Discussion What other things do you want to see in an isekai novel?

Have you ever read an isekai novel and thought, "This novel is missing this or that."? If you are given the talent to write an isekai novel, what do you want to add that you haven't seen anywhere else?

Need more epicness, those SoL in Isekai is boring as fuck

 

I'd want some more realism in a medieval fantasy isekai. For example:
- People dying of diseases due to poor hygiene and limited medical technology (there should be no disease removal spell)
- More impoverished and starving people

 

misses making the isekai actually affect the plot

Feel like isekai should be more light... This feels a little dark

 

There are some things that would be interesting to read but hard to implement. The top of my list is the MC being the first to discover how to use magic, how to cultivate, etc. Others would be the protagonist protecting his lover from the shadows, somewhat like a superhero would. After that would be more cases of a protagonist getting a weak power and it not being OP. Not until he decides to think outside of the box, that is. And even then it should only be marginally useful until they have a lot of practice.

Still though, I want to see a novel about the discovery of magic!

It's not that that doesn't happen, it's that the MC quickly makes their way above the social status where he would interact with such people. Or they are good years with good harvests and all that.

The impoverished or starving people make up bandits, soldiers, adventurers and slaves in many isekai novels.

 

Sorry, but not even in a dream can those things happen.

 

Sex. More sex. Much sex.

 

Plot. Also, a MC that actually has to earn and work for the affection of his kemonomimi and loli-baba harem. Maybe some love that's not mindlessly unconditional, as well.

 

Always nice, but I'd tag 'more sex' as a need for the genderbent genre - I'm tired of all those 'Oh, I'm a girl? Lets ignore everything!' tropes. There's still plenty of tail-stroking mofumofu in most isekai novels. : )

try "Otoko Nara Ikkokuichijou no Aruji o Mezasa Nakya ne". In a transmigration to a medieval magic world, only half of the randomly reborn transmigrators survive infancy due to starvation and disease. The worst death was the doctors. : ( (I could have made that a Doctor Who in-joke, but decided against it)

 

Noble's wife gets fucked by the MC for sending mercenaries after him.

 

World war maybe

 

I also want the novel to be good and follow a plotline most of the time instead of having the MC ramble on and on about a variety of things that usually don't matter. I honestly believe that most of the dungeon arc should have been timeskipped.

 

More tragedy, no matter where dimension you live world is harsh place.
