only use strength to battle(i.e. swords = clubs). He does have a cheat indestructible katana but he uses it as a delicate weapon, that it is, and aim for gaps in armors/bones. Also, his dark element magic is barely used in combat.
His goal is to spread combat techniques so he can fight more skilled opponents.
First time I have seen MC actually helping his enemies get stronger.

if you want one who isn't dense then feel free to search teh R-18 sections because jp MC's there are aggressive demons who want to take all the female in the universe for themselves.

 

Mahouka really fits xD MC is not dense, is not nice, is kind of an asshole, and because he was experimented on, he lost a major part of his emotions, and sometimes he shows symptoms of being a sociopath

 

It seems that you read the wrong kind of novels. There are plenty of novels where the MC is selfish or evil or crazy or just doesn't care about other people at all. Is that along the lines of what you want?

you say JP in your title but the example you gave is a chinese novel.
Shen Yin Wang Zuo is actually one of the rare chinese xianhuan/xianxia novels that has a nice MC similar to japanese fantasy world adventure ones.
Chinese xianhuan/xianxia novels have MCs who are mostly ruthless where if they are not ruthless, themselves and their loved ones will suffer.
there are some JP novels with MCs and the world not being so nice nice but they are mostly like that if we are talking about adventures in a fantasy world type (swords and magic that kind of world).

Overlord the MC can be considered an evil final boss.
code geass although idk if there is a novel for that the MC isnt naively nice either.
there should be quite a few others but idk them because ive been reading CN more lately :/

What makes it interesting is that there is some kind of "forced correction" that forcibly changes all his speach and general behavior into a cruel villain style despite the fact that his actual personality is pretty normal (in other words while is a nice guy he is no selfless hero stereotype) all the while his main goal is to figure out how to avoid his characters death as it happens in the game. (also if it matters to you he becomes somewhat op after the mc discovers that his body is very "high spec" which is justified by how in most Jrpgs you get a big hero party trying to defeat a single villian)

 

Super nice until he's not. Then he's stabbing people to death for talking about his mother and trying to kill people to cover his tracks.

Japanese MCs in 18+ stories are often bigger scum than anyone you'd find in Chinese stories.
