While in high school, my high school accepted a lot of foreign exchange students, so I ended up making a lot of friends from China and Korea. I’m about to go to Korea in a week to visit some of my Korean friends for about 2 weeks and I would like to know what can I do there. They have things planned for us to do but I wasn’t thinking straight and decided to stay for 2 weeks since that’s what my friends told me to do. After doing so, I heard there really isn’t much to do in Korea besides visiting Korean drama film sites (which I don’t watch much of and don’t care about) and K-pop (which although I like, I’m not crazy excited about)
So for those who live in Korea or have been to Korea, what should I do there on days I have nothing to do?
P.S. I am going to be restricted to Seoul and the surrounding places where I can make it back by night time because I am going to be staying at one of my friend’s place.
Edit: Also if you guys can tell me some simple Korean terms to help me get by that will help me a lot.

Also as a side question: My Korean friends tell me that all the girls in Korea are very very anorexic, so how true is this statement in your experience?

A few years ago I was there for holiday for about two weeks and I felt it wasn’t enough.

I think just staying seoul is gonna be boring though, I was there for a couple of days and it was more than enough. Seoul has a couple of tourist spots you can go to, mostly historical or filming spots. If you like traditional market, there are a couple you can go to in seoul’s itself and it’s a new experience to see theirs and try the local food there. There are also many shopping area and if your are lucky you can get some stylish local made products for cheap price and good quality.. I got my favourite shoe (sort of a knock off version of converse) for about 30 usd and it last til today.

But if you have some money to spare, definitely try to go out of seoul and visit other cities.. such as busan or jeju. The sceneries at jeju are exceptionally breath taking and since it’s a touristy spot, there are many museums and activities to do. Definitely try their black pork, imho it is superior from the one in japan or the one in US.

Skiing in korea was lots of fun too if your are going in the season for it.. just be prepared for the amount of local tourist and traffic.

Imho korean people are some of the friendliest to tourist, especially if you are travelling with elderlies. They are also very helpful. I have tonnes of good experience during my trip thanks to their hospitable attitude. I am not sure about them being anorexic though, I have seen some plump ladies but the younger ones are definitely more rare as their society doesn’t seem to treat well those with lesser than ideal look (at least from what I gathered).

Anyway, there are many online itinerary that you can google and modify from. You can try visiting trip advisor for some good recommendation. GLHF

dmz tour (if it's open to public)
    gyungbok goong palace
Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon ~~ hour south of Seoul by subway
Changdeokgoong palace, oldest castle, like 500 yrs old or something.
    hyeri art valley
seoul grand park (lots of cherry blossoms during spring, i duno what it looks like out of season)
you can go to n seoul tower, if you like to see views.
    national museum of korea
shopping - > namdaemoon, dongdaemoon, insadong (prolly give yourself a day for each place lol)

if it's during the seasons highschoolers visit the amusement parks, do not go there. All you will be doing is standing in line for 2~3 hours for one ride lol. It's not that amazing in my opinion.

you can try and research concerts or what not, duing the time period and go see them.
    shopping~ myungdong dongdaemoon, anywhere~

Nami island comes to mind when you mention scenic locations. It’s possible to travel there by public transport and return by nights but it might be pricy as you might have to take taxi for the last leg of the journey from the subway into the island.
